Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS PUTTING YOUR CONFIDENCE IN GOD AND REFUSING TO GIVE UP!

1 Thessalonians 5:24
He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.

My little grandson lay on a small bed in the ICU of the children’s hospital. Pipes and cables coming from his little body, this tiny 3-week-old was connected to machines that both monitored his vital signs and sustained his life. A few days prior Ruben was rushed to hospital, gravely ill. Convulsing violently, the doctors tried to reduce his body temperature, to no avail. His little body was trembling, but not a sound came from his mouth. Suddenly my wife and I and Ruben’s parents were hastily ushered out of the small cubical, as an emergency team rushed in with resuscitation equipment. Ruben had stopped breathing. My son and his wife held each other, sobbing. Karen and I stood by a window gazing at the children’s play area outside. “Dear God, we rebuke this illness. We rebuke this death. You are the Lord our healer. Your word has instructed us to lay hands on the sick; this we’ve done. We claim Ruben’s life and healing, in Jesus’ name!”

From the start of his illness, we prayed for Ruben’s healing. The scriptures tell us that God is our healer. The Bible says that if we lay hands on the sick, they will recover. It also says that a prayer of faith shall make the sick person well. Well, Karen and I and Ruben’s parents were praying that prayer of faith. We stood on God’s Word without wavering.

Ruben was resuscitated and subsequently rushed off to the Intensive Care Unit at a children’s hospital in another town. I could tell the doctors were very concerned for him. The ICU staff were set in for the long hall in caring for little Ruben. But we had prayed! Twenty-four hours after he was admitted to ICU my grandson opened his eyes. A few days later he was on his way home. Our God is the Lord who heals!

Faith outs its confidence in the other. When one climbs aboard an aeroplane one does not have faith in his own skills to fly the craft but places his complete confidence in the one he cannot see, he who is both skilled and willing to raise him together with a couple of hundred other people, 33 thousand feet above the ground and then land them safely again at their destination. As Corrie Ten Boom said, “Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable and receives the impossible.” Faith in God is confidence in his power and willingness to meet our needs, heal our sick and guide our every footstep along our life’s track.

Whatever obstacle you’re facing today; whatever your need, be it healing, provision or guidance, stand on God’s Word without wavering. He is faithful and he will do it!

God-tracking is putting your confidence in God and refusing to give up!

Every blessing

Dudley

Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS HAMMERING AWAY AT OBSTACLES IN LIFE WITH TENACIOUS FAITHFULNESS

2 Corinthians 4:16
So, we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away,
our inner self is being renewed day by day.

Blow after blow John beat away at the brick wall with his sledge hammer. The wall was not high but it was sturdy. The hammer fell at the base of the wall with force… twenty-seven, twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty blows. John paused and wiped his brow. His arms ached, yet the wall stood firm. Thump! He hit the wall with another blow. The wall fell in a heap of dusty rubble at his feet. The question arises, which blow brought the wall down?

In the book of Daniel, we read how Daniel prayed and fasted for 3 weeks, seeking God for the deliverance of his people from Babylonian bondage. Twenty-one days had passed then, on the last day of his fast, God revealed great mysteries to the prophet in a vision. Daniel did not experience the vison after only two days or eight days or ten days of prayer. Daniel endured his 3-week fast, day after day, waiting on God, not knowing when God would answer. That great vision arrived, according to God’s timing, on the last day of his fast. The question arises, which day of prayer brought on God’s revelation to Daniel?

Tenacious faithfulness is seen in both these stories. Neither men knew which moment would bring the fulfilment of their cause, yet they stubbornly persisted until the answer came. So, which blow against the wall; which day of fasting, brought on the desired result? The answer… all of them. With passionate hope these men set out on their quests, persisting in their causes without any visible results until, finally, the answer came. Each of John’s blows weakened the wall until the final one brought it crashing down. For Daniel, each day of prayer and fasting added to the other until the moment arrived when God came through in a great vision. Endurance. Persistence. Tenacity.

