“You
may feel like a lump of mud on a potter’s wheel, but the Master Potter has not
abandoned his work; he is reshaping you to be his jar of clay, filled with his
Spirit for his good purposes.”
Ephesians
2:19
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

I
recently attended a conference where the theme was, It Ain’t Over till God Says
It’s Over. As someone who has experienced a hiatus in his work and calling, I
know what it’s like to reach a point where you question what you’re supposed to
be doing in life. Past successes have come and gone, leaving you feeling
satisfied, yet spent and past failures have reaped their grim reward leaving
you feeling disappointed and forlorn. Ever been there?
Norwegian
preacher, Mats Ola shares the story of his father who was a successful church
pastor. By the time he reached his early 50s, he’d developed a thriving ministry.
Then out of the blue, came unvalidated severe criticism. Eventually,
broken-hearted, his father was forced to resign and leave the ministry. Mats’
dad turned to business and was soon making a great deal of money. Ten years
later, at a church conference, Mats Ola’s father had an encounter with God and
was challenged to return to the ministry. At age 64, after attending Bible
College with his wife, Mats’ father was called to pastor a church in the far
north of Norway, where the sun never rises in winter. Here he ministered God’s
word until he died at age 94.
In
Jeremiah 18 we read of how God called the prophet down to the potter’s house
where he watched as the potter fashion a fine vessel out of a lump of clay.
However, there was a flaw in the vessel and the potter was dissatisfied with
his work. So, he crumpled it up and began refashioning it again until it was
perfect in his eyes. Perhaps the Lord is refashioning you today. You may feel
like a lump of mud on a potter’s wheel, but the Master Potter has not abandoned
his masterpiece; he is reshaping you to be his prize jar of clay, filled with
his Spirit for his good purposes.
It
ain’t over till God says it’s over! God knows the plans he has for you.

GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY
I
know you’re not finished with me yet. I give myself wholly to the work you have
called me to do
“Dear
Lord I feel so abandoned today. I feel as though I failed at what you called me
to do. Please forgive me for any faults I have and, I pray, revision me into
your masterpiece. I know I am no more than a jar of clay but I desire to be the
grandest vessel I could ever be to fulfil the plans you know you have for me.
I’m yours, Lord. I know you’re not finished with me yet. I give myself wholly
to the work you have called me to do. Amen.”
