Dear God Tracker
He Is Already On the Other Side of Your Need So Allow Him to Direct Your Paths
The Holy Spirit reminded me of the importance of continuing to acknowledge God in every decision we make in life as I re-read a letter from a listener of my old radio show, On-Track. In it she explained how she and her husband loved the Lord and attended a good church. They both had had good jobs and, together with their little girl, were a very happy little family. However, out of the blue one day their security was stripped away when her husband was made redundant from his job, leaving her as the sole bread winner on a very small income.
Slowly the pressures of maintaining their lifestyle began to take their toll on the marriage. Sadly they began to take their eyes off of Jesus as their needs became mountainous before them. Gradually they stopped going to church and they slumped into a depression. One day her husband announced that he wanted to move to a new town and start over. She however, did not want this, which added more conflict to the marriage. Their financial needs worsened. Eventually her husband left and moved to a new town while my listener remained where she was with her little girl. They had neglected to acknowledge the Lord in their dilemma and had lost sight of his paths for their lives.
As her husband travelled, he was confronted with many problems and difficulties until he finally reached rock bottom. He had lost his job, his home and his family. It was not long before he came to his senses, turned around and returned home to his wife and child. In his humility he began to hear that still voice of the Holy Spirit whispering, “You have forgotten me! Don’t you know that I desire to bless you and guide your every step? Return to me, acknowledge me in all your ways and I will be your guide, your healer and your provider.” Returning to church they rediscovered the sweet pleasure of knowing the presence of Jesus in their lives. Their joy gradually returned and they experienced that peace which transcends understanding. At the end of the letter my listener wrote, “My husband still does not have a job but God is near to us as we experience one blessing after another.”
By the Holy Spirit the apostle Paul said, “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength,” (Phil 4:12-13). Dear God Tracker, to acknowledge the Lord in all your ways is to seek his knowledge of your paths in every situation of life. He is already on the other side of your need so allow him to direct your paths.
