Be encouraged to seek the Lord’s healing. Then pray for someone to speak to and open your heart without reserve.”

Luke 6:45
For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Pete had been bottling up his anxieties for some time. He’d suffered an emotional breakdown and, though he’d moved on from the situation, he’d never really talked about it. Pete found it very difficult to open up so he prayed for an opportunity to offload his concerns on someone who would be unbiased and understanding. That day arrived over a cup of coffee with a good friend. Pete emptied his heart. His friend listened. Somehow, Pete did not receive much advice from his friend but by simply talking his problems through he was relieved. The healing had begun.

Talk therapy is for anyone who's going through a bad time or has emotional problems they need help with. For many adults, it may be the same as or more effective than medication. Talking can help an individual gain a better understanding of their emotions, identify roadblocks and obstacles and overcome anxieties and insecurities.

God’s word exhorts us to confess our sins (or anxieties) to one another. The Holy Spirit is called our counsellor. He is the One who knows our thoughts and our anxieties. We are encouraged to cast our cares on him because he cares for us. Ultimately, when I talk with a friend, the Lord is in our company. Therefore, he hears my heart as I share my thoughts. And the Lord is the Healer.

So, if you can relate to Pete in our story today, be encouraged to seek the Lord’s healing. Then pray for someone to speak to and open your heart without reserve.”.

“I pray for an opportunity to offload my thoughts on a friend who will love me and listen to me without passing judgement.”

“Dear God, I have been bottling up these feelings and thoughts for too long. I believe that you know my heart and you are the healer of my soul. Your word tells me that it’s out of the abundance of my heart that my mouth speaks. So, I pray for an opportunity to offload my thoughts on a friend who will love me and listen to me without passing judgement. I cast my cares and anxieties on you now, O loving Lord, and trust you for healing. Amen.”

Stand strong! He is your shield and the One who lifts your head. Don’t be tempted to fight the way of the world, fight by the way of David.”

2 Corinthians 10:3
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

We know the story well of how young David overcame the Philistine giant, Goliath. The Philistine army and the Israelite army were at a standoff. To decide the victory, they opted for champion warfare where one army would select its strongest warrior to battle the strongest warrior of the other in one-on-one combat. The victor would win the battle for his army. So, Goliath, a mighty giant of a man, was chosen by the Philistines but none of the Israelite men were prepared to fight him.

Along comes David, a teenage shepherd boy, whose brothers were fighting on the frontline. He came to the battlefield with supplies for his brothers. Hearing Goliath’s threats, young David, filled with the Holy Spirit offers to fight the Philistine. So, King Saul clothed David with his personal armour, but this was not what David was used to. So, David takes off the king’s armour and advances against the giant with a mere slingshot and five smooth stones. With God’s help, David slings a stone at Goliath which hits him squarely in the forehead. Concussed, the giant falls to the ground, at which point the boy David beheads him with his own sword. David was victorious not by the ways of man but by the ways of God.

Are you facing a giant today? When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. Don’t be tempted to adorn yourself with the regalia of the world, stand strong under the standard of your Lord. When fighting your giants, turn to the weapons that God has given you rather than what the world tries to put on you. Your weapons are supernatural and mighty in God for tearing down strongholds. The world will offer you its carnal armour to deal with your giants but, in Christ, you have armour far greater than what the world could ever offer you: a breastplate of righteousness, shoes of God’s word (stand upon the word of God), a shield of faith, a helmet of salvation (to guard your thoughts), and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

So, stand strong! He is your shield and the lifter of your head. Don’t be tempted to fight by the way of the world, fight by the way of David. David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, he will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. You will win the fight.

“So, trust in your Lord without depending on your own perceptions of the size of the boulder in your field. It’s definitely not as big as you thought.”

Proverbs 3:5Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

An old farmer had ploughed around a large rock in one of his fields for many years. He had broken several ploughshares on it. One autumn he sat down on the rock before attempting to plough the field again, remembering all the trouble that it had caused him. “I’m tired of battling with you,” he mused to the old boulder. “You’ve caused me too much trouble for too long.” He rose mumbling and walked to the shed at the edge of his field. Returning with a crowbar he dug it under the rock. To his amazement he discovered that it was only about six inches deep and he could easily remove it from his field.

Sometimes, when facing problems in life, we make mountains out of mole hills, don’t we? We look at our difficulties from a distance, grumbling that there’s a boulder in our field we can’t move. But we serve a mighty God! He deeply loves us and desires to deliver us from all our dreads. Jesus said, “Which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? How much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” In fact, Jesus taught us that if we had faith the size of a mere mustard seed, we could move mountains.

