“So, continue to work as God has called you to work. Continue to pray with persistence. Continue to confess your needs met in Jesus. Continue to patiently march around that city until God’s brings its walls down in his time.”

Hebrews 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us

Scottish minister and hymn writer, George Matheson wrote, "We commonly associate patience with lying down. We think of it as the angel that guards the couch. Yet there is a patience that I believe to be harder – the patience that can run. It is the power to work under stress; to have a great weight at your heart and still run; to have a deep anguish in your spirit and still perform the daily tasks. It is a Christ-like thing! The hardest thing is that most of us are called to exercise our patience, not in the sickbed but in the street."

Sometimes following Christ often places great expectations upon our shoulders. For instance, we read in Matthew that we are all called go into all the world and make disciples of all nations. Yet patience is required to follow God’s directives; a patience in action. Like we see when Joshua led the Israelites to conquer Canaan.

The conquest began with Jericho. God gave his people intricate instructions to march around the city for seven days before he brought the walls down. They weren’t told to sit on their couches and wait for victory. They were told to get up and march while waiting patiently for God to work a miracle.

If you are waiting on God for a miracle, be patient. He is faithful and he will do it. Yet, be encouraged to continue walking in faith. Often, we are tempted to sit down in a state of inaction thinking God will do all the work for us. Faith requires action. James, the bother of Jesus said, “Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

So, continue to work as God has called you to work. Continue to pray with persistence. Continue to confess your needs met in Jesus. Continue to patiently march around that city until God brings its walls crashing down in his time.

God-tracking is marching with patience in faith that God will act

DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

Help me to get on with life while I wait patiently in hope that you will come through for me

“O Lord, it feels like I’ve been waiting ages for this need to be met. I know you have the power and are willing to answer my prayer. I know I need to wait patiently for you to provide. Yet, help me to not be inactive while I wait. Help me to continue to praise you for answered prayer. Help me to continue to confess my needs met according to your riches in Christ. Help me to get on with life while I wait patiently in hope that you will come through for me. I know you will, O Lord. You who promised are faithful. Amen.”
