Dear God-tracker

God-tracking is fanning the fire of God’S WORD in your bones

Growing up in the Highveld of South Africa I was accustomed to bush fires. We used to call these wild fires veld fires. Veld fires were always mostly prevalent in the dry winter months when the grasses were long and brittle. It would only take a small spark or a smouldering cigarette end to start a fire in the grass, but once started veld fires were almost impossible to control. Everything in their path would be obliterated: trees, bush, wildlife, crops and sometimes people’s homes. You could say these fires were zealous and ravenous for more fuel. They were not content to only burn in one patch and then stop. They would eagerly consume the veld until all that was left was smouldering patchwork like burnt toast.

The prophet Jeremiah said, “His word was in my heart like a burning fire.” This prophet knew well the meaning of being consumed by the zeal of the Lord. He was a man called to bring a solemn and condemning word to the people of Judah, against their rebellion and moral decay. This word that God had given Jeremiah consumed him. He was compelled to speak even though his outspokenness landed him in serious trouble within his community. Jeremiah was sold-out for God and totally committed to serving Him. There was not an ounce of apathy in the man. The fire shut up in his bones prohibited him from being indifferent or lethargic. I dare say fire can most certainly never be complacent!

Is there a veld fire burning in your heart today? Are you filled with the zeal of the Lord like the prophet Jeremiah or even the prophet Elijah, who stood against the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel? If so then allow that fire to consume you; allow that fire shut up in your bones to daily motivate you to be sold-out for Jesus. Jesus said to Apostle John in the book of Revelation that he wishes people were either cold or hot, but because they are lukewarm he would spew them from his mouth. So let’s be motivated by the zeal of the Lord to be consistent at church, consistent in prayer and consistent in filling our hearts with more of the fire of his word.

Verse of the Week

Jeremiah 20:9Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.

Quote of the WeekSample of Dudley’s Fave Quotes

“The fire of heaven can’t be second-rate, used fire, second hand, worn, losing its quality. God has only one kind of fire: ever- fresh, bright, flaming, leaping and brand new." --- Reinard Bonke

Don’t Give Up, Look Up!Look up and Fix Your Eyes on Jesus!

Your word is fire in my heart. I am weary of holding it in. Indeed, I cannot
“Dear God, forgive me for being complacent and allowing the fire in my heart to burn out. Thank you for the small spark that can set a forest ablaze, that still resides there. Today I fan that glow into a fiery furnace. Today I want to commit myself to serve you in every area of life with zeal and passion. Dear Lord, help me be consistent in my worship and Bible reading. Help me to be consistent in my love for others and in showing them the love of God. Your word is fire in my heart. I am weary of holding it in. Indeed, I cannot. Amen.”