By the Holy Spirit Paul said, “I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Dear friend, never doubt for one minute that you are making progress in your faith walk, provided you keep your eyes on Christ. Every up and every down adds to the other until you eventually excel in the purposes of God. Don’t lose heart as you slog away at the walls in your life. Your inner self is being renewed day by day. So, don’t give up, look up! Look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen, in tenacious faithfulness.

God-tracking is hammering away at obstacles in life with tenacious faithfulness

Every blessing

Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS CALLING ON THE NAME OF JESUS!

Psalm 72:12
For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.

“He bashed my head against the wall and beat me until I passed out,” said Raj as she related her life story with me in a radio interview. “All because I was prevented from going through with an arranged marriage he had planned for me.” Raj had grown up under intense physical and emotional abuse. She had been repeatedly raped since a very early age. Her parents were not Christians but they were very spiritual people, however, the spirits they worship were not of God. One day, in her mother’s prayer room, Raj called on god for help – any god. To her surprise, her prayers were answered. Not until many years later, after being introduced to Jesus, did Raj realise that it was the only True God who had answered her childhood prayer.

“In my mind, I tried calling on all the names of all the gods and gurus I knew, but he continued to strangle me,” said Raj describing how she had been attacked by a man who she had developed a relationship with after fleeing her home at 18. “Then from deep down I remembered the Christian God. I called, ‘Jesus!’ and instantly he released his grip,” she said. “I was stunned. Sadly though, I didn’t give my life to Jesus at that time. My life was still in a mess. I just wanted to die. One day I tried to commit suicide but God prevented me from succeeding. It was then that I realised, Jesus was the only true God. He’d saved my life – more than once. He healed my pain and restored my hope,” said Raj. “I gave him me.”

Raj Holness had had no education about Jesus Christ or the God of Abraham. Her parents were polytheists, yet when she had called out in total despair the Lord our God had answered her. God is no respecter of persons; he doesn’t only hear the cries of Christians. (In fact, if God only listened to Christian believers, I would not be writing these words to you today.) He is caring, impartial and deeply gracious, and saves all who call on is name.

Dear friend, as you read this you, may be able to relate to Raj’s story. You may be suffering rejection or find yourself under emotional attack. Let me encourage you to call on the name of Jesus, in faith. On the other hand, you may not be under such intense abuse, yet may be feeling low and dejected, today. It could be you simply need a new lease on life – a fresh breath of life. God’s Word tells us that faith pleases God and he rewards those who earnestly seek him. So, if you’re weary and burdened, come to him in faith now and he will give your soul rest.

God-tracking is calling on the name of Jesus!

God bless you

Dudley

Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS NOT OF YOUR OWN DOING; IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD’S GRACE

2 Corinthians 5:21
For our sake, he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

“I’ve been watching these YouTube videos about righteousness, and we’ve got it all wrong,” said Jess to me after church one morning. “They were saying that unless a person is completely sinless after giving his life to Jesus that he isn’t really saved.” Jess went on to say how the video explained that we are indeed, saved by grace through faith but unless there is an instant cessation of all sinful or inappropriate behaviour in the person being saved, he or she is not truly born again. The theology the YouTube video was propagating implies that grace can only be fully appropriated by good works following confession of sin. However, this concept completely undermines grace. After all, grace is God’s doing. Therefore, if I supplement my salvation by good works does that not undermine God’s work in my life? Good works and sinless living are a consequence of God seeking, or as I call it, God-tracking. Sanctification is the process of becoming more righteous on a daily basis, from the moment we confess Christ as Lord.

Jesus Christ was the only completely righteous person who has ever lived, yet God placed on him the sins of us all when he died, for the wages of sin is death. But Jesus did not remain dead, he rose again! Jesus Christ bore the curse of sin, once and for all, at Calvary and rose from the dead breaking its hold over those who confess him as Lord. Scripture tells us that he who is sinless became sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God (notice, it’s not my righteousness but God’s righteousness in me). For those who are in Christ are no longer confined to the old nature of sin but become new creations before God. Though I long to be free from this mortal body of sin and be with my Lord in paradise, the Lord God has given me his Holy Spirit to dwell in my mortal body, here on earth. So, for as long as I am in this body of sin, I walk by faith and not by sight; I walk in fellowship with his Holy Spirit in me. I track God’s purposes daily by faith in the confidence that his grace has freed me from slavery to sin. Grace is God’s doing, not my doing!

