“We read that the sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. The Word, as contained in the Bible, confirms the actions of the Holy Spirit while the Holy Spirit activates the Word of God, for God watches over his Word to perform it.”
Psalm
119:105
Your
word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Concerning the Bible, George Muller, the great evangelist and director of the Ashley Down orphanage in Bristol, England said, “The first 3 years after conversion, I neglected the Word of God. Since I began to search it diligently, the blessing has been wonderful. I have read the Bible through one hundred times and always with increasing delight!" John Bunyan, who wrote Pilgrim's Progress, said this, "Read the Bible, and read it again, and do not despair of help to understand something of the will and mind of God, though you think they are fast locked up from you. Neither trouble yourself, though you may not have commentaries and expositions; pray and read, and read and pray; for a little from God is better than a great deal from man."
The Bible is the hardcopy of God’s word to you and me. The Bible is the source of our understanding of God. The Bible is the most treasured possession I have. However, the Bible is only a book. It is the message of the Bible – its words – that come from God. And these words are inspired and propagated by the Holy Spirit. Just as my word is the embodiment of who I am, so God’s Word is the embodiment of who he is. In fact, the Word and the Holy Spirit are synonymous. We read that the sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. The Word, as contained in the Bible, confirms the actions of the Holy Spirit while the Holy Spirit activates the Word of God, for God watches over his Word to perform it.
However, reading the Bible can sometimes become a chore. Some folks say they fall asleep reading the Bible. This was my original experience. Later I discovered that I did not need to rush to read it all as soon as possible. I learnt to read it slowly. You see, you have the rest of your life to read the Bible, so read it for the rest of your life. Read small sections at a time (most modern Bibles are divided into headings). Pray before you read, then read and pray again after you have read and see how the Lord will activate his Word in your life. As you follow these suggestions, you may find that you read one verse many times without getting anything from it. Then, the very next time you read it jumps out at you. That is the activation of the Holy Spirit upon his Word in your life.
So, I say, get into God’s word and get God’s word into you!
God-tracking is getting into the word of God.

SO, DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY
Dear God, teach me, rebuke me, correct me, and train me in righteousness as I read the Bible
“Heavenly Father, thank you for the Bible. Thank you that you inspired men to pen these words over millennia and have preserved them for me to hold in my hands today. Help to understand what I read. Help me to enjoy reading the Bible. Activate your Word in my life and help me to follow its commands. I pray that you will lead me to the books in the Bible to read at exactly the time in life when I need to read them. Dear God, teach me, rebuke me, correct me, and train me in righteousness as I read the Bible. Amen.”
