2 Corinthians 5:7
We live by faith, not by sight.

It was a cold, dark winter’s night when I set up my humble telescope in the back garden to gaze at the stars. I love stargazing. I think the Lord gives us a taste of his glory and extravagance in the enormity of the Milky Way. This night I trained my telescope on Saturn. Apart from Earth, I think Saturn is the most beautiful planet in our solar system. As I twisted the focus knob, the image began to take shape in my lens. I was completely awestruck by the tiny spectacle I saw of the second-largest planet in our solar system with its magnificent rings. At its closest, Saturn is 746 million miles away from my telescope, yet I saw it as clearly as though I were almost upon it.

Faith is telescopic! In Habakkuk 3, we read, “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Saviour.” From where the prophet was standing, the future looked pretty bleak. In his flesh, he may have wondered how in the world the Lord would restore his people. But even as he gazed into the future, Habakkuk knew that the Lord was already on the other side of tomorrow, meeting their every need. He was able to gaze into the distance through the telescope of faith, and as he did so, he declared, “The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.”

Perhaps you’re facing imminent difficulties today and feel that there is no way you’ll get through tomorrow. Maybe you’re wondering how you will ever overcome the astronomical financial mess you’re in. It could be that you’re praying for a loved one far off, who is sick in body or afflicted in soul. Well, if that’s you, then allow me to encourage you to pick up your humble telescope of faith and look through those clouds and on to the stars beyond.

The prayer of faith will make the sick person well. Jesus said that with God, all things are possible. The Lord Almighty, who spoke the universe into being, is the One who calls things that are not as though they are. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of a life we cannot see, from here. All the great heroes of faith in Hebrews 11 saw what they hoped for from a distance and welcomed the promises of God from afar.

Perhaps from where you’re standing, all hope seems a million miles away. If so, then gaze through the scope of faith and, in prayer, lay hold of the promises of God by fixing your eyes on Jesus and not on your dilemma.

Don’t Give Up, Look Up & Pray

“I make a conscious effort to hold up the telescope of faith and focus on the answers to my prayers.”

“Dear Lord, I admit that I’m in a mess at the moment. Somehow, from where I’m standing, I can’t see a way out of my dilemma. But I know that you are already beyond my future and that you have already worked out this problem. So, I choose to let go of my human reasoning and understanding and put my faith in your promises to meet all my needs according to your glorious riches in Jesus. I make a conscious effort to hold up the telescope of faith and focus on the answers to my prayers. Lord, you are my all in all. Amen.”

God knows whatever it is you’re facing today. He knows how you got into that situation and he knows how you will get out of it.”

2 Corinthians 4:8
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

The six teenagers were lying flat on their backs on the grass gazing up at the Milky Way against a night black canvas. Myriad stars blinked and glistened, light years above them. “Spectacular, isn’t it?” I said. The mesmerised stargazers made no comment. “Do you know that we are on the edge of our galaxy looking back into it, at about 200 billion stars spanning a distance of about 100,000 light-years? This means that little star’s twinkle over there,” I said pointing to a speck of cosmic glitter far away, “may be a hundred thousand years in the past. You’re gazing across space and time, beyond your wildest imagination.”

From where these teenagers were lying on the earth’s grass, they could see vast swathes of the Milky Way galaxy. It was as if they were looking at the whole picture. God views our lives like that. He can see our beginning and our end in one picture. The Lord sees you for who you are and where you are in space and time. To Apostle John on the Isle of Patmos, Jesus said “I am the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Notice the conjunction word “and”. God is simultaneously past, present and future. In other words, he is not confined by the bounds of time. On the contrary, time is confined by God.

As those teenagers gazed across time looking at those stars, so God sees your whole life in one picture. God knows whatever it is you’re facing today. He knows how you got into that situation and he knows how you will get out of it. In fact, he’s there already on the other side of that wall meeting your every need.

God saw you in the womb and he can see you in the tomb. Step back and let him guide you by his Word and his Spirit. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” If you continue to acknowledge God in all your ways you can trust his course for your life. God sees the big picture.

God-tracking is seeing your life through his eyes.