However, because I am now freed from sin by God’s grace, this does not give me free-reign to sin! For as much as my inner spirit man is renewed and filled with the God’s righteousness by his grace and the fellowship of his Spirit, so my outer bodily man must deal with temptations and repent of committed sin. Repentance is not a one-off confession. Repentance is a daily turning away from sin and a striving to never commit the act again. And if I do sin, God has made a way for my cleansing: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

I tried to explain this to Jess but to no avail. She’d made up her mind to follow the YouTube teaching. Sadly, Jess left our church and has walked away from the grace of God. She is attempting to earn God’s favour through good works and not by grace.

God-tracking is not of your own doing; it is the gift of God’s grace

Keep your eyes on Jesus

Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS BEING BUILT UP DAY BY DAY INTO GOD’S PURPOSES, DESPITE DEVILISH OPPOSITION

Nehemiah 6:9
For they all wanted to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will drop from the work, and it will not be done.” But now, O God, strengthen my hands.

Jesus and his disciples were probably standing near the pagan temple of the Greek god Pan near Caesarea Philippi in northern Israel when he turned to his men and asked, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” The temple of Pan was built near a large cave in a rocky cliff near the source of the Jordan River. Water gushed up into a turbulent pool at the opening of the cave, thought to have been bottomless. People would sacrifice their children to Pan by throwing them into the pool. The currents would draw them under and if they immerged meters away in the river below then the people believed Dan was pleased with the sacrifice. Consequently, this cave became known as the gates of hell.

Peter answered Jesus, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” Jesus blessed Peter and, perhaps under the shadow of the temple of Pan, said, “I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Jesus is building his Church. You are part of that Church, if you acknowledge the Lordship of Christ, as Peter did. This year is going to be a year of building. The Lord is spiritually building you into a mighty man or woman of God. The Lord is building your local church body just as he is building his body worldwide. The Lord is placing living stone upon living stone in his living temple of which Christ is the Cornerstone.

However, this year will also be a year of opposition. Satan apposes everything God builds. When Nehemiah began rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, as inspired by God, he was opposed on every side. His enemies did not appreciate that he was rebuilding the Beautiful City so that the Jews could worship God. The opposition to the building became so intense that builders built with one hand on their swords.

God has a purpose for you in this living temple he is building; a purpose to see his body grow in spirit and in stature. The Lord has great adventures in store for you as he personally builds your business, your family, your career and your ministry. So, I say to you today, hold fast to the promises of God and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, as he builds you up into the person you’re destined to be. And put on the whole armour of God so that you may be able to take your stand against the schemes of the devil. Jesus is building his Church and even the gates of hell will not prevail against it!

God-tracking is being built up day by day into God’s purposes, despite devilish opposition

Every blessing

Dear God-tracker

ANNOUNCING: The Reality
A fresh new half-hour Christian radio programme, featuring lives touched and changed for the good, for good by the reality as found in Christ.

A welcome to new subscribers to this free e-mail devotional. Welcome too, to readers of the GodTracker blogs on Linkedin, Wordpress, FaithWiriters and Google Blogger. This e-devotional has been impacting lives since its inception in 2003. GodTracker developed out of a Christian radio programme I produced between 1998 and 2005 called, On Track. On Track was broadcast on shortwave radio across central/southern Africa and via several FM Christian radio stations in the region and enjoyed an estimated listenership of millions.

The Bible says that God knows the plans he has for us. If this is true, then it’s God who knows these plans, we don’t. It also says that God has predestined good works for those who are saved by grace, through faith; we are his workmanship. If this is true, then I believe God has a plan and a purpose for your life and mine. Therefore, we need to look for his plans; we need to track God’s purposes through payer and his Word. This is a process I call, God-tracking.

