Pete and Jan were doing well. He was running a successful small business while she looked after the three kids at home. Pete’s business was growing as new opportunities opened to him. Both are Bible-believing Christians, acknowledging God in all they do. Then one day, all hell broke loose. Pete lost a large contract in which he had invested all their savings. Jan fell ill and found it increasingly difficult to care for the children. “Why, O Lord?” cried Pete. “What’s going on? I need help!” Pete and Jan’s story is common. A young couple finding their feet in life only to have the rug pulled out from beneath them. I’ve been there. Have you?

The Bible makes it clear that God knows the plans he has for you. He is eternal, omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent. He knows your situation right now and he will come to your rescue. We read that the enemy of our souls, Satan, prowls around like a lion seeking to devour us. Our battle is not against human forces but against demonic forces in the spiritual realm. Satan is intent on derailing you from the purposes of God.

Be strong and courageous, the Lord is with you. He is your helper. He will meet all your needs according to his magnificent riches in Jesus. He will certainly not abandon you but will surely take care of you. He knows how you got into this mess and he knows how you’ll get out of it. Your Lord is already on the other side of your tomorrow. So, stand together in the power of prayer and set your eyes on Jesus, trusting him as the author and perfector of your faith.

God-tracking is getting through tough times with the care of the Lord.

“I stand strong now in prayer, rebuking the attack of Satan on my family and claiming your blessing, provision and protection.”

And yet, O Lord, I know that you have triumphed over the forces of hell and made me more than a conqueror in Jesus. “You are one of a kind. God has a unique purpose for you. So, pray with the psalmist, “Search me, O God, and know my heart. And lead me in the way everlasting.”

Psalm 139:15
My frame was not hidden from you, when I was made in secret.

In his book on near-death experiences, Imagine Heaven, John Burke writes, “He alone knows who he created you to be. He alone knows what a successful life uniquely means for you, not compared to others but compared to what he had in his mind before he created anything! I believe the reason people having NDEs say, ‘I feel like I’d been here before,’ or ‘I feel like I already existed,’ is because they did exist in the mind of God, eternally.” ¹

The scripture makes it clear that you and I were already in the mind of God before we were conceived. God is omniscient, that is, he knows everything about everything. God is also eternal, which means that he encompasses space and time. Therefore, there is nothing about anything that God does not know, past present or future. He knew your name before the creation of the world. And God knows every nuance of your life, past, present and future. This is great news because it means that you, and I, can rest assured that the circumstances of our lives are wrapped up in his knowing. And if he knows all about you then you can be sure that your life will work out according to the plans he knows he has for you.

The only thing that could distort God’s plan for your life is your own choices. The one auspicious privilege that God has given mankind is free will. So today, make it your choice to follow God’s plans for your life by acknowledging him in all your ways. Scripture assures us that if we acknowledge God in our walk of life then our life’s track will line up with his eternal knowledge of us. Acknowledge God by receiving Christ as Lord and acknowledge God by renewing your mind daily through his holy word. Do this and you will track his will for your life.

You are one of a kind. God has a unique purpose for you. He is acquainted with all your ways. So, pray with the psalmist, “Search me, O God, and know my heart. And lead me in the way everlasting.”

God-tracking is knowing he is acquainted with all your ways.

“The Lord has seen your oppression and heard your cries. He knows! And my God will meet your needs because he loves you.”

Exodus 3:7
And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.

God promised Abraham that his descendants would occupy a land flowing with milk and honey. Abraham had settled in Canaan as a foreigner – the Hebrew. When drought hit the land, his grandson, Jacob moved the family to Egypt. While Jacob’s son, Joseph, reigned in Egypt under the Pharaoh the Hebrews enjoyed prosperity. However, after Joseph died, Abraham’s children came under intense oppression. Life was tough, to say the least. Men slaved day and night for 7 days a week. Women and children were abused. But we read, “The Lord said: ‘I have surely seen the oppression of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.’”

The Lord knows every detail of what you are facing today. He is aware of your challenges and strife. He sees your misery and anguish. He hears your prayers and your cries for help. Your God is concerned for your well-being and peace. He will intervene.

The Israelites were under slavery for 400 years. That may seem a very long time to us. But, I believe, even during those years, their loving God saw their plight and guarded them through their troubles. He knew his people. He knew what they faced. I believe, that if we were to hear the stories of individual men and women during this time we would be astounded at the mercy, grace and care of their Lord Yehovah. And then came Moses.

Stand sure. Don’t give up, look up. Your help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Cast your cares on him because he cares for you. The Lord has seen your oppression and heard your cries. He knows! And my God will meet your needs because he loves you.

God-tracking is knowing he knows.

“Dear Lord, I don’t know how long I can go on. And yet, I know you know my plight. I know you are aware of my situation. So, dear Lord, I rest in the knowledge of your knowledge and acknowledge you in every situation I face. You are supreme. You are sovereign and mighty. I believe that you will resolve this conflict and rescue me from this oppression. I cast all my cares on you because I know you care for me. Amen.”
