GOD-TRACKING IS RETURNING TO THE SOUND OF HIS WORD

GodTracker 682
The e-devotional helping to keep you on-track with God’s plans for your life

Whatever your plight today, climb out of your mire into the shower of his peace, by calling on the name of your Lord.”

Jeremiah 1:12
Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”

“My life was in tatters,” said the woman in the video I was watching. “My husband had left me, and my little girl was in foster care. Drugs and alcohol had wrecked my life and my body.” Helen had grown up in a Christian home and had acknowledged Jesus as Lord in her early teens, but the lure of the world had proved too strong for her. Now destitute and homeless, Helen sat poised to end it all. In final desperation she cried, “God, I give up! Take me!”

Helen’s story is like that of so many who have lost their way after finding the path to faith, hope and love. She’d allowed the flesh to creep in, succumbing to the trap of temptation. Gradually and steadily the devil and his delusions had destroyed a life that had been consecrated to Christ. Helen had lost her way. However, God’s pure Word had found root in her heart and, as always, God was watching over his Word to perform it. The only thing that can obstruct the effect of God’s Word is the self-will of ego. And Helen had allowed her ego to entice her into the mire in which she now sat in.

Instantly a strange and unexplained peace showered Helen’s heart. In her desperation she’d completely surrendered her will to God. Memories of youth began to surface and, over time, God restored her soul. It was a long haul, drudging through circumstances and consequences of bad life choices, but with her eyes on her Saviour, Helen came through.

Scripture says, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.” Scripture says, “Acknowledge God in all your ways and he will direct your path.” Scripture says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will grant you the desires of your heart.” God’s name is a strong tower. Run back into it today be safe. Whatever your plight climb out of your mire and into the shower of his peace, by calling on the name of your Lord.

God-tracking is returning to the sound of his Word.

DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

Lord, I open my heart to your Word again

“Dear Lord, I deeply apologise and repent of taking my eyes off you. Forgive me Lord for falling to temptation and ignoring your Word in my heart. Today I call on the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour; I run back into that name! Lord, I open my heart to your Word again. May it rise up within me again and lead me in paths of righteousness. God, I give up! Take me as I am. Amen.”

Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS DOING LIFE GOD’S WAY

2 Corinthians 13:14
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Sally was sitting flat on the filthy pavement, her back against the shop window. People streamed passed her on the busy city sidewalk, oblivious to her plight. No one noticed her smudged mascara or the dried tear stains on her cheeks. Sally had nowhere to go; rejected by her lover, thrown out of her apartment, now homeless, penniless and alone. Only 3 months prior Sally was safe and secure in a caring home with her husband and 2 children. Sadly, she’d been led astray by an urge to seek for that elusive, “there’s gotta be more to life than this”. Dissatisfied with what she had, she’d left her husband a note, drew their life savings and set off on an adventure to explore the world. Now it was all gone. She sat there alone, longing to fill her stomach with at least the scraps from her dear husband’s plate. “O Lord, I have failed you,” she said between sobs, “I am deeply sorry.”

Sally knew Jesus. She had committed her heart to him in Sunday School as a child. She and her husband had attended a wonderful family friendly church, back home. However, she had become dissatisfied with that same-old routine, day after day and week after week. Discontentment has a way of clouding our judgement. Sally had abandoned her security, her family and even her faith to fulfil a craving for the alternative life. She thought she could make it rich. How she had discovered that she could not do life on her own or in her own way. There is nothing more to live for but to humbly repent and seek God’s will again. Sally dragged herself up to her feet. “Perhaps if I can just get to the train station, God will help me find my way home.”

So many of us think we can make it on our own. Perhaps not as severe as this little story today, but we all, one way or another, often abandon all reason – and God’s will – trying to do life our way. This is folly. There is no way I can do my life any other way, with any meaningful purpose, than to do it God’s way. The scriptures tell us to acknowledge God in all our ways and he will make our paths straight. Scripture tells us to humble ourselves before the Lord and he will lift us up. God knows your past from your future and he knows how to fit everything else in, in-between. If you’ve acknowledged him as Lord, then he is the author of your life.

Help me to return to the place where I left this track, so that I can continue to live content within your will

Pray
“Dear Lord, I’m at my wits end. Please forgive me for taking my eyes off you and seeking to do life my own way. I’ve made a mess of it. I realise now that the only way to do things is to do them your way. Forgive me for stepping out of your will. I make a U-turn now and reaffirm that you are my Lord and my guide. I acknowledge you in all my ways again and trust you to direct my life’s paths. I seek first your will – your kingdom and your righteousness – and trust that everything else in life will fall into place. Help me to return to the place where I left this track, so that I can continue to live content within your will. Amen."

Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS NOT GIVING UP IN THE FACE OF STRUGGLE, BUT LOOKING UP INTO THE FACE OF JESUS

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

“I’m just not coping,” said Bev on the phone to her best friend, Maria. “It seems as though everything is going wrong. Jeff works late almost every night, the kids have colds again and I can’t cope with the housework anymore. We just don’t have enough money coming in.” On she went, describing her woes and stresses. “I think God has abandoned me. He doesn’t answer my prayers. I’m at the end of my tether,” she said. Maria sighed. “Ah Bev, don’t give up. You’ve got to just trust God, like Job did in the Bible – and your problems are nothing like he had. When things went pear-shaped in Job’s life he never once complained that God had abandoned him.”

It’s true. We read in the book of Job about how God allowed calamity to come upon Job to test his faithfulness and integrity. Satan was allowed to strip Job of all he held dear – his wealth, his family and even his health. But, despite Job’s friend’s defeatist advice, Job refused to blame God. He did complain, indeed! But he never lost his faith in God’s purposes. Toward the end of the story we read of how Job says, “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” In the final few verses of the story we read of how God not only restored Job to beyond his former glory but that Job live another 140 years before he died. Wow!

Can you relate to how Bev felt, like your world is falling apart? If so, then I encourage you to takes Job’s example and not blame God. Don’t give up! Look up! Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author of your faith. He endured his trial by fixing his gaze beyond the cross where he saw himself seated at God’s right hand in glory. Don’t give up! Look up! Look up to the hills. Where does you help come from? It comes from the maker of heaven and earth! Don’t give up! Look up! Lift up your head that the King of glory may come into your circumstances. He is the Lord of glory, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle. God has a plan for you and he does everything on purpose, in your life. Just be sure you continue to acknowledge him in all your ways. He will get you though.

God-tracking is not giving up in the face of struggle but looking up into the face of Jesus.

Every blessing

Dudley

Don’t Give Up, Look Up!

I will not give up. Rather I choose to look up into your face in the hope that you will bring me through this and take me to greater heights after it is done.

Pray
“Heavenly Lord, it seems as though everything is going wrong in my life at the moment. I’m sorry if I have blamed you for my difficulties. I know all things are under your control and that you often allow things to go wrong, to try my integrity. So, even in these tough times, I will not give up. Rather I choose to look up into your face in the hope that you will bring me through this trial and take me on to greater heights after it is done. Thank you for your plans and purposes in my life. I will continue to acknowledge you in all my ways, even when things seemingly go wrong. Amen.”
