Dear God-tracker
God-tracking is stomping on the snakes and scorpions in your life
In Bible times people did not have the luxury of motorised transport or railway systems in order to travel from one location to another. The only modes of transport they used to travel cross county were camels, horses, donkeys and their feet. The Judean terrain was very unforgiving. Roads were little more than rocky and dusty pathways infested with scorpions and snakes. The average traveller travelled by foot – feet clad with nothing more than open sandals. I’m sure there must have been many a time when travellers were stung by scorpions or bitten by snakes. These were the very real hazards faced by any traveller in biblical times.
When the 72 disciples returned after Jesus had commissioned them for a short missions trip (which they undertook by foot, I might add) they were so excited to tell of how even demons obeyed the authority of Jesus’ name. Jesus explained that he had witnessed how Satan was cast from heaven after his rebellion against God. He then went on to say, “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” Jesus knew that they would well understand this analogy as referring to their authority over Satan and his hordes by their experience of trekking the scorpion and snake infested pathways of the desert in open sandals.
As you track the plans of God, dear friend, you will often find yourself walking along demon infested avenues. The Bible says that the devil is waiting to devour us at every turn. But take heart, Jesus has given you authority to trample on these scorpions and serpents. He has given you authority, in his name, to overcome all the power of the enemy. And the enemy’s power is nothing more than lies; lies about your health, your finances, your future, and your relationships. So believe the truth of God’s word when it says that if you acknowledge the Lord in all your ways he will direct all your paths. So walk boldly in the victory that Christ has given you by the power of his name, as you track God’s paths for your life. And when those snakes and scorpions try to attack your feet, trample on them with all authority! Remember believer, the One in you is a thousand times greater than the one in the world!
