“So, may we cease in our strife and be still before the Lord. Make space for the vengeance of God and not fret when people carry out their wicked schemes.”

Isaiah 54:10
“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD.

There’s a prayer I find myself praying every day as I watch the news on television, “Lord, save us from us!” As a follower of Jesus, I desire to live by the ethics and morals of God’s word. Yet, I am daily saddened and frustrated when I witness how godly ethics are being increasingly degraded by twenty-first-century egotistic indoctrination.

Not only are we facing a complete decline in biblical morality these days but with, so-called climate change, we’re facing increased natural disasters like never before. Then there are those wars and rumours of nuclear wars. The world is shaking. “Dear God, save us from us!”

However, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Though the ways of man violate the ethics of God’s command, though the globe may be warming and the climate changing, though superpowers rise up against one another under nuclear threat, yet our God’s unfailing love will remain, unshaken and everlasting. Our God is eternal. Underneath us are his everlasting arms. He will never abandon us and his love endures all our diverse and disastrous dilemmas.

So, may we cease in our strife and be still before the Lord, making space for the vengeance of God and not fretting when people carry out their wicked schemes.

God-tracking is quietly resting in God’s command.

“…though men are succeeding in their wicked schemes, I choose, O Lord, to be still and rest in your command.”

“Dear God, save us from us! By your grace and mercy, undertake in the ways of man and avenge the truth. Bring peace where there is conflict. Bring healing where there is hurt. Bring truth and biblical ethics where there is moral decay. To me it seems the ways of man are in deadly decline but, although men are succeeding in their wicked schemes, I choose, O Lord, to be still and rest in your command. In the name if Jesus I pray. Amen.

“Refinement is a product of grace and grace is God’s doing.”

1 Peter 1:7
that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honour, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,

Talking about refinement, John Bevere says, “God puts us through the process because he is more concerned about us finishing well than starting well.” Refinement is a product of grace and grace is God’s doing.

I have a 9-carat gold wedding ring on my finger. When I look at it, it appears to be gold but, in fact, my ring has only 9 parts gold out of 24 parts. The remaining 15 parts comprise other metals such as nicol, tin, silver and zinc. These metals are not as dense as gold. Therefore, if my ring was to be smelted in a crucible the gold would sink to the bottom while all the unwanted metals would float to the top. I could then take a ladle and scoop off the 15 parts of impurity and be left with 9 parts pure 24-carat gold.

Sometimes difficulties in life can prove to be your crucible immersed in a furnace of fire. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego knew what it was like to face difficulty. They had denied the king’s edict to bow to a statue and were cast into a super-heated furnace. The king expected them to be incinerated but when he gazed into the fire he did not see three men, he saw four. The Lord himself was in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. Charles Spurgeon said, “As sure as God puts his children in the furnace, he will be in the furnace with them.”

That’s God’s grace. Grace is God’s doing and grace rescues us from harm. When apostle Paul underwent this process, the Lord said to him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” Refinement is a product of grace and grace is God’s doing.

God-tracking is being refined by grace.

“If grace is God’s doing then do it in me, O Lord, that I will come out finer than 24-carat gold.”

“Dear God I feel like I’m in the furnace today. Nothing is going right for me. It seems everybody is against me and I face difficulties on every side. Yet, I acknowledge you in all my ways, even in my difficulties. You are Lord of my life and I submit to this fiery furnace in the knowledge that your grace will refine me and pull me through. If grace is God’s doing then do it in me, O Lord, that I will come out finer than 24-carat gold. Amen.”

“He laid down his life for you. Your worth is infinite. God made you and God saved you.”

Psalm 8:4
What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?

“I'm beginning to get a glimpse of man's worth,” wrote my good friend Andre Kempen. “God made us in his image and saved us to restore that image, by Christ, in us. God not only made us but saved us. We are twice his.”

God is omniscient. That means he knows all things about all things. There is nothing in all the universe that God does not know. He knows every neutron star out there, pulsating out its great energy every second. He knows the depths of every black hole at the centre of every galaxy. And he knows and sees the origin of every minute photon as it is formed in the heart of the sun. He even knows the very number of hairs on your head.

Scripture tells us that God knew you before you were born. In fact, because of his omniscience, God knew you at the beginning of creation. You were created in his image: beautiful, holy and good. When you (and I) fell from God’s goodness because of sin, he had a plan to save you from sin’s consequence and reconcile you to his goodness. This he accomplished through the death and resurrection of his only begotten son, Jesus. If you confess Jesus as Lord and believe that he died and rose again you shall be saved. You are twice his – created in his image and reconciled to his image.

My friend Andre went on to write, “You are the pinnacle of God's creation. Angels long to see what you see. Your worth is valued by the precious blood of Jesus. He laid down his life for you. Your worth is infinite. God made you and God saved you.”

God-tracking is twice loved.

“Thank you that you know the number of hairs on my head, something I don’t even know! I acknowledge you O lord in all my ways.”

“Dear Lord, thank you, thank you for your great love and intimate knowledge of me. I believe that Jesus died at Calvary to reconcile me to my created image and rose from the dead so that I may be born anew. I repent of all sin and confess Christ to be Lord and Saviour. Thank you for your plans and purposes for me. Thank you that you know the number of hairs on my head, something I don’t even know! I acknowledge you O lord in all my ways and trust that you will direct my steps according to the plans you know you have for me. Amen.”

https://soundcloud.com/godtracker/gtwd-275-god-tracking-is-praying

“Whether you and I are praying about our humble needs or interceding about world affairs the power and might of the eternal and omnipotent Creator responds because he loves us.”

Psalm 4:1
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

Prayer is the most fundamental function of every believer. Prayer opens the floodgates of heaven. Prayer delivers the heart from harm. Prayer reveals the nature of deity. Prayer encounters eternity. How God answers my prayers is a mystery to me. It flabbergasts me how the almighty eternal and omnipotent Creator hears me when I clumsily babble on about my humble needs. Except that he loves me. What a privilege!

William Barclay said, “When we pray, remember: 1. The love of God who wants the best for us. 2. The wisdom of God that knows what is best for us. 3. The power of God that can accomplish it.” Prayer is more than simply falling to one’s knees once a day for a 10-minute hurried Our Father. Prayer is a moment-by-moment cognitive realisation that the God whom you love and who loves you is with you in every situation, good or bad.

When describing the coming of the Holy Spirit, Jesus called him the counsellor. Holy Spirit is with you every moment of every day guiding your every step. He hears your every breath and graciously listens to your clumsy babbling on about your humble needs because he loves you.

A good friend of mine, Evangelist George Miller once said, “What prayer can do, God can do.” Whether you and I are praying about our humble needs or interceding about world affairs the power and might of the eternal and omnipotent Creator responds because he loves us.

God-tracking is praying.

“I present my requests to you with thanksgiving and trust that you will meet all my humble needs according to your riches in glory, in Christ Jesus.”

“Dear Almighty God, thank you so, so much for the great privilege of prayer. I come before you now, in the name of Jesus, and offer you my life. I acknowledge you in all my ways, in prayer, and seek first your kingdom and righteousness. I know, O Lord, that all my needs are wrapped up in your gracious promises. Lord, you know my needs before I pray, so I present my requests to you with thanksgiving and trust that you will meet all my humble needs according to your riches in glory, in Christ Jesus. Amen.”
