It is imperative that we lead our children to the place where they will acknowledge Jesus for themselves and begin trekking their own God-track by personalised faith.”

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.

According to an article in Focus on the Family Bulletin, December 1988 a study of the top traits of  successful families revealed certain criteria for a successful family. These included the likes of good communication, affirmation, respect, tradition and faith. These are all positive and motivational criteria. In developing a wholesome family life, it is essential to communicate well, offer respect and share responsibilities. However, of all these, I believe the core criterion for a successful family is sharing a religious faith. In my opinion, the only substantial religious faith is faith in the Most High God through Jesus Christ his Son.

God loved families so much that he gave his One and only righteous Son to be a sin offering on their behalf that, if they believe in him, they may not perish and know the promise of eternal life. We are saved by God’s grace (his sending Jesus to die for our sins) and our faith in his grace.

Faith is essential for a successful family life. The children discover faith through their parents’ examples and teaching. However, no child will know salvation until they discover their own faith. No one can get to heaven on borrowed faith.

While young, a child is covered by his parents’ faith but as he approaches the age of understanding he will need to discover faith for himself. Therefore, as parents, it is essential that we teach our children the word of God, for faith comes from hearing God’s word. It is essential, too, that we exemplify faith to our kids. However, it is imperative that we lead our children to the place where they will acknowledge Jesus for themselves and begin trekking their own God-track by personalised faith.

God-tracking is leading our children in faith.

SO, DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

“I pray that they will grow in their faith and come to a place where they, too, will be an example of faith to their little ones.”

“Dear God, thank you that you sent Jesus to die for our sins. I acknowledge Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour. My faith is in you. As a parent, help me to exemplify faith to my children. I pray for them that they will discover their own personal walk of faith. I pray that they will explore the goodness of God through answered prayer. I pray that they will grow in their faith and come to a place where they, too, will be an example of faith to their little ones. Amen.”

What is GodTracker?
GodTracker is a weekly e-mail Christian motivational thought, written by Dudley Anderson, based on the premise that God has a plan for our lives.
