“If you know Christ as Lord then you have a responsibility to spread this Good News to those around you so that they too may have the chance to be infected with faith. Faith is contagious but we need to open our mouths before it will spread.”

Acts 5:42
Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.

Covid-19 has probably been the most universally transmitted viral infection the world has eve
r known. As the original strain has modified with every mutation, it has become increasingly contagious. We pray for those who have suffered the ills of this pandemic. We pray for healing, sustenance and restoration.

As drastic as this pandemic has been it has got me thinking about the gospel. The Scripture tells us that the word of God propagates faith. That is, faith becomes contagious if God’s word is spread. Faith is a very contagious commodity that, once contracted, will change a person’s life for the good, for good. The message of Christ is the Good News that Jesus took the consequences of sin upon himself when he died in our place on the cross. The grace of God is shown by Jesus’ death and resurrection and we are saved by grace through faith. Faith is contagious but, unlike Covid-19, contacting faith results in life not death! And this message is spread through the lips of those who have already been infected with faith.

Jesus commissioned us to be his witnesses throughout the world. If you know Christ as Lord then you have already moved from condemnation to mercy, from legal bondage to grace and from a death sentence to abundant life. If you know Christ as Lord then you are contaminated with faith, a faith that comes by the Good News. If you know Christ as Lord then you have a responsibility to spread this Good News to those around you so that they too may have the chance to be infected with faith. Faith is contagious but we need to open our mouths before it will spread.

God-tracking is spreading the Good News

DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

Take me as I am. Today I choose to build my life on your words.

“O my Lord, thank you that the Good News of the message of Christ has developed faith in me. That Good News is the news that Jesus died and rose again to set me free from sin, Satan and death. Your word has commissioned me to spread this Good News at every chance I have. Help me to share my faith as much as I can. Help me to not cover my lips with my hand but share your word boldly. Help me to always be ready to spread the Gospel so that those around me will contract faith by my words. Amen.”

GOD-TRACKING IS REMAINING UNDER THE SHADOW OF HIS WINGS, UNDER THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB OF GOD

“Psalm 91 says that under his wings we will find shelter. That is, upon the Mercy Seat of God’s throne, overshadowed by his wings and sprinkled with the blood of the Lamb of God we have redemption and refuge.”

godtracker.co.uk
Thousands of years back, God’s people were in lockdown. God had raised up Moses to deliver his children from slavery under the Egyptians. In the process, God inflicted 10 plagues on the Egyptians to force Pharaoh to release the Israelites from slavery. The last plague was the plague of death. On the night before they were to leave Egypt, God commanded Moses to bring the Israelites indoors for 24 hours while the plague persisted. They were to slaughter a spotless lamb and spread its blood on the doorframes of their homes as a guard against the plague. While the whole household remained locked down under the blood of the lamb, they were safe.

One of the most prolific scriptures quoted at this time of lockdown under the coronavirus has been Psalm 91. In the Psalm, we read that whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. He will cover his beloved with his feathers and under his wings will he find refuge. A lovely illustration of this is seen when a mother bird broods over her young in her nest as they shelter under her wings. However, I would like to take the analogy a step further.

In the holy of holies of the Tabernacle of God, we find the ark of the covenant. The ark consisted of a gold-clad wooden box containing several holy artefacts. The lid of the ark was called the Mercy Seat. Once a year on Yom Kippur the High Priest would enter the holy of holies and sprinkle the blood of a spotless lamb upon the Mercy Seat for the remission of sins. Overshadowing the Mercy Seat were statues of two great cherubim, representing the throne of God (as seen in Revelation). God is said to be enthroned between the cherubim. Their wings were stretched out over the Mercy Seat, covered in the blood of a lamb.

Jesus, the Lamb of God, suffered and died on a cross, pouring out his lifeblood for your sins and mine. This act redeemed us from the curse of sin, which is death. His blood was sprinkled, once for all, upon the true Mercy seat of God – his heavenly throne. Psalm 91 says that under his wings we will find shelter. That is, upon the Mercy Seat of God’s throne, overshadowed by his wings and sprinkled with the blood of the Lamb of God we have redemption and refuge.

You are my shelter! You are my refuge! You are my redemption!

“Dear Lord, thank you for Jesus. Thank you that he shed his blood, which is sprinkled upon your eternal Mercy Seat, to both redeem me from sin and rescue me from all calamity. Under your wings I find refuge. Under your wings, I am sheltered from evil and harm. Dear God, I declare today that I will remain locked down under the shadow of your wings and upon your Mercy Seat covered in the Blood of Jesus. You are my shelter! You are my refuge! You are my redemption! Amen..

GOD-TRACKING IS COMING OUT OF LOCKDOWN TO SIN, BY THE BLOOD OF THE PASSOVER LAMB

“You and I are locked down under sin and will die from its effect. Only by confession and repentance of sin and pleading the blood of the Passover Lamb of God will we be freed from its bondage and enjoy abundant life.”

