“Stand strong! He is your shield
and the One who lifts your head. Don’t be tempted to fight the way of the
world, fight by the way of David.”
2 Corinthians 10:3
For
though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
We know the story well of how young David overcame the Philistine giant, Goliath. The Philistine army and the Israelite army were at a standoff. To decide the victory, they opted for champion warfare where one army would select its strongest warrior to battle the strongest warrior of the other in one-on-one combat. The victor would win the battle for his army. So, Goliath, a mighty giant of a man, was chosen by the Philistines but none of the Israelite men were prepared to fight him.
Along comes David, a teenage shepherd boy, whose brothers were fighting on the frontline. He came to the battlefield with supplies for his brothers. Hearing Goliath’s threats, young David, filled with the Holy Spirit offers to fight the Philistine. So, King Saul clothed David with his personal armour, but this was not what David was used to. So, David takes off the king’s armour and advances against the giant with a mere slingshot and five smooth stones. With God’s help, David slings a stone at Goliath which hits him squarely in the forehead. Concussed, the giant falls to the ground, at which point the boy David beheads him with his own sword. David was victorious not by the ways of man but by the ways of God.
Are you facing a giant today? When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. Don’t be tempted to adorn yourself with the regalia of the world, stand strong under the standard of your Lord. When fighting your giants, turn to the weapons that God has given you rather than what the world tries to put on you. Your weapons are supernatural and mighty in God for tearing down strongholds. The world will offer you its carnal armour to deal with your giants but, in Christ, you have armour far greater than what the world could ever offer you: a breastplate of righteousness, shoes of God’s word (stand upon the word of God), a shield of faith, a helmet of salvation (to guard your thoughts), and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
So, stand strong! He is your shield and the lifter of your head. Don’t be tempted to fight by the way of the world, fight by the way of David. David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, he will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. You will win the fight.

SO, DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY
“I trust you, O Lord, to bring me victory in this fight. For the battle is not mine, but God’s.”
“Dear God, I’m in a battle. I refuse to give up and choose to look up. You are my shield and the lifter of my head! I don the armour of the Lord, in this battle, and refuse the regalia of the world. You are the source of my healing, my provision, my guidance and my victory. I trust you, O Lord, to bring me victory in this fight. For the battle is not mine, but God’s. Amen!”
