Dear God Tracker
God-Tracking Is Praying For Healing, Always
I run a prayer chain at our church and have had the privilege of posting numerous prayer requests to those who have signed up to be part of the chain. We have seen many, many answers to prayer and lives touched by the heart of a praying church. However, looking back over just the last 7 months and comparing general prayer requests with requests for healing I was astounded to discover that 76% of all the requests we received in just these few months were for healing! Therefore, I think I could safely conclude that health and healing are by far our greatest needs.
I have also been studying the miracles of Jesus. Please bear with me as I continue to bore you with more statistics: I discovered that of all the miracles that Jesus performed that are documented in the four gospels, 66% of them were for healing. This statistic does not even take into consideration the more than 10 other references to healing throughout the gospels where we read that Jesus compassionately healed great crowds of people who came to him. In fact, Jesus performed so many healings that this aspect of his ministry often left our Lord so physically exhausted that he often sought a quite place to rest.
If these stats are true, as I believe them to be, then we need to view health and healing as a very significant part of our work on earth. As Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing,” (John 14:12). Sadly though, I often hear people saying things like, “Oh, don’t pray for healing in case God does not heal and people are disappointed.” If Jesus prayed for healings and Jesus taught, “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons,” (Matthew 10:8) then we have an obligation to pray for healing in obedience to Jesus’ command. Therefore, dear God Tracker, we have no choice in the matter but to pray for the sick and expect the compassion of Christ to manifest healing in his name. And God always heals!
God-tracking is praying for healing, always.