More than 3,400 years ago Moses issued a decree to his people. They had been subject to slavery under the Egyptians for about 400 years when God raised up Moses to lead his people to freedom. Under his leadership, God had inflicted 9 plagues on the Egyptians to force Pharaoh to free the Israelites from slavery. The 10th plague was a plague of the death of the firstborn male of every family in Egypt. But God planned to preserve his people and commanded Moses to have each family kill a spotless lamb and place its blood on the wooden doorframes of their homes as a guard against this final plague. Having done this, the angel of death then passed over the Israelite homes and their firstborn were safe. Moses’ decree was a lockdown of all the Israelite homes until the danger had passed. If any had left the covering of the blood of the lamb, they would die from the plague. This final plague persuaded Pharaoh to free the Israelites from slavery. God’s people were saved from death and freed from slavery by the blood of a lamb.

About 1,450 years later Jesus hung on a wooden cross, his blood staining its grain crimson. He hung there alone – locked down and separated from all who loved him. God’s one and only firstborn became the Passover Lamb whose blood was smeared on a wooden cross. Jesus suffered the 10th plague of death once for all. For all have sinned and come short of the fellowship of God, the consequence of which is death.

We were all under slavery to sin, locked down by corrupt desire. But God demonstrated his love to the world in this, while we were still sinners (enslaved to sin) Jesus died for us. On confessing Christ as Lord and believing that he died and rose again, we are set free from the lockdown of sin and come into fellowship once again with the Father of Creation.

Under the COVID-19 pandemic, communities and nations were locked down. People were separated from loved ones for fear of spreading the virus. Under the pandemic of sin (of which we will all die) we were all locked down – separated from the glory of God. But due to the lockdown of Jesus upon the cross, we have been healed of sin and freed from its slavery. Just as the shedding of blood by the Passover lamb both saved the Israelites from death and freed them from slavery, so the shedding of Blood by the Lamb of God – Jesus the Christ – has saved us from eternal death and freed us from the captivity of sin.

Are you under the Blood of the Lamb? Have you placed his blood, so to speak, on the doorframe of your heart? You and I are locked down under sin and will die from its effect. Only by confession and repentance of sin and pleading the blood of the Passover Lamb of God will we be freed from its bondage and enjoy abundant life.

I accept your act on the cross as a sacrifice to free me from the lockdown of sin

“Heavenly Father, thank you for the blood of Jesus that has become the Passover Blood that saved us from the results of sin, which is death. Thank you, dear Jesus, that you willingly subjected yourself to the lockdown of the cross so that we, if we believe in your death and resurrection, can be saved from death and freed from the slavery of sin. I humbly confess my sin and repent of it in Jesus’ name. I accept your act on the cross as a sacrifice to free me from the lockdown of sin. Come into my life, O Lord as I surrender my life to you. Amen.”

“Together we stand and praise the King of Kings who reigns supreme. Hallowed be his name and his will be done on earth as it is done in heaven.”

Books by Dudley Anderson
Whatever you hear about this coronavirus pandemic, please don't allow it to attack your mental or spiritual wellbeing. Stay strong. We will get through this with God's help.

I've been meditating on Psalm 103 (read it). The Lord our God, El Shaddai, is the Creator. He is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent and eternal. Our God is enthroned in the highest and Christ, our Lord and Saviour, is enthroned at his right hand, crowned King of Kings. The name of Jesus is higher than any name. The Scripture tells us that at his name every knee will bow. I will bless the Lord with all that is within me. No matter what calamity I go through Jesus is still on the throne.

Christian, if you acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Saviour then God has made you alive together with Christ and raised you up with him and seated you with him in heavenly places. You are in Christ Jesus. If Jesus is King of Kings and you are seated with him then – in Christ – you are enthroned above all power, dominion, illnesses and pandemics. You are under his crown. Psalm 103 tells us that the Lord has crowned you with steadfast love and mercy.

Covid-19 is a coronavirus. That is, it is a virus surrounded by small protein extensions that resemble the corona of the sun. It is these extensions that react with our cells and cause the virus to infect us. The word corona comes from the Latin word meaning crown. Covid-19 is a virus with a crown and its dominion is destruction. And we know who the Destroyer is (Satan). So, let us withdraw from under the monarchy of the Destroyer and decrown the "crownvirus" for we are seated under the authority of the King of Kings. The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.

Psalm 103 calls us to praise the Lord our God:

“Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
    bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
    who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
    who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy;
who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.”

Together we stand and praise the King of Kings who reigns supreme. Hallowed be his name and his will be done on earth as it is done in heaven.

I praise you because you are in control of the affairs of man

“O most holy God, King of Kings and Lord of all, I submit to your rule in my life. Dear Lord, I acknowledge you in all my ways and, even in crisis, I trust you to direct my life’s track. I pray for healing for those who have contracted Covid-19 and I pray for protection for those who do not have it. I praise you because you are in control of the affairs of man. I praise you for peace, hope and sensibility during this worldwide calamity. I praise you because you are still on the throne and I am seated in Christ. Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me will continue to bless the Lord. Amen.”
