Dear God
Tracker
God-Tracking Knows God’s Presence During Dark Seasons Of
Questioning.
One of England's
finest preachers, C.H. Spurgeon often endured bouts of severe depression
throughout his ministry. This was due in part to gout but also for other
reasons. In a biography of the "prince of preachers", Arnold
Dallimore wrote, "What he suffered in those times of darkness we may not
know... 'There are dungeons', he said, 'beneath the castles of despair.'"
If even a great man of God like Spurgeon endured dark seasons then I know
there’s hope for the rest of us.
Often we as
Christians turn a brave face to the world pretending everything is alright when
we’re actually churning with depression inside. Psychologists will tell us that
there are many causes for depression from chemical imbalance in our bodies to
the results of bereavement. Don’t know about you but I often find myself asking
God deep-life questions during times of darkness, like Spurgeon but somehow he
remains silent. However, as Ravi Zacharias once said,
“Having the answers is not essential to living. What is essential is the sense
of God’s presence during dark seasons
of questioning.”
Do you
feel as though you’re going through a dark season of questioning at the moment?
Are you enduring unreasonable depression or simply feeling down in the mouth?
Well then, let me encourage you and me alike to take our eyes off of the source
of our questioning and dwell rather on the mere fact of God’s presence. God’s
word and his Spirit (his presence) always work together and his word reminds us
that we will indeed go through many times of trial, which may lead to
depression. However, when we do go through dark waters and the fierce flames we
will come out the other side unscathed if we remember that he is always with us
through it all.
God-tracking knows God’s presence during dark seasons of questioning.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.

O
Lord and Help Me Through My Dark Season Of Questioning
Pray
“Dear Father God, I feel so lonely at the
moment. I’m over worked and under rested. Stress in reeling me in and I feel
like I’m drifting into depression. Please forgive me if I have taken my eyes
off of Jesus and looked at my circumstances. I now l ift up my gaze as I remember that there is nowhere
I can escape your presence. Lord, you are with me in all of this; I know you will
never forsake me, because I call on your name. Come now, O Lord and help me
through my dark season of questioning. Amen.”
