Dear God Tracker
God-Tracking Is Being Strong in His
Joy
I
have been incredibly blessed this year with the birth of two beautiful
grandsons, one from my son and one from my daughter. These two little mites
have brought such joy into my life. I love to simply sit and watch their little
faces as they explore their new world: every movement, every touch, every
sound, smell and taste a novel adventure of discovery. Then as one of them may
turn his little eyes to his granddad and smile it makes my heart swell with
delight. It makes me want to sing and dance.
Listen: “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty
to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he
will rejoice over you with singing,” (Zephaniah 3:17). Dear God Tracker, the
Bible says that you’re the apple of God’s eye. If you have acknowledged Christ as
Lord and Saviour then you have drawn near to Father and have opened yourself to
his care and love and joy. Just like a humble human dad (or granddad) your God
and Father rejoices over you with
singing. And here’s the bottom line: the joy of the Lord is your strength!
If you’re feeling down in the mouth or a little
weak in the knees today then let me encourage you to take your eyes off of your
difficulties as you seek to track God’s purposes. Look up and smile at Jesus.
Then like a granddad who is filled with joy at the smile of his grandson, he
will be filled with joy for you and give you strength. Paul reminds us to
rejoice in the Lord. And in case you didn’t get it the first time he says, “I
will say it again: Rejoice!” If God’s joy over us is our strength then let’s
laugh in the face of the enemy and tell him, “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

With The Joy That You Give I Lack Nothing
James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers,
whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of
your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you
may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Pray
“My Lord and Father, thank you so much that you
rejoice over me. I know that, in Christ, like King David, I have become the
apple of your eye. Forgive me for ever taking my eyes off you. Today I choose
to not give up but look up into your lovely face and tell you that I really,
really love and appreciate you. Thank you that you rejoice over me. Thank you
that your joy is my strength. And thank you, O Lord God Almighty that I can
face all the difficulties and trials in my life with joy because I know that
through them you are making me a better person. With the joy that you give I
lack nothing. Amen.”
