2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

A story is told about one of the world's most renowned photographers, Edward Steichen, who almost gave up on the day he took his first pictures. At the tender age of 16, young Edward bought a camera and took 50 photos, but only one turned out – a portrait of his sister sitting at the piano. Edward's father thought that he was wasting his time, but his mother said that the photograph of his sister was very beautiful. She insisted that one picture more than made up for his 49 failures. Her encouragement convinced the youngster to stick with his new hobby. He stayed with it for the rest of his life. What tipped the balance for Edward Steichen? A word of encouragement to persevere in the midst of much failure.

Failure has a bad habit of being the most discouraging force in one’s life. For a person who has not succeeded at something, failure can be viewed as an impenetrable high wall, impossible to scale or demolish. But failure is only failure if one fails to try again. Failure has one crack in its formidable structure – the inability to persevere!

It could be that as you’re reading this today, you’re grappling with the prospect of failure. It might be that you have put much effort into a dream or a project only to feel that you’ve wasted your time. Perhaps you’ve been serving the Lord all your life, but you’re still contending with that proverbial thorn in the flesh, thinking, “I keep doing what I don’t want to do and not doing what I should do.” But listen: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness,” and, “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”

God has wonderful, rich prospects for you today. His promises are all yes and amen in Christ. Are you in Christ? If you have put your faith in God and accepted Christ as saviour, then you are in Christ. And if you are in Christ, then you’re in the same place as the promises of God. Never fear failure! The Holy Spirit is your source and your resource; your confidence and your courage. Be encouraged to never give up. Get up and try again. Demolish that wall of failure with the hammer of perseverance.

God-tracking is never, never, never giving up!

Don’t Give Up, Look Up & Pray

By your grace, I will persevere!

“Dear Lord, I feel like a failure! Forgive me for quitting. I’m sorry for doubting your grace. I believe that grace is God’s doing; your grace saved me at Calvary nearly 2,000 years ago, and your grace empowers me to keep going today. So, I repent of allowing failure to get the better of me, and I choose now to put my faith in your grace for the strength to try and try again. I acknowledge you as my Lord, and I acknowledge your hand upon all I set my hand to do. By your grace, I will persevere! Amen.”
