In 2 Corinthians, Paul talks about his thorn in the flesh. He says, “Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Second Corinthians is a personal letter, revealing Paul’s pastor’s heart. The church in Corinth was rebellious and immature, and Paul's authority and teaching had been undermined.

I want to suggest that Paul’s thorn was burnout. Paul had given his all for the churches he’d planted. Some were thriving while others, like Corinth, turned out to be a thorn in the flesh. Yet, Paul writes, God’s grace is enough, and his power is made perfect in our weakness.

Whatever your thorn in the flesh, perhaps burnout, never quit! Keep your eyes on Jesus and rest in God’s grace. Grace is God’s doing! And he will do it!
