Dear God Tracker 

God-Tracking Is Standing Sure in God’s Plans for You 

This e-devotional is based on the fact that God knows the plans he has for our lives. That is, it is indeed, he who knows these plans but we don’t; not until we seek them. Therefore, in order for us to walk according to God’s plans we need to acknowledge his knowledge of his plans for our lives, and then set out to track them down as an expert tracker would track an impala through the African scrub. What an exciting life this turns out to be for the scripture continues to say that God’s plans are: “to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” 

However, the Bible is also clear about the fact that holy living is not plain sailing. Even the Apostle Paul battled with this dilemma. He said, “What I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.” He also once pointed out that he had a proverbial thorn in his flesh that he called, “…a messenger of Satan.” The bottom line is God does indeed have a plan for your life but so does the devil. The devil’s plan for our lives is to undermine the plans of God for our lives. Satan is our adversary and will do anything to drag us away from the purposes of God, because he knows that the purposes of God will bring more people into God’s light and confound the purposes of his evil intent.

Dear God Tracker, if you have recently come to Christ and feel like the bottom of your world is falling out; or if you have been tracking God’s plans for some time only to discover opposition at every turn, take heart, you’re not alone! In fact the Bible says, “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." Though the Thief comes to kill, steal and destroy, Jesus has come to give you an abundant life. And this is God’s plan for you!  

As you acknowledge the Lord in all you do you can be strong in the purposes of God for your life no matter what the opposition may be. So, keep your eyes on Jesus and, in faith, stand against the lies of Satan. Remember, the one in you is far greater than the one in the world! 

God-tracking is standing sure in God’s plans for you.   

Keep your eyes on Jesus.

Forgive me for taking my eyes off your plan for me and looking at my difficult circumstances. I know the devil will do all he can to derail me but I refuse to bow to his temptations and attacks. I fix my eyes on Jesus and so stay on-track with your plans and purposes for all my life, wherever they may take me. Help me through this time of trial and help me to be strong, because I know, nothing will separate me from the love of Christ. Amen!”

Dear God Tracker 

God-Tracking Is Drawing Your Faith from His Grace 

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.” Gordon was reading from Romans 5 during our prayer time this morning. The five of us were praying about several large needs in our church, needs that would require copious amounts of faith – and grace – to be realised. As Gordon read those words I had the strangest image of myself making a cup of tea. I was bent over a steaming cup of boiled water with teabag in hand.  Then saw myself drop the bag into the water and watched as the hot water turned a lovely tea colour. The longer a watched the stronger and more fragrant the tea became, and I do enjoy a strong cuppa! 

“What’s this mean,njoy a stronmg atched the strong ther tea became!ed from clear to a strong as bent over a steaming cup of boiled wat Lord?” I quizzed silently in prayer. I then began to smile as I understood what the Holy Spirit was impressing on me: “Faith is a teabag!” I understood that the hot water represented God’s grace while the teabag represented my faith. In order to make a half descent cup of tea one needs hot water and tea. Our salvation and our answered prayer depend on two ingredients, too – grace and faith. Grace is God’s doing (the work of Jesus on the cross) and faith is my humble acting upon God’s grace. Like a good cup of tea needs hot water and a teabag, my interaction with the Lord Almighty requires his grace and my faith. Now, the longer I leave the teabag to draw in the hot water, the stronger my cup of tea becomes. Likewise, the longer I rest my faith upon his grace the stronger my walk with God becomes. 

Are you facing issues in your life that you feel are insurmountable? Is your bank overdraft overdrawn? Or perhaps you are ill in body or soul or are praying for a loved one who is ill? Well, if you are, then you will need faith to see the hand of God move. Faith pleases God who he rewards all who come to him and seek his will. God is able to do far more than you could ever expect him to do for you. So today immerse your faith in God’s gracious power and ability and be confident that he who promised is faithful, and he will answer your prayers. And while you’re about it… put the kettle on.  

God-tracking is drawing your faith from his grace.
