LIVING BY HIS BLUEPRINT

“God has a great plan for your life. To follow God’s plan, you need to follow his blueprint. Jesus is God’s blueprint for your life.”

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Jesus is the blueprint of God for your life. The Bible says that we have all sinned and corrupted God’s perfect righteous image in which we were created. Even though God sent us the Law of Moses, it was rendered powerless in that it was weakened by our sinful nature. Therefore, he sent Jesus to reconcile us to himself. Because Jesus is God – God incarnate – he was and is sinless. Even so, God planned to allow Jesus to take the curse of sin when he died for us on the cross. You see, God ascribed your sin to Jesus so that, by repentance and faith, you could be ascribed God’s righteousness. In Christ, you become the righteousness of God. Jesus in you is God’s original blueprint for your life.

Many people think that they need to work really hard to earn God’s favour. This is impossible because all have sinned and fallen short of God’s goodness. God is so holy and righteous that we would need to become as he is to be right with him. But Jesus is already as God is because Jesus is God as a man. Therefore, to be right with God you and I need to intentionally turn from sin and live by faith in Christ. The moment we truly repent of sin we admit our failings and die to the old sinful nature; we are crucified with Christ. Then the moment you exercise faith in Christ you put confidence in God’s blueprint and live by his ascribed righteousness and purpose.

God has a great plan for your life. He loves you and desires for you to walk according to the plan he knows he has for you. To follow God’s plan, you need to follow his blueprint. Jesus is God’s blueprint for your life.

God-tracking is scrapping the old plan to live by God’s blueprint.

I choose to die to the old life and live this life in the flesh by faith in your Blueprint for me

I turn away from all wrongdoing in my life and humbly acknowledge Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. CONFIDENTLY DOING IT BY GRACE

“Therefore, whatever I do in life I will do for his glory and in the name of Jesus with confidence in the skills and opportunity he gives. It is not I, but the grace of God that is with me, doing it.”

1 Corinthians 15:10

But by the grace of God, I am what I am, and his grace towards me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.

Grace is God’s doing. By his grace, God did it when he sent his only Son, Jesus Christ to become a sin offering for us when he was crucified at Calvary. By his grace God demonstrated his loving mercy toward us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. The consequence of sin is death, and we have all sinned and come short of God’s goodness. Jesus died. Yet, he was not guilty of sin. Therefore, death had no hold on him and three days after he was killed, Jesus came alive again. If we believe in his death and resurrection and confess his lordship over our lives, we can be forgiven of all sin and be reconciled to the goodness of God.

Not only did God do it for me when he sent Jesus to pay for sin and reconcile me to his goodness but, by the grace of God, I am what I am today. As a follower of Christ submitted to God’s will, nothing I do is of my own doing. All I set my hand to do is his doing in and through me. As I continue to acknowledge the Lord in all my ways, he directs my life’s track by his grace. All my skills are God-abilities and all my opportunities are God-opportunities. So, I no longer have confidence in my self but I have confidence in God’s grace.

Therefore, whatever I do in life I will do for his glory and in the name of Jesus with confidence in the abilities and opportunities he gives. It is not I, but the grace of God that is with me, doing it. Grace is God’s doing.

God-tracking is confidently doing it by grace.

I acknowledge your grace is your doing in me

“Dear Lord, firstly, I wish to reaffirm that I believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus and confess him as Lord of my life. Thank you that I am saved by your grace through faith. Secondly, I surrender all my ways to you: my relationships, my work, my church and my recreation. Thank you for your grace at work in and through me. “You have a special place in his heart. He desires to carry you in his arms like a shepherd carries his lambs. Indeed, nothing in all creation will be able to separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus your Lord.”

Isaiah 40:11
He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.

There is an old praise song by Joseph Garlington that we used to sing with gusto. It went something like
this:

My life is in you Lord,

My strength is in You, Lord,

My hope is in You, Lord

I must have sung this song thousands of times. But what a confession it is! Indeed, my life is seated in Jesus and God’s righteousness is imputed into me. Listen, “[…he has] seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,” and, “…in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

Your life is wrapped up in his arms. Your God loves you far more than you’ll ever know. By grace, he sent his only Son to become a sin offering for you so that, in him, you may be reconciled to his goodness. Because of his love for you, nothing will ever separate you from him. He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for you will, with him, graciously give you all things. You have a special place in his heart. He desires to meet all your needs and carry you in his arms like a shepherd carries his lambs. Indeed, nothing in all creation will be able to separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus your Lord.

So, sing with me… “My life is in you Lord, my strength is in you, Lord. All my hope is in You!”

God-tracking is being sure your whole life is wrapped up in him

HE WILL BRING YOU THROUGH

“Your Lord knows the difficulties you face today and he is in the thicket with you. Do not lose heart, he will bring you through it all.”

Isaiah 54:10
For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,”

Oswald Chambers said, “We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties.” It’s guaranteed, difficulties will come in life. Stormy times will happen, but they will not reduce God’s word to you. Listen: “Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines,

the produce of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places.”