The Lord has a great future in store for you. He knows the plans he has for you; plans filled with hope and abundance. Put your confidence in his plans. Rest in his provision, healing, strength and grace (remember, grace is God’s doing!). When the heat is turned up quote God’s Word: “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” So, trust wholeheartedly in your Lord without depending on your own perceptions of the size of the boulder in your field. It’s definitely not as big as you thought.

I look to you, O Lord, to meet my needs and direct my paths. Thank you that you have a good plan for my life; a plan of hope and abundance. I put my trust in you. Lord, you are my trust! Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

I awoke with a start. The phone at my bedside was howling. I glanced at the red numbers on my alarm clock: 02:50 “Hello,” I groggily said trying to surface from deep sleep. “Dudley. It’s Eugene.”

“Eugene! What’s up.”

“I’m afraid. I’ve done it again. I’ve done it again!” he groaned, “I keep doing this thing over and over. Can you please come round?”

My friend Eugene was a young man who lived alone and had problem with pornography. He knew Christ as Lord but had become addicted to watching indecent videos through peer pressure, and now he was hooked. His habit had become a mountain that he kept going round and round in a sin, repent, sin, repent cycle. Eugene needed to repent of sin and renew his mind.

Science tells us that the human brain is comprised of neurons. Neurons are specialised nerve cells that have finger like projections called, dendrites. Like all human tissue, dendrites are made of protein. Through metabolism, proteins can be built up and broken down. Science says that the dendrites of the neurons in our brains are in a constant state of flux. Therefore, it is possible to change the patterns, habits and responses of our brains. Indeed, you can change your mind!

I counselled Eugene to confess his sin to God again. I told him, if we confess our sins, God is faithful to forgive and cleanse us, always. Faithfulness is consistent. God will consistently forgive us if we faithfully confess and repent of our sin, with full intention to not do it again. And Eugene’s mind needed to change. So, I encouraged him to renew his mind by getting into God’s Word and getting God’s Word into him. Pornography was a mountain to Eugene. Instead of going round his mountain time and time again, I encouraged Eugene to seek God for professional help to overcome his addiction, and change his mind by prayerful repetitive confession of God’s Word.

Whatever your mountain is, let me encourage you to call on the Lord. He is faithful and just to help you get over your mountain, instead of repeatedly going around it. It is certainly possible to change your mind. Beware of self-pity. Repeatedly fill your mind with God’s positive Word. And remember, he is faithfully right there with you even in the thick of despair.

I make a conscious choice to renew my thinking – to change my mind

“O Lord, I admit to my sin and repent, in the name of Jesus. Thank you that you executed justice for my sake upon Jesus at Calvary. Thank you that you are consistent in your forgiveness. I make a conscious choice to renew my thinking – to change my mind – by filling my thoughts with your Word. Lord, help me overcome my mountains and gain victory in every adverse circumstance. GOD-TRACKING IS CALLING ON THE NAME OF JESUS!

Romans 10:13
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Tammy paused as her eyes moistened. Then she continued, “My father would enter my room late at night when the rest of the house was in darkness. Night after night he came.” She drew a deep breath through a sob. Tammy was telling her story of how, from a young age, she was abused by her father. Her mother was an alcoholic and offered no support. At the age of 17 Tammy left home. At a party one night she was introduced to drugs. “For the first time in my life I felt free of the pain. When I was high, I remembered nothing but when I came down again, the depression was overbearing,” she said. Sadly, Tammy became addicted to heroin and contracted Hepatitis B from contaminated needles. Not yet 22, Tammy had no reason to live. Fear, depression, depravity and disease consumed her.

One night, Tammy was planning to take her own life, but she was away from home. Needing a ride back, she’d called her mother. As they drove back to her one-room apartment, an old song was playing on a Christian station on the radio: Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face, and the things of the earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace. Tammy now sat, sobbing, on the edge of the bath. She held the grey 9 mill in her hand. But, those words burned within with more intensity than its hot bullet ever could: the things of the earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace. “Dear Jesus, help me!” she cried.

A true story I once heard, told by a lovely lady called, Tammy. The grace of God and the love of Christ had won the day, that day when Tammy called on the name of Jesus. She had put the gun down and cried out to the Lord she had learned about in Sunday School. Gradually peace filled her heart and miraculously she was delivered from heroin addiction. God did such a great work in Tammy that she was even healed of Hepatitis B; doctors could find no trace of the virus in her body. Today, Tammy shares the love of Jesus everywhere she goes. She says, “Only one person can change your life, and that’s Jesus.”

The Scriptures tell us, there is no other name by which we can be saved; saved from fear, depression, depravity and disease. It tells us that the name of Jesus Christ is greater than any other name in heaven, on earth or under the earth. Whatever your calamity, whatever your history, whatever your fear, depression, depravity or disease, call on that name, today.

God-tracking is calling on the name of Jesus!

I believe now that there is salvation in no other name. So, come into my life, Lord Jesus.

