Dear God Tracker

The Waters will Retreat with Every Step You Take

Ben had grown up in the Sinai desert. He was born just five months after his parents had evacuated Egypt under the leadership of the prophet, Moses. He grew up under the most trying yet exhilarating conditions, witnessing great miracles like how God had provided manna for them to eat every day and how he had produced water from a rock. Ben was a privileged lad, born into the Levite tribe of Israel. However, sadly, his parents were not very religious. They would often talk about the idols they used to worship in Egypt. On one occasion, while Ben was still very young, they had encouraged his grandfather, Aaron, to build a golden calf to bow down to. Somehow as Ben grew up in that wilderness, he knew that his parent’s generation had got it wrong. Their great leader, Moses had prophesied that they would enter a promised land flowing with milk and honey but, because of his parent’s disobedience, only Ben’s generation would cross over the Jordan River one day.

That day had finally arrived. Ben was 40-years old now. Moses had died and that man-of-faith, Joshua was now in charge. It was early morning and behind Ben the sun’s circle had just completed above eastern horizon a shimmering haze. His feet were inches away from a raging, flooding river. After some prayer, Joshua had told them that he’d heard from God to instruct the Levites to step out into the waters of the Jordan and as they did so, the waters would recede and pile up many miles upstream. Nervously he and Michael, who was holding the pole of the Ark of the Covenant to his right, took a bold step of faith, based on God’s promise, and placed their sandaled feet in the river’s streaming water. Ben had seen great things in the desert but nothing was ever as remarkable as this. Every time his foot touched the flowing river, the waters receded until he and Michael and the other two Levites behind them were walking on solid ground. Slowly, with ever step, Ben witnessed the flooding waters of this great river back up until he and his colleagues had reached the middle of the riverbed. It had taken a good while to reach this point but there they stood on dry ground. God had promised Joshua that every place he set his foot would be given to him. Every time Ben had stepped forward the difficulty and the uncertainty of the raging flood had receded. Now the whole nation of Israel was crossing on dry ground, keeping their eyes on the Ark as they passed by Ben and the other Levites.

Dear God Tracker, you may find yourself at the brink of a breakthrough today. You may feel as though you’re standing with your feet in the water of your Jordan River right now… and it’s in flood! But keep facing west; keep focused ahead of you, across the flood and into your promised land with your eyes on the Ark – on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith. He has promised you new life. The Lord your God is faithful and if you keep acknowledging him in all your ways, he will direct your path, even if it’s across a raging river. Be strong and courageous. Crossing a flood may get your feet wet but the waters will retreat with every step you take!

God-tracking is stepping out into God’s promises.

Blessings

Dudley

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

A Sample of Dudley’s Fave Quotes.

“We can walk without fear, full of hope and courage and strength... waiting for the endless good which God is always giving as fast as He can get us to take it in.” --- George Macdonald

Don’t Give-up, Look-up!

Look-up and Fix Your Eyes On Jesus!

Carry On Your Good Work in Me

Philippians 1:6
…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Pray
“My loving God and Father, thank you so much for the great work of my life that you have begun in me. I realise that you have wonderful plans for me. Today I want to re-affirm that I acknowledge you in all my ways. Lord, guide me on your path across the raging flood in front of me and into your promises for the future. I know now that I need to leave the old behind to go forward and that I need to step out into the water by faith. As I do, I will watch the flood recede until I’m walking on dry ground. But Lord, help me to take that first step and get my feet wet. I am confident that you will take me across my Jordan River and carry on your good work in me until the day of Christ. Praise your holy name, O Lord. Amen.”
