“There is healing, there is forgiveness, there is deliverance and there is safety in the name of Jesus. On the day you call, he will answer you and your strength of soul will increase.”

On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased.

I once interviewed a lady for my radio show, The Reality, who was severely abused as a child. We’ll call her Jas. Jas was not a Christian, she was of a polytheistic faith and believed in many gods. She escaped her childhood home by running away. Sadly, however, she then became involved with men who were equally abusive to her.

One day, after a major argument, her partner attacked her beating her with his fists until she fell to the ground. He proceeded to hold her down and kneel on her neck until she could no longer breathe. In her frensy, Jas called out to all the gods she knew of, to no effect. Then, remembering the God of the Christians. In her mind, Jas called on the name of Jesus Christ. Instantly the man fell back and released his grip on her.

In the Psalms, we read, “For he delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper.” In Acts and Romans, we read that anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Certainly, these scriptures refer to calling on the name of Jesus for salvation from sin and death. We have the promise of eternal life if we call on Christ and surrender our lives to him. However, I believe that we can take that word literally in everyday life, too, calling on the name of Jesus for salvation in the here and now.

Like Jas, if you find yourself in an adverse situation today, physically, emotionally or spiritually, call on the name of Jesus. His name is above every name. At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow. There is healing in the name of Jesus. There is forgiveness in the name of Jesus. There is deliverance and there is safety in the name of Jesus. On the day you call, he will surely answer you and your strength of soul will increase.

“I call on the name of Jesus Christ now! Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus to redeem me from sin and set me free from its contamination in my life. SECURE IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST

“So, even if the battle continues to rage beyond your walls, be strong in the Lord and the strength of his might for the name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it, and they are saved.”

Proverbs 18:10
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower,
The righteous run into it,
And they are saved.”

I listened fondly to the old chorus sung by a good friend on Facebook Live. Dating myself slightly, this song takes me back to the days of my church youth. We loved bouncing up and down while we sang it with hand actions to the chorus.

Traditionally, a strong tower is a fortified tower usually built within the walls of a castle. The king would retreat to this tower, within the bounds of the castle, when the castle came under siege from his enemy. Here he would be safe. However, simply because the king was safe in his tower it did not mean the battle was over. For all intents and purposes, the battle raged on outside the bounds of his tower. The castle was still under siege and even if the castle wall were breached the king would be safe.

God’s word to you today is, the name of your Lord is your fortified tower, secure and impenetrable. When you come under siege from your enemy, Satan, retreat to your strong tower and wrap yourself securely in the name of Jesus. That is, when troubles come in the form of heartache, illness, depression or financial crisis, call on the name of Jesus Christ. You can rest securely in his name while his hosts fight your battle. The battle may continue to rage outside your camp – sickness and difficulty may persist – but you will be secure in the name of Jesus, your strong tower.

Your Warrior is your mighty champion. Nothing will separate you from his love. If he is for you, who can be against you? No weapon formed against you will prevail. In Christ, you are more than a conqueror because he defeated Satan at Calvary. His name is your fortified stronghold. At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. So, even if the battle continues to rage beyond your walls, be strong in the Lord and the strength of his might for the name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it, and they are saved.

I believe that Satan has no weapon greater than the name of Jesus

“Dear God, I run into my strong tower today! I call on the name of Jesus Christ! Lord, hear my prayers and meet my needs. Though the battle I’m in seems to prevail, I rest secure in your name, Jesus. Your name is my strong tower. When my life comes under siege I run into your name and I know I am safe, even as the siege continues. Jesus, you are my mighty champion, you are my Victor. I believe that Satan has no weapon greater than the name of Jesus. At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow! Therefore, I declare the name of Jesus Christ over every circumstance of my life. Amen.”

IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS

“If you know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and have committed your life to him then you are in Christ. What an auspicious position of vantage. Therefore, may we set out hearts on things above. All we are and all we do is all about Jesus!”

Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

“It’s all about Jesus.” I sensed the words of the Holy Spirit burn in my heart as I gazed out the window while in prayer. I’d sat down on the floor in my room next to the window, as I usually do when I have my time of devotions in the morning. I was praying about my work. I currently have several irons in the fire and often become so consumed with my work that I forget why I do what I do.

One of my favourite chapters in the Bible is Colossians chapter 3. The chapter begins with the words, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God,” (NIV). Further on we read that whatever we do in life as Christian believers, we are to do in the name of Jesus. That is, every aspect of our life and work (whatever that work might be) needs to be done with one focus: Christ.

The words “in Christ” appear 97 times in the English Standard Version of the Bible. You are a new creation in Christ. You have all your needs met in Christ. You enjoy every spiritual blessing in Christ. And you are raised up and seated in heavenly places in Christ. If you know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and have committed your life to him then you are in Christ. What an auspicious position of vantage. Therefore, may we set out hearts on things above. All we are and all we do is all about Jesus!

Dear God, my life is all about Jesus

“Dear God, thank you so much that, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, I have been reconciled to you. I confess Jesus as my Lord and God and believe in my heart that he died and rose again. Therefore, I believe I am found in Christ. My life is hid in Christ. You meet all my needs in Christ. You lead me on the track of your will, in Christ. So, I set my mind on things above and commit my work and life to serving Jesus. Dear God, my life is all about Jesus. Amen.”
