Dear God Tracker
Fix Your Eyes on Jesus at the Cross and Trust Him to Author Your Life
One of the most heartrending and violent films I have ever watched is the Passion of The Christ by Mel Gibson. The film is a very graphic portrayal of the last few hours of Jesus’ life on earth including the crucifixion. As I watch this film I’m intensely impacted by the amount of blood that would have been lost by an individual suffering the brutal beatings and execution of the process of Roman crucifixion. And as I watch Jim Cavielzed portraying Jesus hanging on the cross during the last few minutes of his life I am again intensely impacted by both the humiliation and the evil of the cross.
The symbol of the cross of Christ is a grotesque symbol of a most macabre form of execution, and yet it is beautiful. The symbol of the cross of Christ is a symbol of violent, pride-filled injustice, and yet it demonstrates the justice of God. The symbol of the cross of Christ brings to mind gruesome and sadistic evil; an evil that exposes the heart of man as intensely sinful. And yet this act of crucifixion exhibits that Christ, though completely innocent of any crime, took all sin upon himself as he endured the cross. Do you want proof that Jesus bore our sins? Just look at the cross.
God sent his only son, Jesus, to take the result of our sins. In his humanity, Jesus of Nazareth was like any man – like you or me. He laughed, he cried, he slept, he ate and he could feel pain. The difference, however, is that in his deity, Jesus Christ was and is the Son of the living God. This is why he was sinless. Though, because he was human, he had every opportunity to sin, but did not. However, God deemed it necessary to inflict the evil of man’s sin upon him through the cross so that he would suffer death, which is the result of our sin. Jesus died as a proxy, an intercessor, as a substitute for you and me on that cross. Yet, as we read on the story of the Passion, we see that Jesus did not stay dead but came alive again. For me, that is the ultimate proof that Jesus was sinless; death could not keep him down! So if we believe in our hearts that Jesus died in this way and that God raised him from the dead and if we confess that he is God and Lord of our lives then we shall be saved from the results of sin, which is eternal death.
Tracking the plans and purposes of God for your life starts here. Do you desire the hope that your tomorrow is safe and secure? Then Come to the cross. Look at it! See the Suffering Servant of God and open your heart to his plans and purpose for you. If being a God-tracker means being on-track with God’s purposes then fix your eyes on Jesus at the cross and trust him to author your life.
God-tracking begins at the cross.

Jesus, I Give My Life to You
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Pray
“Dear God, I am impacted by the cross! I realise that you sent Jesus as Christ to take the results of my own sin on the cross. I am sorry for all that I have done that is sinful and bad. Dear God, I repent of this and all sin that I have been born into in this world. I admit and confess that I can’t be right with you except for the cross of Jesus. I confess that I believe Jesus died in this way for me and took my sins on the cross. I confess that I believe that he was raised to life again and defeated sin, Satan and death. Thank you God for the cross. Today I ask Jesus into my life and I confess him as my God and my Lord. Jesus, I give my life to you. Amen.”
If you prayed this prayer for the first time and meant it with all your heart
I would love to hear about it.
