Steve was packing up his guitar after leading worship one Sunday evening. He’d been in this church for three years and had built good relationships. Just then, Ron walked up to him.

“Steve,” he said, “I need to tell you something. I want you to know that I’ve always had a problem with you. But it’s all sorted now. I’m ok with you.” Ron promptly strode away, leaving Steve wondering what it was about him that Ron didn’t like. Ron’s heart was now “ok”, but it was Steve who was now left with the “problem”.

Words are like superglue. Author Ted Chiang said, “Four things do not come back: the sped arrow, the past life, the neglected opportunity and the spoken word.” Scripture says the words we speak inspire life or bring death.

“Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!” Psalm 141:3

God-tracking is speaking words of encouragement.
