Seek him to fill you with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills to fulfil your calling.”

Exodus 31:3 (NIV)
and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills

There is a clear distinction between talent and anointing. I have witnessed many talented singers and musicians lead worship with skilful musical prowess but they lacked the deeper sense of the presence of God. And, undoubtedly, these worship sessions are wonderful. However, I have come to differentiate between talented musicianship and anointed musicianship.

The Israelites who left Egypt were primarily masons and brickmakers. I doubt there were any experienced artisans or craftsmen in their number. However, when God instructed Moses to construct the most elaborate and ornate tabernacle, skilled craftsmen were required. For instance, we read how, when God gave Moses the patterns for the high priest’s attire, he anointed the able-bodied with a spirit of skill. These men, indeed, must have had a natural talent to create these decorative garments but they lack the training or experience. Therefore, the Holy Spirit comes upon them and anoints them with a spirit of skill.

Perhaps you’re feeling inadequate in your work for the Lord today. Perhaps you are a talented musician, singer or preacher yet you feel you lack the skill to minister. Let me encourage you to seek the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Seek his anointing for the skill to which he has called you. It’s not by your natural skills, power or might that you will achieve the purposes of God, it’s only by the Holy Spirit. Seek him to fill you with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills to fulfil your calling.

God-tracking is skilfully ministering by the Holy Spirit’s anointing.

“So, I call upon you now, O Holy Spirit, to fill me with the spirit of skill to touch lives.”

“Dear Lord, thank you so much for this auspicious opportunity you have given me to serve you. And thank you for the natural talent you have given me to function in this way. However, Lord, I feel I lack the training and experience to adequately fulfil this job, So, I call upon you now, O Holy Spirit, to fill me with the spirit of skill to touch lives for the sake of the Gospel. I surrender my raw talents to you and seek your skills anointing. Amen.

When interference seems to come along in one way or another, the secret is to allow space for God’s will to be done. This technique involves two concepts: quietness and patience.”

Psalm 142:3
When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You knew my path. In the way in which I walk, they have secretly set a snare for me.

In this quest to follow God’s will, one thing I’ve discovered is that other people often seem to “get in the way” of what I perceive as being God’s purposes in my life. It seems that often, just when I’m getting somewhere, someone else comes along and sets a snare for me, usurping my position.  Ever been there?

Scripture makes it plain, all the ways of a man seem pure in his own eyes, but the Lord checks the heart. It tells us that a man plans his way but the Lord directs his path and if we commit our works to the Lord, he will establish our steps. When interference seems to come along in one way or another, the secret is to allow space for God’s will to be done. This technique involves two concepts: quietness and patience. Quietness and trust are your strengths. So, rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.

Life’s burdens can sometimes be overwhelming but the Lord knows your path. No one knows your situation better than he does. When you don’t know what to do, you can turn to the Lord in prayer. He knows the best solution and he will show you the way. Bill Wilson said, “It’s not important what you achieve in life it’s more important what you set in motion.” I pray that you will learn the secret of waiting quietly and patiently for God to direct your path according to his purposes.

God-tracking is patiently resting in his path.

“Help me to wait quietly and patiently for your will to be done.”

“Father God, it’s happened again. Just when things seemed to be working out for me, someone got in the way and confused my path. Yet, O Lord, I know that my ways are not directed by any man. You are the director of my life. So, I turn to you now, in prayer, as I ask for your vindication and direction. Resolve this conflict and help me to wait quietly and patiently for your will to be done. Amen.”

We trust Jesus when it’s his plan for us to stop today. And we trust Jesus when it’s his plan to guide our steps for tomorrow.”

Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Like most people, I often find myself longing back to those so-called, good ‘ol days. At my age, I have enjoyed not too few wonderful opportunities to share the Good News. I have had the great privilege of broadcasting God’s word on radio for the best part of 30 years. I have led small groups and large groups. I have enjoyed decades of music ministry as a worship leader and have had the honour of pastoring a church for 15 years. All these past years of great ministry privilege have been most fruitful. However, as I write, I tend to find myself reminiscing the good old days, without contemplating the good new days that God might still have ahead for me. Can you relate to this scenario?

Evangelist and Bible teacher, J. John said, “Jesus guides our steps and guides our stops." We often rejoice when new and prosperous opportunities open for us on this path of life. Unfortunately, when these opportunities eventually come to a close, we mope about longing for how things were. Scripture makes it plain; God knows the plans he has for us. His plans are always good and thriving, filled with purpose. In Proverbs, we read that if we acknowledge God in all our ways, then he will direct our life track.

Now, faith is the confidence in things we hope for. We cannot hope for what we already have or what we have previously had. Hope is futuristic. Therefore, we hope that God’s plans and purposes will work out for us today as they have done so in our past. Consequently, we trust Jesus when it’s his plan for us to stop today and we trust Jesus when it’s his plan to guide our steps for tomorrow.

God-tracking is walking in his steps and stops.

“I submit my future to you, O Lord, and have faith that you will fulfil the plans you know you have for me.”

“Dear Father, thank you for the promise in your word that you have plans for my life. I believe you are the God of my yesterday, today and tomorrow. Therefore, I trust your guidance in my life to stop and your guidance in my life to step. I submit my future to you, O Lord, and have faith that you will fulfil the plans you know you have for me. Amen.
