The Lord has seen your oppression and heard your cries. He knows! And my God will meet your needs because he loves you.”

Exodus 3:7
And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.

God promised Abraham that his descendants would occupy a land flowing with milk and honey. Abraham had settled in Canaan as a foreigner – the Hebrew. When drought hit the land, his grandson, Jacob moved the family to Egypt. While Jacob’s son, Joseph, reigned in Egypt under the Pharaoh the Hebrews enjoyed prosperity. However, after Joseph died, Abraham’s children came under intense oppression. Life was tough, to say the least. Men slaved day and night for 7 days a week. Women and children were abused. But we read, “The Lord said: ‘I have surely seen the oppression of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.’”

The Lord knows every detail of what you are facing today. He is aware of your challenges and strife. He sees your misery and anguish. He hears your prayers and your cries for help. Your God is concerned for your well-being and peace. He will intervene.

The Israelites were under slavery for 400 years. That may seem a very long time to us. But, I believe, even during those years, their loving God saw their plight and guarded them through their troubles. He knew his people. He knew what they faced. I believe, that if we were to hear the stories of individual men and women during this time we would be astounded at the mercy, grace and care of their Lord Yehovah. And then came Moses.

Stand sure. Don’t give up, look up. Your help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Cast your cares on him because he cares for you. The Lord has seen your oppression and heard your cries. He knows! And my God will meet your needs because he loves you.

God-tracking is knowing he knows.

So, don’t give up, look up & pray!

“I believe that you will resolve this conflict and rescue me from this oppression.”

“Dear Lord, I don’t know how long I can go on. And yet, I know you know my plight. I know you are aware of my situation. So, dear Lord, I rest in the knowledge of your knowledge and acknowledge you in every situation I face. You are supreme. You are sovereign and mighty. I believe that you will resolve this conflict and rescue me from this oppression. I cast all my cares on you because I know you care for me. Amen.”

“So, let’s get intimate with God in all our ways and wait in certain hope that the spring rains will come.”

Hosea 6:3
Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”

I received a text message from a good friend this morning that encouraged me no end. Sean quoted Hosea 6:3 reminding me that the Hebrew word for “know” is yaw-dah, which has a great variety of senses, figuratively and literally. It is the same word that is used in the intimate relationship between husband and wife. Sean encouraged me to press in and know God intimately, that is, to seek the thoughts and plans of God during, especially through the dry seasons of life.

Then, quoting the rest of the verse, Sean said, “I started to imagine what it must feel like when the spring rains finally come. In the dry arid climate of Israel, the spring rains must bring such relief, joy and hope. I feel God is saying to us, during these dry times, relief and joy will come. As the dawn comes after the night, God will come through for us.” Then he added, “So, now is the time, before the rains, to really press in and know God.”

The Covid-19 pandemic has so drastically influenced our societies that lives and livelihoods have been decimated. The pandemic ushered in one of the greatest socio-economic droughts this world has ever known. But God! But God was and still is on his throne. He was and still is the source of our economic, social, mental and physical wellbeing. And God! And God knows the plans he has for us as we seek to know him intimately; plans for welfare and not for evil, to give us a future and a hope.

Therefore, hold on tightly as you seek to know God intimately in all you are and all you do, Live by God’s Word, which reminds us to acknowledge (which in Hebrew is the same word, yaw-dah) the Lord in all our ways and he will direct our paths. So, let’s get intimate with God in all our ways and wait in the certain hope that the spring rains will come.

I rest in your care and the knowledge of your intimacy

“O my dear Lord, I praise you that you are always on the throne and in control of the affairs of man. Forgive me for doubting your knowledge of my situation. I choose to acknowledge you intimately in everything I am and all I do in life. I know that you know the plans you have for me; plans for my welfare and not evil. So, during these trying times, I choose to know you with reverent intimacy. I know the spring rains will come – you will restore my fortunes, as it says in your Word, in your time. I rest in your care and the knowledge of your intimacy. Amen.”

GOD-TRACKING IS TRUSTING GOD’S PLAN

“This is where trust comes in. Despite the stress, despite the burnouts, we can be sure that if we continue to acknowledge God in all – yes, all – our ways, then wherever we find ourselves in life will be precisely where God wants us to be.”

Ephesians 1:11In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will

Books by Dudley Anderson
My mind was numb, as I walked home from the business meeting. For the past one and a half hours, I’d sat around a table with three colleagues discussing the future of our work. Through the haze of pressing issues, I vaguely remember us reviewing our vision and projects. However, somehow, it was as if I wasn’t there. I heard a voice discussing our plans. It sounded like my voice, but it seemed I was listening in from the other room. When I opened the front door and entered my home Karen knew instantly that there was something wrong. I was on the verge of burnout.

I always teach that God has a plan for our lives. The scripture makes that plain. In Jeremiah, we read, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.” And in Ephesians, we read that God’s purpose was for us to know the mystery of his grace, through Christ that we might fulfil our destinies. And in Romans: “All things work together for good for those who are called according to his purpose.” I likewise teach that if we acknowledge God in all our ways, he will direct our paths in life. All this amounts to the main concept of what I call, God-tracking.

Yet, God never promised that tracking his plans would always be easy. For as much as God has a plan for your life so does the enemy of God’s plans, Satan. Satan’s plan is always to derail you from the track of God’s plans for your life. Thankfully, Jesus said, “In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Stress, criticism, loss, illness, anxiety and more are sure to rise up in your life, as you seek to stay on track with the plans and purposes of God.

This is where trust comes in. Despite the stress, despite the burnouts, we can be sure that if we continue to acknowledge God in all – yes, all – our ways, then wherever we find ourselves in life will be precisely where God wants us to be. So, be strong and courageous, he will never leave your side. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, who endured great stress, looking through the cross to see himself victorious on the other side. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don’t lean on your own understanding.

Safe to say, though my circumstances have changed since that formidable business meeting a year ago, God’s plans have prevailed in my life. His plans are for our welfare and not evil, to give us a future and a hope.

SO, DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

You are the uplifter of my soul! Today I place my trust squarely in the plans you know you have for me

“Dear Lord, I don’t know if I can face another day. I feel so empty – so burned out. Loss has overcome me; stress is overwhelming me, and the criticisms are overbearing. Forgive me for taking my eyes off Jesus during this trial. Dear Lord, I consciously acknowledge you again in prayer and commit every part of my life to you. I trust you emphatically and believe you are with me in this thicket. Help me through this, O Lord. Be my strength, my hope and my peace. You are the uplifter of my soul! Today I place my trust squarely in the plans you know you have for me. Amen.”