GodTracker has been adapted for radio and is broadcast on several radio stations around the world as a 60-second radio spot. As part of this radio ministry I have also developed a new half-hour show called, The Reality. The Scripture tells us that the Law of God and religious traditions are a mere shadow, while sure reality is found in Christ. The Reality features short teaching and chats with people whose lives have been touched and changed by the reality of Christ.

Listen to The Reality online at…

A massive THANK YOU to all who have already shown their support to this ministry. We pray the Lord’s richest blessings on you. If you feel you might commit to help produce The Reality then please consider sowing into this ministry by clicking the DONATE button at godtracker.co.uk to donate via PayPal. More than anything, we appreciate your prayer support for this work.

Keep on tracking the plans and purposes of God.

HERE’S WISHING YOU AND YOURS A VERY BLESSED AND PURPOSEFUL 2017

Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS STANDING STRONG AGAINST THE ENEMY IN THE POWER OF GOD’S MIGHT

Luke 10:19
Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.

Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” In this context, he is referring to the false prophets who came before him and who were responsible for perpetrating lies; they came as thieves to steal the sheep by their falsehood. Elsewhere, of Satan, Jesus says, “He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” Therefore, we can safely say that the thief who comes only to steal and kill and destroy is Satan

Satan is the enemy of God and of his people. He is everything that God is not: God is love, Satan is hate; God is truth, Satan is lies; God is a giver, Satan is a thief; God is life, Satan is death and God builds while Satan destroys. From the beginning, Satan has been intent on undermining God’s purposes and stripping man of God’s truth. In Eden, he caused mankind to doubt God’s purpose for them and drew them into rebellion. Satan was not Eve’s friend when he tempted her. Only an enemy would entice someone into falsehood and sin. Since the beginning, Satan is intent on stealing God’s purposes from you and me. Since the beginning, Satan has been determined to destroy you and steal God’s blessings from your life. Since the beginning, Satan has been out to murder God’s people and kill his purposes for them.

Why not make this New Year a time to renew your seeking of God’s gift of life and his benevolent purposes for you? Your enemy, the devil, is still intent on stealing God’s blessings from you and destroying God’s plan for your life. But God knows the plans he has for you. His plans are for your abundance and to build a hopeful future for you; Jesus came to give you abundant life! This is a time to renew your acknowledgment of the Lord in all your ways and to step out in faith, trusting in him every step of the way. And, by the authority of God’s Word, this is a time for you to tread on serpents and scorpions, and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing shall hurt you! By his Blood Jesus triumphed over Satan at Calvary.

I believe that, across the world, the devil has fresh plans to attack God’s people in this year and undermine God’s goodness: Christian persecution, disease, poverty, terrorism, failing economy, and uncertain politics. However, we know that he who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. If God be for us, who can be against us? Nothing shall separate us from the love of God and his purposes for us. In Christ, we are more than conquerors. He is our source and our resource. He is our provider and our helper. He is our comforter and our counsellor. So, commit your ways to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act on your behalf.

God-tracking is standing strong against the enemy in the power of God’s might.

God bless

Dudley

Don’t Give Up, Look Up!

Therefore, under the Blood of the Lamb, I stand strong in the strength of your might and take my stand against the devil’s schemes in Jesus’ name.

Pray
“Lord Almighty, I know and confess that you are eternal, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and sovereign. You, O God, are great and mighty. Who can stand against you. Your Word and your Name are exalted. In love, you sent your Son to redeem my life and reconcile me to your purposes of worship and service. Today, I confess that you are Lord of my life. I am found in Christ and he in me. Nothing can separate me from that love! You who are in me, are greater than the devil who is in the world. Therefore, under the Blood of the Lamb, I stand strong in the strength of your might and take my stand against the devil’s schemes in Jesus’ name. Amen!”

What is GodTracker?
GodTracker is a weekly e-mail devotional based on the premise that God has a plan for our lives. His word calls us to seek his will by acknowledging him in all our ways and tracking this plans in faith.

GodTracker owes its origins to an international Christian radio programme produced by Dudley Anderson called, On Track. Although On Track went off-air in 2005, GodTracker has continued to help people to track God's plans and purposes for their lives since July 2003.
