Dear God-tracker
God-tracking is gazing intently at your reflection in Mirror
of Reality
It’s the weirdest experience to enter a hall of
mirrors at the funfair. Everywhere you look there are various images of you.
One minute you see yourself as a big-headed alien the next as a skinny
matchstick and then as a wide beamed squat blob. Turning left and right, there
you are again as a zigzag ribbon on one side and a multiple retreating being of
infinity on the other. A real belly of laughs is the hall of mirrors. All
reflections of you but are they true?
The funfair hall of mirrors is obviously designed to
present distorted images of the viewer for entertainment purposes. However,
there is another hall of mirrors that is less obvious yet it too presents
myriad images of you; images that are equally false yet far more convincing. I
am, of course, talking about the images reflected by the media and social
conformity that confront us at every turn in the funfair of real life. Gazing
into that big electronic mirror on your TV stand or into the smaller electronic
mirror you now hold in your hand will reveal reflections of you from one minute
as a high class executive with money bulging in your pockets, to the next as a
slim popular life-of-the-party figure. The media mirror reveals images of what
the world wants you to look like and it will do all in its power to have you
conform to those images.
But there is another mirror that I would like to talk
about. I call it the Mirror of Reality. The Mirror of Reality will reveal your
true image to you. The Mirror of Reality will reflect the very nature of what
you actually look like and how God sees you. It will show the most minute
blemishes in your countenance as well as the glorious radiance of your
splendour as a new creation, through Christ. I am, of course, talking about the
Bible; God’s Word.
The Bible reveals not only your inadequacy in
attaining God’s righteousness but it also reflects back to you the perfect beauty
of God’s righteousness attained only through Christ. The Bible mirrors Christ
as the flawless image of the invisible God and you as seated with Christ in heavenly
places. The Bible displays the true image of the fact that God loved you before
you ever loved him and how His love was demonstrated at Calvary. Gazing in to
the Word of God will reflect back to you, without distortion, His perfect
principles, purposes and precedents for Christian living. Looking into the
Bible is just like looking into a mirror. But just as it’s of no use looking
into a mirror and then going away and forgetting what you look like, so looking
into the Mirror of Reality requires going away and doing exactly what it says. The
Bible is the undistorted hall of mirrors of your real life.
God-tracking is gazing intently at your reflection in mirror of reality.

Verse of the Week
James 1:22-23
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and
not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he
observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Smith Wigglesworth
“If a thing is in the Bible it is so; it is not even to be prayed about; it is to be received and acted upon.” |
Don’t Give-up, Look-up!
Look-up and Fix Your Eyes On Jesus!
Help me to not be affected
by what I reflect on in the media but to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and my
nose in the Bible
Pray:
“Dear God, thank you for the Bible! Thank
you that it contains Your Word and the Your Word is a light to my path. Help me
to read and reflect more upon Your Word, the Bible. Help me to gaze intently
into its pages and then to go away and do what it says. I pledge today to
strive to live by every word I read that offers me principle, purpose and
precedent for living. I ask you, Holy Spirit, to open God’s Word to me and to
activate it in my life. Help me to not be affected by what I reflect on in the
media but to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and my nose in the Bible. For Your
glory. Amen.”
