Jeremiah 23:29
Is not my word like fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

“I just would not let go,” said a husband whose wife had fallen into adultery. I was watching a video of a young man called, Mike who was sharing the story of how his wife, Sharon had become involved with a work colleague. Mike and Sharon were both committed Christians. Mike was an elder in their church and his wife sang in the worship team. I was filled with compassion and admiration as he went on to explain how the affair had endured 6 months before, realising her folly, Sharon ended the affair. She repented before God and her husband. Broken and distraught, Mike went before the Lord. He loved his wife and was not prepared to give up the fight. Yet, he was filled with intense anger. The marriage was in shreds.

Reading the words of Jesus, Mike discovered that divorce was not God’s plan. God planned for a man and a woman to leave their parents and be united in flesh and heart. But Jesus said, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives.” Mike paused at these words. Was he hardening his heart? He had never stopped loving Sharon. Only disappointment and pride would prompt him to leave his repentant wife. Though she had committed sexual immorality, she had confessed and repented of her sin. “I could not let her go. I would not give up!” he said. “So, I chose to soften my heart and repent of my own sin of pride. I forgave Sharon and together we turned our eyes to Jesus. We sought his love for one another and firmly recommitted our marriage to the Lord. By his grace our marriage survived and is stronger now than it’s ever been. I love my wife more than anything in this world.”

A hardened heart is the hardest substance known to man. Only God’s Word can penetrate that wall; only the hammer of the Word of God can soften a hardened heart. Get into God’s Word and get God’s Word into you.

God-tracking is holding on with a softened heart.

READ ALL ABOUT IT
Matthew 19:3-9Hebrews 12:1-2

DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

I choose to repent of my pride and soften my heart. I fix my eyes on Jesus.

“Father, I’m sorry for hardening my heart. I realise that a hardened heat causes great discord and disaster. Because of hardened hearts wars have been fought and lives have been lost. Dear Lord, I commit my marriage to you, afresh. Forgive me for my part in all the conflict. I choose to love my wife/husband despite the hurts and disappointments. I choose to repent of my pride and soften my heart. I fix my eyes on Jesus and acknowledge you in every aspect of my relationship. For your glory, Lord. Amen.”

Dear God Tracker

To Stop Doing What You are Called to Do, Because You Feel Unworthy is to Insult God’s Grace

I was once in the middle of leading worship in my church when God taught me a very valuable lesson on grace. I was not in a good place in my life at the time. Although I was studying for the ministry and active in church, I was going through a period of rebelliousness. I was very critical of other Christians and was looking for loop-holes in the Bible to qualify my unfounded desires. At one particular point in the worship the congregation seemed to move into higher level of the experience of God. I was dumbfounded. “How can this be, Lord?” I said in my head as I sang. “These people are in deep worship and yet I - their worship leader - am in a bad place. I feel so unworthy.” In an instant I sensed God’s answer, “Yes you are unworthy.”
“There you go,” I said indignantly in my heart, “I’m going to quit this and hang up my guitar!” Again the instant though occurred to me by the voice of the Holy Spirit, “You are unworthy to lead these people in worship… but I’m not!” A hard lesson in the truth of grace.

In this experience, I discovered that no matter how “bad” I was feeling, if God has called me to do a job for him then it’s him in me doing it; not me! This is why Paul says that Jesus once told him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." You see, grace is God at work, not you. Grace is God’s doing the job in and through you. The grace of God is twofold: it saves us from sin through the cross of Jesus and it empowers us to do good works through Christ in us, the hope of glory. Therefore, to stop doing what you are called to do because you feel unworthy is to insult God’s grace.

God-tracking is just doing it, by God’s grace.

Blessings

Dudley

Verse of the Week

John 1:16
From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.

A Sample of Dudley’s Fave Quotes.

“We are absolutely nothing.  We have nothing to be proud of.  We have no abilities and nothing to offer God.  The fact that he chooses to use is only due to his grace.  It has nothing to do with us.” -- Brother Yun

I Will Do the Good Works You Created Me to Do

Ephesians 2:10
For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Pray
“Lord, I don’t have what it takes to be successful in my life’s calling. In fact, I’m probably not worthy of this job you have given me to do. However, I realise now that, as a believer in your power and grace, for me to refuse to carry on would be to insult the grace you have given me to do the job. I believe that it’s not me doing it, it’s you in me doing it. Please forgive me for my pride and insolence. I hand my activities, my relationships and my work over to you. Lord. I feel weak in my own abilities but I believe that this is a good thing, because when I am weak in me I am strong in you. Because I am your workmanship, by your grace, I will do the good works you created me to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Dear God Tracker

The Cause of Acknowledging God Has the Effect of Discovering His Plans for My Life

Causality is a term that describes the relationship between an event and its consequence, or second event. In other words it’s the results of an action, decision or confession. For example, the causality of eating too many sweets as a child is bad teeth as an adult. Some philosophies and religions use causality to describe karma or fate. But as a Christian, my causality does not depend on fate but upon faith resulting in the plans and purposes of God in my life.

The word of God tells us to acknowledge the Lord in all we do. This means that we should recognise our Father’s hand upon everything in our lives from career choice and relationships to my daily to-do list. We acknowledge God through prayer and confession. That is, when we commit every second of every day and every iota of every decision to him in prayer and then go about telling others that we have done so. When we acknowledge the Lord in all our ways we recognise his knowledge of who we are and submit our plans to his foreknowledge of our lives. The result of doing this is God will direct our paths (check out Proverbs 3:6). And after acknowledging the Lord in all we do we walk in faith – not fate – in his purposes without leaning on our own understanding. The cause of acknowledging God has the effect of discovering his plans for my life.

God-tracking is walking by God’s cause and effect.

Every blessing

Dudley

It Is You Who Determines My Steps

Proverbs 16:9
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.

Pray
“Dear Father, I’m sorry for making my plans without recognising your hand in my life. I choose now to acknowledge you in each and every area of my life – my relationships, my career, my church life, my hobbies, my TV watching, the books I read and even in my daily to-do lists. I give you every plan I have for the future. I pray that you will direct the course of my life, day by day. I employ a Godly causality by giving you the causes in my life and trusting you to produce your effects upon me and my loved ones. I know I can trust your foreknowledge and therefore, lean not on my understanding but walk in faith that you will direct every outcome of every decision I make. Lord, I confess that it is you who determines my steps. Amen.”