“Dear God, I call on the name of Jesus Christ, now! Help me, Lord, through this chaos in my life. I believe now that the name of Jesus Christ is greater than anything I could ever face. I believe now that there is healing and restoration in that name. I believe now that there is salvation in that name. So, come into my life, Lord Jesus. I am sorry for all my sin and I now completely surrender my life to you. I believe that Jesus died and rose again and I now confess him as Lord of my life. Amen.”

GOD-TRACKING IS SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH HIS EYES

Psalm 139:1
O LORD, you have searched me and known me!

My children and I were lying on our backs on the grass gazing up at the Milky Way on a night black canvas of clear sky. Myriad stars blinked and glistened, light years above us. “Spectacular, isn’t it?” I said. The mesmerised star gazers made no comment. “Do you know that we are on the edge of our galaxy looking back into it at about 200 billion stars spanning a distance of about 100,000 light years? This means the twinkle of that little star over there,” I said pointing to a speck of cosmic glitter far away, “is coming to us from tens of thousands of years in the past.”. “You’re gazing across space and time, beyond your wildest imagination.”

God views our lives like that. He can see our beginning and our end in one picture. The Lord sees you for who you are and where you are in all of space and time. God said to John in his vison of the end times, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty." Notice the word “and”. God is and was and is to come, all at the same time. In other words, he is outside the bounds of space and time.

Whatever you’re facing today know that God knows all about it. He knows how you got into that mess and he knows how you will get out of it, with his help. In fact, he’s there already on the other side of that wall meeting your every need. God saw you in the womb and he can see you in the tomb. As you acknowledge the Lord in all your ways, he will hem you in, behind and before, and lay his hand upon you.

So, fix your eyes on Jesus, the founder of your faith. Allow him guide you by his Word and his Spirit, moment by moment. Though the Lord can see the whole picture of your life, he is as close to you as your own breath. Trust in God for his help and guidance; trust in him for his deliverance and provision and trust in him for his strength and healing, without leaning on your own understanding. Your God can see the whole picture if you.

God-tracking is seeing your life through his eyes.

Dear God, help me to see my life as you see it

“O Lord, forgive me for taking my life into my own hands. I often forget that you are eternal and immortal. You are the holy God who loves me and has saved me from eternal ruin, through Jesus Christ. I confess now that you have my life in your hands. I admit and confess that you know my beginning from my end and I acknowledge you in ALL my ways, trusting that you will heal me, guide me, provide for me and help me to serve you in every way. I commit to being a God-tracker, tracking your everlasting plans and purposes for my life. Dear God, help me to see my life as you see it. Amen.”

Dear God Tracker

Pray With Your Eyes on Jesus and Not Your Problem

My blood ran cold as my wife relayed the message to me that she’d just received from my daughter-in-law. Our newborn grandson had been rushed to hospital with a temperature in excess of 39 degrees Celsius. Little Ruben had taken our lives by storm; I wasn’t going to sit back and allow the devil to take his life from him. Karen and I rushed to the hospital and, together with my son and his wife, we laid hands on his little body. At that moment I just knew he would be alright. However, the next day when we arrived to visit him, we found his parents outside the ward, in tears. Little Ruben had deteriorated and stopped breathing. Medics resuscitated him and sent him to intensive care. Yet, with hundreds of people praying for him around the world, I just knew he would be alright.

After only 24 hours in ICU he was discharged back to his ward. Several tests were done but the doctors found nothing wrong with baby Ruben! A few of days later he was home. By God’s grace and comfort, the family had pressed in and taken God at his word: “…they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well,” (Matt 16:18).

Oswald Chambers once said, “We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties.” Could be you’re facing a crisis right now, as my family did last week. Let me encourage you to pray and hear from God. God’s word is jam-packed with promise and hope. Receive his word and walk in the hope it offers. You see, the Lord is already on the other side of your difficulty making way for you to get there. No matter what the devil throws at you; no matter how circumstances may bend in the process, know that your God is faithful and he is quick to deliver you. So pray with your eyes on Jesus and not your problem.

God-tracking is getting through to the other side.

Every blessing

Dudley

Don’t Give-up, Look-up!

Look-up and Fix Your Eyes On Jesus!

Thank You for Answering My Call

Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Pray
“Dear Lord I just feel as though I can’t go on any more. It seems as though this problem has consumed me. But dear Lord I know that you know what I’m going through. Help me to hold on to your promises and the hope your words offer me. Help me to track your path until I eventually get to the other side of my worries. I surrender my anxieties to you right now! Lord forgive me for my doubts. I thank you that you will meet my need and help me get over this mountain. I fix my eyes on Jesus and not my problem by presenting my prayer to you with thanksgiving, O God. Thank you for answering my call. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