SO, DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

“Help me to rest in your knowledge of my life’s track and help me to follow your purposes every day, by faith.”

“O my God I know now that you see my beginning from my end. Help me through this difficult time. You know all there is to know about me and I believe that my times are in your hands. I commit my ways to you and acknowledge you in all I am and all I do. Help me to rest in your knowledge of my life’s track and help me to follow your purposes every day, by faith. Take care of my loved ones and their futures and take care of my future, O Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”

GOD-TRACKING IS SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH HIS EYES

Psalm 139:1
O LORD, you have searched me and known me!

My children and I were lying on our backs on the grass gazing up at the Milky Way on a night black canvas of clear sky. Myriad stars blinked and glistened, light years above us. “Spectacular, isn’t it?” I said. The mesmerised star gazers made no comment. “Do you know that we are on the edge of our galaxy looking back into it at about 200 billion stars spanning a distance of about 100,000 light years? This means the twinkle of that little star over there,” I said pointing to a speck of cosmic glitter far away, “is coming to us from tens of thousands of years in the past.”. “You’re gazing across space and time, beyond your wildest imagination.”

God views our lives like that. He can see our beginning and our end in one picture. The Lord sees you for who you are and where you are in all of space and time. God said to John in his vison of the end times, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty." Notice the word “and”. God is and was and is to come, all at the same time. In other words, he is outside the bounds of space and time.

Whatever you’re facing today know that God knows all about it. He knows how you got into that mess and he knows how you will get out of it, with his help. In fact, he’s there already on the other side of that wall meeting your every need. God saw you in the womb and he can see you in the tomb. As you acknowledge the Lord in all your ways, he will hem you in, behind and before, and lay his hand upon you.

So, fix your eyes on Jesus, the founder of your faith. Allow him guide you by his Word and his Spirit, moment by moment. Though the Lord can see the whole picture of your life, he is as close to you as your own breath. Trust in God for his help and guidance; trust in him for his deliverance and provision and trust in him for his strength and healing, without leaning on your own understanding. Your God can see the whole picture if you.

God-tracking is seeing your life through his eyes.

Dear God, help me to see my life as you see it

“O Lord, forgive me for taking my life into my own hands. I often forget that you are eternal and immortal. You are the holy God who loves me and has saved me from eternal ruin, through Jesus Christ. I confess now that you have my life in your hands. I admit and confess that you know my beginning from my end and I acknowledge you in ALL my ways, trusting that you will heal me, guide me, provide for me and help me to serve you in every way. I commit to being a God-tracker, tracking your everlasting plans and purposes for my life. Dear God, help me to see my life as you see it. Amen.”

Dear God Tracker

God Can See Your Life’s Big Picture

The six teenagers were lying on their backs on the grass gazing up at the Milky Way on a night black canvas of clear sky. Myriad stars blinked and glistened light years above them. “Spectacular, isn’t it?” I said. The mesmerised star gazers made no comment. “Do you know that we are on the edge of our galaxy looking back in at about 200 billion stars spanning a distance of about 100,000 light years? This means that little star’s twinkle over there is tens of thousands of years in the past.” I said pointing to a speck of cosmic glitter far away. “You’re gazing across space and time, beyond your wildest imagination.”

From where these teenagers were lying on the earth’s grass, they could almost see the whole Milky Way galaxy. It was as if they were looking at the whole picture. God views our lives like that. He can see our beginning and our end in one picture. The Lord sees you for who you are and how you are and where you are in space and time. Listen to Revelation 1:8: “’I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.’" Notice the word “and”. God is, was and is to come all at the same time. In other words, he is outside the bounds of time.

Whatever you’re facing today know that God knows. He knows how you got into that mess and he knows how you will get out of it, with his help. In fact, he’s there already on the other side of that wall meeting your every need. God saw you in the womb and he can see you in the tomb. Just step back and let him guide you by his Word and his Spirit, day by day and year by year. Though the Lord can see the whole picture of your life, he is as close to you as your own breath. If you continue to acknowledge God in all your ways you can trust his course for you. God can see your life’s big picture.

God-tracking is seeing your life through his eyes.

Blessings

Dudley
