Dear God-tracker
GOD-TRACKING IS TAKING UP DIVINE ARMS AGAINST THE DEVIL’S SCHEMES
Romans 12:21
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
We see the images all too often on our TV screens of victims of terrorism running, screaming, bleeding after a cowardly attack. As I watch, I taste the bile of anger rising in my throat. I’m not naïve and do realise that we do not live in single-minded blissful political and religious utopia but I cannot understand why some people resort to merciless killing of innocent children for the sake of their cause. The natural man in me rises with vehement vengeance in his heart. But then I remember our Lord’s words, “I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
It is a perfectly natural inclination to want to retaliate when we’re hurt by others. In the worst-case scenario of terrorism, we might even fantasise about taking up arms to fight those who kill our children. Indeed, we need the protection of a credible armed defence force (and we need to pray for our brave soldiers who lay their lives on the line for our safety) but, when I personally become consumed with passion for vengeance, I remember our Scriptures say, “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’”
If you sometimes feel like I do when you watch the news, then I suggest we take up arms! The weapons in our arsenal are mighty but the weapons we fight with are not guns or bombs, they are divine. This war we fight is not of the flesh but of the spirit. Our enemy is not the suicide bomber but the invisible satanic force behind his motivations and actions. Christian, we have several weapons at our disposal but the greatest weapon we have is prayer. We have the liberty and authority to pray in the name of Jesus, and his name is above every other name. We have the liberty and authority to speak the Word of God in prayer. The Word of God is a double-edged sword, powerful enough to divide soul and spirit, bone and marrow.
So, if you’re facing a war in your life today; if you find anger rising in your throat like bile every time you see that person who challenges your every move, don’t allow your natural man to take the bait. Turn to Jesus and put him on like the armour of God. Your fight is not against flesh and blood but against devilish powers in the spirit realm. So, love that person who opposes you but wield the Sword of the Spirit against the forces behind them.
God-tracking is taking up divine arms against the devil’s schemes
Blessings
Dudley
Don’t Give Up, Look Up!
Dear Lord, I commit my fight to you. Help me to have grace and strength to stand against my enemy
Pray
“In the name of Jesus, I take up my divine weapons. I declare that the name of Jesus Christ is greater than any power, force or opponent I face. I wield the Sword of the Spirit – the word of God – and declare, ‘Greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world.’ I wield the Sword of the Spirit and declare, ‘The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble!’ I wield the Sword of the Spirit and declare, ‘no weapon that is fashioned against me shall succeed.’ My fight is not against flesh and blood but against the powers of darkness in heavenly realms. Therefore, I pray for every militant terrorist and every opponent of peace that they will abandon their cause and seek the living God – the God of love. Dear Lord, I commit my fight to you. Help me to have grace and strength to stand against my enemy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
