Dear God-tracker

God-tracking Is Letting Go Of Offence

I was packing up my guitar after church one Sunday evening when Jim came up to me. I noticed the stern look in his eye and wondered what was wrong. He paused for a moment then blurted out between clenched teeth, “Dudley, I have known you now for two years and I just want to say that I have always had a problem with you. But I’ve sorted it out now and it’s all okay.” Then Jim turned on his heals and strode away, head held high. I gazed at the back of his retreating head, dumbfounded. What did I do? What was his problem, with me? Am I such bad bloke that I offend people for so long without the slightest idea what I’ve said or done. Now I was the one with the problem.

One thing I have learned in the course of my days is that there is a small emotional spot in our minds that holds all our emotions, good and bad. Let’s call it the emotional bucket. This bucket has limited space and when it’s full up it overflows with the majority of what it holds. Fill it up with negative emotions and it will overflow with negative emotions; fill it up with positive emotions and it will overflow with positive emotions. For some reason Jim had filled his emotional bucket with negative hurts and offences to such an extent that he was overflowing with bitterness and criticism.

Something else I have learned over the years is that our God cares about our hurts and offences and is concerned about your emotional wellbeing.  For instance, Jesus once said, “Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” On the contrary, the devil hates your sense of wellbeing and will do all he can to wreak havoc with your emotions. He will entice you to hold onto offence or keep a record of wrongs. He will entice you to harbour all those negative emotions within your little emotional bucket to the extent that you will become embittered and grieved. Don’t let this happen. Just let go! Pull the plug of forgiveness on that emotional bucket and allow all your negative emotions to drain out on the floor instead of overflowing into the lives of other people.

What is trACker?
GodTracker and trACker owe their origins to an international Christian radio programme produced by Dudley Anderson called, OnTrack. Although OnTrack went off-air in 2005, trACker has continued to help people to track God's plans and purposes for their lives since July 2003.

I Let Go Of My Harboured Offence

Pray:
“Father I know now that  have been harbouring hurts and offences in my heart. I am sorry and I realise that this effects only my life and that in a bad way. I choose to lay down all my negative opinion and grievances against all the people you have offended me in the past. I confess this to you, alone. I choose to forgive and pray that you will help me to feel forgiveness of those who have hurt me. Lord, today I pull the plug on my emotional bucket and I let go of my harboured offence. In Jesus’’ name. Amen.”
