“Bring your talents and giftings to the altar of his grace. Offer yourself as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. The altar sanctifies the sacrifice.”

Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Grace is God’s doing. God did it when he sent Jesus to mediate between himself and us on the cross. By grace, through faith, we are saved. God’s grace saved us but God’s grace also equips us to serve him. We are qualified by grace.

Our calling is empowered by the holy grace of God which makes our calling holy. We are all called to all the world to share the love of God. Therefore, we are called to be the best we can be in life and living; to do all that our hands find to do with all our might. So, let’s be dedicated to serving our God. Let’s eliminate the unessential and superfluous time-wasting business in life to give our all to serve him. God has not called you to be more than you are but he has called you to be all that you are.

God’s free Grace qualifies you to serve him so seek his directions and opportunities rather than depending on your own education, planning and qualifications. Bring your talents and giftings to the holy altar of his grace. Offer yourself as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. The altar sanctifies the sacrifice.

There are no accidents or coincidences in the Kingdom of God. God knows the plans he has for you, plans for a blessed and successful future.

God-tracking is reasonably serving God by his grace.

“Help me to be willing to be manipulated and formed by your workmanship for good works.”

“O Father God, thank you for your unearned grace. Only by your grace – your doing – am I saved. And only by your grace – your doing – can I serve you every day of my life. I submit all my talents and skills to your grace. Anoint me to serve you with excellence, O Lord. Help me to make the most of every opportunity in life to share the message of your love, because the days we live in are evil. For your glory. Amen.

“We all suffer flaws in our development over the years but if we are willing to submit to the Lord our Potter, he will refashion us to match his expectations.”

2 Corinthians 4:7
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

I watched as the potter manipulated the clay on his wheel. His skilled fingers drew the wet clay into a fine jar. However, on completion, when the potter stepped back to examine his work, he detected that the lip of the jar was not shaped according to his expectations. Dissatisfied, he crumpled the still wet clay and began carefully reshaping it again to match his standards. This was his workmanship, created for good use. What I noticed, as I watched, was that the potter did not discard the clay on his wheel and replace it with a fresh batch, he simply refashioned the same material to match his intended use.

God gave the prophet Jeremiah an instruction to go down to the potter’s house and watch him shape the clay. Referring to the nation of Israel, God said to the prophet, “Can I not do with you as this potter? Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand.” The inference was, that God was like the potter and his people were like the clay. They had not turned out quite as he’d hoped they would. As a potter might refashion the clay to match his purposes, so God would refashion his people to match his perfect will.

Perhaps you find yourself on the Potter’s wheel today. Perhaps you have been shaped and formed for a purpose over the years but, somehow, you’re a little out of shape. We all suffer flaws in our development over the years but if we are willing to submit to the Master Potter, he will refashion us to match his expectations. As the potter did not discard the clay but reformed it for noble use, so the Master Potter has not discarded you. God will use you, not someone else, to fulfil his plan but be ready to be manipulated. You are clay in his hands. By his grace, you are his workmanship created for good works.

God-tracking is being shaped by the Master Potter.

“Help me to be willing to be manipulated and formed by your workmanship for good works.”

“Dear Lord, I feel as though I’ve not matched up to your expectations in my life. I admit to my flaws and failings. Forgive me, O Lord. Yet, I thank you that you have not discarded me. I humbly submit to your mighty hand. Refashion me as a potter might refashion a lump of clay, to match your great expectations. Help me to be willing to be manipulated and formed by your workmanship for good works. Amen.”

“Wisdom is applied knowledge. In wisdom, God applies his knowledge of your life to your life. However, the wisdom of God is motivated by his love. Love is the root of wisdom.”

Isaiah 55:8
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.

“God chose you out of love and not wisdom, but he reveals his wisdom by his love,” said Evangelist David as he shared the word of God. David is an acclaimed preacher and evangelist. Many, many people have come to salvation under his ministry. He has seen many marvellous miracles of healing when praying for the sick. David is the type of man one might consider a mighty man of God. “I sought the Lord about his calling on my life,” he explained. “I prayed, ‘How can you call yourself wise if you chose a man like me to share your word?’”

God is omniscient. That is, he knows all things about all things. God’s knowledge is infinite and God knows you very well. He knows your past, your present and your future, and he knows the plans he has for you. It takes wisdom to apply plans. Wisdom is applied knowledge. In wisdom, God applies his knowledge of your life to your life. However, the wisdom of God is motivated by his love. Love is the root of wisdom. Out of his love for a young headstrong preacher, God called a great evangelist.

Because of his love, God sent Jesus his only begotten son to take our place in death and redeem us from the curse of sin. To the natural eye, this seems foolish. How could a father sacrifice his son for the wrongdoing of others? Yet, it pleased God, through the foolishness of the cross, to demonstrate his love to a sinful world. God’s thoughts are not like our thoughts, and his ways are greater than our ways. His word to you and me today is: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

David continued to explain that he was no special person. He came from a deprived background with little education, yet due to his unconditional love, God demonstrated his wisdom by calling him to preach the gospel.

God-tracking is resting in God’s wise love.

“O Lord, thank you for your love to me. Thank you that you loved me so much that you sent Jesus to redeem me from the curse of sin. Your wisdom is infinite, O Lord. It’s amazing how you deemed it necessary to reconcile me to your goodness through Jesus. Today I rest in your loving wisdom. I know you have plans for my life. “In your presence I have power and love and a sound mind. Your banner over me is love. And your love casts out all fear!”

2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Pete woke up in a very low mood. He’d been battling with anxiety and depression for a few years. His company had shut down his department some years back and Pete was paid off. Depression had crept in. He had a new job now and no real reason to be down but he was. A fear had gripped his heart that it might happen again. “Dear Lord,” he cried, “I can’t work out why I’m so down. I know I’m secure but this anxiety keeps gripping me. I have a wife and kids, dear Lord. I need this job.” Glancing down into his Bible the words, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind,” jumped off the page.

Depression and anxiety are pandemic mental illnesses in our day and age. More and more people I talk to are suffering with mental health issues, consumed with fears and worries about their personal security and livelihood, not to mention the state of the world at present. In reality, these conditions are nothing new. People in Jesus’ day faced the same issues. Perhaps this is why he taught, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.”

Pete was encouraged by the words he read and searched further in his handbook of life, the Bible. He read: “He has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.” Again, the Holy Spirit quickened God’s word… “A garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness! Yes, that’s what I need. I resist this heaviness in Jesus’ name,” said Pete, “and I don a garment of praise. Praise your name, O Lord! You are holy and you inhabit the praises of your people. Therefore, I know my praise carries your presence. In your presence I have power and love and a sound mind. Your banner over me is love. And your love casts out all fear!” Pete’s low mood melted away. He was filled with the joy of the Lord.

“I choose to NOT give up but to look up and trust the plans you have for my life.”

“Dear Father, praise your name! Hallelujah! I declare your praise in the face of adversity. I rebuke this low mood and call on your name for love, power and sound thinking. Your joy is my strength. I know the devil will do his level best to bring me down through circumstances and depression but I resist him now, in Jesus’ name. Greater are you, O Lord, in me than he who is in the world. I choose to NOT give up but to look up and trust the plans you have for my life. Amen.”