Jesus is our greatest example of endurance under difficulty. All his life on earth, he knew who he was. He knew he was God’s chosen and anointed One, the Messiah. He knew the prophets said that the Messiah would be a servant king, not a great political leader. As the Servant King, Jesus knew he would suffer dejection, rejection and an intensely torturous physical death. Yet we read that in the Garden of Gethsemane when he had the option to walk away from his trouble, he chose to do the will of God and submit to the cross. We read that Jesus looked through the cross, scorned its shame, and saw himself victorious on the other side of his difficulty. He set his mind on things above and trusted the Spirit of God to raise him from the dead.

The word to you today is, in the thick of your difficulties, don’t give up, look up!  Your Lord knows the difficulties you’re facing and he is in the thicket with you. Do not lose heart, he will bring you through it all. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for you an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as you look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. Indeed,
pray with your eyes on God, not on your difficulties.

God-tracking is trusting God to bring you through.

EQUIPPED FOR GREAT ADVENTURE

“If you acknowledge the counsel of Lord in all your ways, he will direct your life’s track. Only then will his eye be upon you. Only with his eye upon you will you be fully equipped for the great adventure that is your life.”

Psalm 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Elizabeth Elliot, the wife of Jim Elliot who was killed in 1956 while attempting to make missionary contact with the Auca people of eastern Ecuador, tells of two adventurers who stopped by to see her. They were loaded with equipment for the rain forest east of the Andes. They sought no advice, just a few phrases to converse with the Indians. Elizabeth writes: "Sometimes we come to God as the two adventurers came to me -- confident and, we think, well-informed and well equipped. But has it occurred to us that with all our accumulation of stuff, something is missing?”

King Saul was the first king of Israel. The man had much potential. He was tall, strong, handsome and came from a good family. Anointed by the prophet Samuel, Saul had all the equipment needed to fulfil the role of king yet he lacked one thing – obedience to the instructions of God. If only he had surrendered his ways to the Lord God and trusted in the counsel of the Almighty.

The adventurers who approached Elizabeth Elliot were zealous and keen to contact the tribes of the Andes. They sought no instruction from the missionary’s wife only further tools to add to their arsenal. Without her advice, they were susceptible to being savagely killed as her husband was. They might have been loaded with equipment but they lacked one item – the counsel of one who knew the way.

If you acknowledge the counsel of the Lord in all your ways, he will direct your life’s track. Only then will his eye be upon you. Only with his eye upon you will you be fully equipped for the great adventure that is your life.

God-tracking is being equipped with the counsel of the Lord

REAPING WITH JOY

“If we selfishly hang onto our resources we will indeed, lose them. What we surrender to God, he multiplies back to us, pressed down, shaken together and running over.”

Psalm 126:5
Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!

Two quotes from my collection of quotes for you today: “I have tried to keep things in my hands and lost them all, but what I have given into God's hands I still possess,” Martin Luther. And “If you give what you do not need, it isn't giving,” Mother Teresa.

My wife and I visited Israel a few years back. Near the end of our time there we visited a farm near the Dead Sea in the Negev desert. Water is a treasured commodity in this part of the world. Our guide said, “This part of Israel is very arid. Every year we sow our crops in the hope of reaping a harvest. If it doesn’t rain, we are fortunate today to have irrigation. In ancient times they had no irrigation. They would sow very valuable seed, which could feed their families for months, into the dry earth. It was hard to throw away good food. So, they would sow in tears and hope to reap with shouts of joy. God was always faithful.”

Sometimes I feel a little like that when I give my well-earned cash toward God’s work or to a needy cause. It’s hard to give away good money when you know you have needs of your own. Yet, as Christian believers, when we give, we give to God. God does not need our money but money is needed for God’s work. I love what Martin Luther said about giving. If we selfishly hang onto our resources we will indeed, lose them. What we surrender to God, he multiplies back to us, pressed down, shaken together and running over.

“If God has put you there, he will come through for you. He will provide all you need for life and living. Our God never, never abandons the work of his hands and you are wrapped securely in his loving arms.”

Deuteronomy 33:27(a)
The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms

A good friend of mine once said, “If God orders a Pizza, he will pay for it.” You smile. I did. Could you imagine the eternal God picking up the phone and calling Dominoes? “One pepperoni with extra olives, please. The address? Er... the pearly Gates, Heaven.” Unless the delivery guy is a sold-out-believer I’m not sure he’d find that address on his satnav. However, the truth of my friend’s statement is, if God has called you to something or opened a door for you in your career, family or church relationship he will deliver the goods. Our God is faithful and his love endures forever.

Wherever you find yourself today, if you have acknowl
edged God and sought his will in all your ways then he has directed your path; you are exactly where he wants you to be. It may seem as though you’re floundering around in the deep end without a lifejacket but the truth is that’s exactly where God wants you to be. Ask any of the disciples what it’s like to be in over their head, or better yet, ask Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. They’ll tell you that it’s when you’ve lost the earth beneath your feet it’s then that you discover, underneath are everlasting arms.

Whatever it is you’re going through right now, know that nothing is too difficult for you as you rest in the arms of Jesus. Never give up on God’s plan for your life. Never take your eyes off Jesus and look down at your circumstances or difficulties. Rather fix your gaze on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith who, for the joy set before him, looked through the cross, scorned its shame and saw himself victorious on the other side. And never think you can’t do what it is he has called you to do. If God has put you there, he will come through for you. He will provide all you need for life and living. Our God never, never abandons the work of his hands and you are wrapped securely in his loving arms. If he has ordered your pizza, believe me, he will pay for it.

God-tracking is never, never giving up.
