Dear God Tracker
In the Face of Opposition, Preach the Good News!
I am very honoured to know a bunch of young guys who have a sense of the call of God to preach the gospel on the streets in our town centre. Every Saturday they meet for a coffee and pray about their morning outreach. Then they move out into the public places downtown and simply declare what God has done in sending his One and only Son, Jesus to die as a ransom for the sins of the world. These young men are not acclaimed Bible teachers; they’re not trained orators or super-duper evangelists but they are super in God’s eyes for their bold faith and obedience. Some of the crowd that pass by as they share their hearts respond with a smile or a nod. Others flat ignore the street preacher. Thankfully one or two do stop and chat but there are many who turn on them with darkness in eye, hurling insults and abuse at this little team of humble heroes.
One Saturday morning as a new comer to the team ventured to share his faith like Jesus had commanded him to, a passerby deliberately walked close by him and kicked out at him as he passed. In the same town, on other days, a street market is run where people set up their goods to sell. One of these stalls is a butcher who, from the side of a van, calls customers to buy his merchandise with a loudhailer. However, I have never seen or heard of anybody who has kicked him for his public address. You see, it has little to do with the man but much to do with the message.
Jesus said, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first,” (John 15:18). As we seek to track God’s plans and purpose we will, more often than not, discover ourselves going against the flow of the world around us. If we are bold enough to obey God’s command to “go into all the world” then we will soon find ourselves being insulted and kicked by that same world. A Bible hero who was bold enough to follow God’s command to preach on the streets of his town was the prophet Jeremiah. Listen to what he said: “You understand, O LORD; remember me and care for me. Avenge me on my persecutors. You are long-suffering--do not take me away; think of how I suffer reproach for your sake,” (Jeremiah 15:15). The gospel is a “stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall,” (1 Peter 2:8). Dear God Tracker, keep up the good work and, in the face of opposition, preach the Good News!
God-tracking is laying those “stones that cause men to stumble”.
Be strong
Dudley

Verse of the Week
1 Corinthians 1:22-23
Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles
Quote of the Week

“Preaching should break a hard heart and heal a broken one.” --- John Newton
Don’t Give-up, Look-up!
Look-up and Fix Your Eyes On Jesus!
I Stand Firm in You
Luke 21:17-19
17 All men will hate you because of me. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish. 19 By standing firm you will gain life.
Pray
“Lord thank you that you have called me to present the truth to my friends and family. Thanks for the privilege of the great commission to ‘go’. But it is tough at times, because people abuse us. Help me to stand true to your call and never give up. Help me, O my Lord, to serve you in exactly the way you want me to. Help me to be boldly obedient despite the opposition. And help me to see results as your word touches and changes live. Today, Lord, I stand firm in you. Amen.”
