John 15:2
Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

Imagine your life as a fruit tree laden with wholesome fruit. One day, a gusty wind shakes your branches. Your fruit falls. Children gather it up and are nourished by its goodness. Some remains on the ground where birds peck at, dispersing the seed far and wide.

Over the years, the Lord has produced good fruit in you by teaching you his ways and growing your faith. This fruit contains the seed of the word of God. The Lord may be shaking you up today, disturbing your equilibrium. As your quiet little world is disrupted, the fruit of God’s presence will become evident to those around you, and the windfall will nourish them. At the same time, the seed of the gospel in your heart will be dispersed far and wide. Soon, your branches will be pruned so that you may bear new fruit to the glory of God.

God-tracking is allowing God to shake you up!

GOD-TRACKING IS PATIENTLY WAITING FOR THE FRUIT OF GOD’S PERFECT WILL

“Don’t despair when God seems to take his time to work out his perfect will for your life. Whatever your age, continue to progress through the good and the acceptable to God’s perfect.”

Hebrews 6:12
…imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

David was a young shepherd boy. All his brothers were much older and physically bigger than he was. If you’ll pardon the pun, David may have been the black sheep of the family. He was shoved out into the fields to look after his father, Jesse’s sheep at a very tender age. When the prophet Samuel was prompted by God to anoint a new king for Israel he visited Jesse and interviewed all his sons for the job. But God reminded Samuel that he does not look at outward appearances, but at the heart. God prevented Samuel from anointing any of Jesse’s strapping sons as king.

“Are all your sons here?” Samuel asked Jesse.

“There remains yet the youngest but, he is keeping the sheep,” answered Jesse. The boy was promptly called for. God said to Samuel, “Anoint him, for this is the one.”

David was perhaps 15 when he was anointed king of Israel. Unfortunately, Saul was still on the throne and would not abdicate. David waited 15 years before he was made king, at the death of Saul. It was another several years before his kingdom grew and he reached the prime of his reign. Yet, all along, David kept his heart right before God and waited patiently in faith for God’s perfect will to develop.

In Romans 12 we are called to renew our minds that we may test the will of God; his good and acceptable and perfect will. In Mark 4 Jesus tells a parable. Likening the kingdom of God to a man who sows seed, he said, “The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.” By these references we notice there are stages in the development of God’s will: first good then acceptable and then perfect, like a seed of grain producing the blade then the ear then the crop.

The Lord is doing a great work in your life, dear God-tracker. Continue to seek his will – his perfect will. In the process, he may take you through various stages in the development of the crop your life will produce. This process may take years, but God’s timing is not our timing; his thoughts are not our thoughts. But God’s thoughts will always produce his perfect will for our lives, for God’s word always produces God’s purposes.

So, continue to seek his face and acknowledge him in all your ways. Don’t despair when God seems to take his time to work out his perfect will for your life. Whatever your age, continue to progress through the good and the acceptable to attain God’s perfect. Like king David, have faith and patience and you will soon inherit the promises of God.

God-tracking is patiently waiting for the fruit of God’s perfect will.

DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

Your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven

“Dear Father, today I want to pray as Jesus taught me to pray: your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven. Help me to be patient, dear Lord, while I wait in faith for your perfect will to work out in my life. Help me to be productive and faithful through the good and the acceptable, as I seek the perfect. And when the perfect comes, Lord, help me to walk in faith and serve faithfully and produce a good crop, until the next season of my life. Your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven. Amen.”

I have a pear tree in my back yard that produces the most succulent large pear. Early spring, it bursts in to vibrant blossom. Leaves then appear and soon I notice small green fruit beginning to form. I wait and watch with anticipation for the tiny pears to grow and grow until finally, they become ripe and ready to be plucked. However, I prefer to wait further until the fruit to falls from the tree, in fear of picking it before it’s fully ripe. Yet, I never know the exact moment each pear will fall. Each fruit becomes ready in season but only falls to the ground when its time has come.

Approximately 2017 years ago a young Nazarene girl called, Mary fell pregnant outside of wedlock. The Holy Spirit had come upon her and she had miraculously conceived a baby boy. By God’s grace, Joseph, her betrothed, remained by her side. For almost nine months she and Joseph watched and waited for the birth of the son they were to call, Jesus. But then the unexpected happened, Caesar Augustus called for a censes to be taken of the Roman Empire. Everyone needed to return to his town of origin to be registered. Joseph, a descendent of king David, was born in Bethlehem so he and his very pregnant wife embarked on the long journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. By the time they arrived, her time had come. Neither parent knew the moment of birth; neither could precisely plan for it, only God knew the exact moment Jesus would be born. Yet, God timed it perfectly so that Jesus would be born in the town of Bethlehem as foretold by the prophet Micah. The season was right but only God knew when Jesus’ time had come.

Just as God the Father orchestrated the circumstances that brought Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem at the right season for the birth of Messiah, so God will arrange the circumstances of your seasons for the birth of his designs in your life. Just as I choose to watch and wait for the fruit to fall from my pear tree rather than plucking it before it’s ripe, be encouraged to watch and wait for God’s purposes to come to fruition in his time, rather than jumping the gun to pick the fruit before it’s ripe. God’s plan for you will mature in season but will only fall to the ground when its time has come.

GOD-TRACKING RESULTS IN GOOD PRODUCE FROM PRUNED BRANCHES

Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING RESULTS IN GOOD PRODUCE FROM PRUNED BRANCHES

John 15:16
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name

On more than one occasion Jesus used a vineyard or workers of a vineyard as the subjects of his parables. Growing up in Israel, he would have understood well the finer principles associated with nurturing the vine to produce the best and most succulent grapes. Jesus knew how important it was to annually cut back a vine so that it will both grow well and produce better fruit.

Jesus said, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” Then later he said, “I am the vine; you are the branches.” By this analogy Jesus is referring to vineyard husbandry, which includes pruning back the plants each year so that their growing energies will go into producing better fruit. Just as a vineyard keeper would prune the vines in this way, so the Father cuts away the dead wood or malformed branches from the true Vine so it will produce a better crop.

You may feel as though you’re being pruned right now. There may be circumstances or situations in your life that have died off or become malformed through the course of time. These could include a bad habit, a wrong relationship or a wrong involvement. God could be pruning your vine today, removing apathy, indifference or pessimism. Whatever it is that you feel is being cut off, you can be sure that you will not be left naked or abandoned in any way. Jesus said that God cuts off the branches that bear no fruit so those that do, will produce even more fruit. Be encouraged, dear God-tracker, God is removing from you those things that are time-wasters or soul-destroyers. The Lord will never cut back anything that is to your benefit. And believe me when I tell you, unless God cuts out the dead wood from your life, you will never be fully productive. God desires for you to produce good results in your studies, your career, your home life and your church life. Your Father is pruning you so that you will produce good fruit in your relationships, your work and your commitments. So, embrace the pruning of the vineyard Keeper so that your harvest may be plentiful!

God-tracking results in good produce from pruned branches

Every blessing

Don’t Give Up, Look Up!

Bless all my efforts to serve you and cause me to produce good fruit for your kingdom

Pray
“Dear Father I know there are many areas of my life that need to be pruned back. I submit them to you today. I repent of those things that are grievous to your Spirit and seek to live a productive life according to your purposes for me. Lord, I open myself to your pruning. I ask that as you cut away the dead and malformed branches so that I will produce better product in my life. Bless my output. Bless all my efforts to serve you and cause me to produce good fruit for your kingdom; fruit that will be a blessing to those around me and, ultimately, a blessing to me, too. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
