Dear God Tracker
God-Tracking Is
Never Quitting the Faith Walk
One
of Jim Burke’s first projects, when he became the head of a new products
division at Johnson & Johnson, was the development of a children's chest
rub. The product failed miserably and Jim expected that he would be fired. However,
when he was called to explain his failure before the chairman of the board, Robert
Wood Johnson, he was most surprised to be asked, "Are you the one who just
cost us all that money? Well I just want to congratulate you,” continued
Johnson. “If you are making mistakes, that means you are taking risks, and we
won't grow unless you take risks." Some years later, when Burke himself
became chairman of Johnson & Johnson, he continued to spread that same word.
God-tracking
is a very precarious lifestyle. As Christians we make the bold statement that
some ancient writings and an invisible force are our guide in life. Then we
make life-changing decisions which are based upon mere belief. Undoubtedly there
will be many times when we will make mistakes and seemingly fail in our
endeavor to please our invisible God or walk by his directives. But just like
Jim Burke in our story above, when we do seem to fail and then approach the
throne of the One we serve we shall hear him say, “Walk by faith and not by
sight!” You see, without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone
who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who
seriously seek him. And faith is being sure of what we hope for and what we
cannot yet see. God-tracking is a
risky business but unless we take those risks we will not grow in faith.
So,
if you’re sulking about today because of some failure in your Christian walk or
because you have failed in your career, your relationships or finances then
congratulate yourself. As Robert Johnson said, “If you are making mistakes,
that means you are taking risks.” And if you’re taking risks then you’re
stepping out in faith and if you’re walking by faith then you’re pleasing God. You
are in good company: Peter, Paul, Elijah, Jonah and Moses, among others, all
made mistakes or seemed to fail at one point or another. If you made no
mistakes in life then you’d have something to boast about but God’s word
reminds us to boast in the Lord, not in self. Therefore, continue to
acknowledge the Lord your God in all you do and trust that, no matter how many
mistakes you make, he will still direct your paths.
God-tracking
is never quitting the faith walk.
Keep
your eyes on Jesus.

Lord I Seek Your Blessing
Proverbs 10:22
The blessing of the LORD brings wealth,
and he adds no trouble to it.
Pray
"Dear Father God, I
confess that I have made many, many mistakes in life. Sometimes I feel like a
right failure. I do repent of the times that I have disobeyed you or failed in
sin in any way. Sin is always wrong and I turn from sin. However, Lord for the
times that I have honestly endeavored to succeed in my work, my family and my
private life but have failed I ask for your
strength to get up and try again. I put my faith wholeheartedly in you and your
power to succeed in all I do. Your word reminds me that your blessing brings
success – Lord I seek your blessing
and continue to acknowledge you in all I do. Amen."
