This eDevotional, GodTracker, has been in publication since June 2003. It has been my sincere privilege to share some thoughts with you about seeking and tracking the plans and purposes of God. Thank you so much for your prayers and support.

GodTracker has as its central thesis the thought that God knows the plans he has for you; for your welfare and not evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). In order to walk in God’s perfect will, we need to seek and track God’s plans. Hence, God-tracking. We do this by acknowledging God in all our ways and keeping our eyes on Jesus.

GodTracker is part of a larger Christian media ministry called, Sure Reality Media (or SRM). SRM covers the publication of GodTracker as well as the production of three Christian radio segments, two of which are adapted from GodTracker. These include: Sixty-Second GodTracker, God-Tracking with Dudley and The Reality. The Reality is a half-hour talk show where we meet people from all walks of life who have been impacted by the sure reality of knowing Christ. These radio segments are broadcast on-air and online by many radio stations, worldwide. Some of these stations require payment for airtime. With your help – and by God’s grace – we have been able to meet some of these costs. We have been approached by a station in Kathmandu, Nepal called Good News FM who is very keen to air The Reality.

Good News FM runs a powerful 500-Watt FM transmitter that covers 20 districts around the Kathmandu valley and has a potential listenership of more than 2 million people. SRM is very eager to bring The Reality to the people of Kathmandu. However, Good News FM is compelled by their government to charge for airtime on their station. They are asking £200 per month to air The Reality. To this end, we have launched our 20:10 campaign: looking for only 20 people to commit to the equivalent of £10 per month toward the cost of reaching millions of people in a needy community with the good news of the reality of God’s love through Jesus. In a media world thwart with fake news it’s good to know there is still a place to hear the real good news!

Checking my Facebook feed this morning I noticed a quote posted by my wife, Karen. Karen is one of the wisest and most efficient people I know (after all, she keeps me in check). The quote was by C. H. Spurgeon, which said, “If you want to know God you must know his Word. If you wish to perceive his power, you must see his works in his Word. If you wish to know his purpose before it comes to pass, you can only discover it by his Word.” God-tracking is all about seeking and tracking the purposes of God for our lives. It’s clear from what Spurgeon says, therefore, that as a GodTrackers, if we wish to get to know God and his working in our lives, we need to get into his Word and Get his Word into us.

I have been writing GodTracker for 15 years. It’s been my thrill and privilege to write these weekly thoughts, based on God’s Word, to inspire us to seek and track the plans and purposes of God for our lives. Many people subscribe to GodTracker by email, while others read it via blogs and our website, godtracker.co.uk. I am grateful that, over the years, people have occasionally responded to what was written. It is vital for us to receive feedback and comments from our readers to help us better produce these e-devotionals. Therefore, from wherever you’re reading this publication, I am asking you to email me at dudley@godtracker.co.uk and tell me how GodTracker has worked in your life.

Scripture tells us that God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and light to our path. And God’s Word does not stand alone; it is always accompanied by the power of Holy Spirit. God’s Word and Spirit are synonymous. The Word confirms the actions of the Spirit while the Spirit activates the precepts of the Word. God watches over his Word to perform it. So dear GodTracker, I say again, get into God’s Word and Get God’s Word into you.

Thank you too, for the Holy Spirit who makes the written Word come alive in my life. Help me to get to know you by your Word and Spirit. GOD-TRACKING IS A PERSONAL REAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Samantha was sharing with me about how she had had triplets 25 years ago. Sadly, the 2 boys had died. Her daughter had grown into a lovely woman but, at the time, the death of her two sons had weighed heavily on Sam and her marriage, resulting in separation.

When her daughter was 2, Samantha was invited to attend a church near where she lived. “The people were so caring,” she told me. “They loved us and helped me to come to terms with the death of my other children. Pastor Andy was a lovely man.” Samantha continued to tell me how the pastor and the church folk had helped and cared for her and her little girl. However, after benefitting from their support for a couple of years, Samantha became increasingly disinterested and finally stopped attending the church. The years following were a struggle for Samantha. “Sam,” I said, “I’m so happy your church friends helped you through your crisis, but I am sad to notice that you did not seem to find the one true relationship that would take you on to live a full and secure life; a relationship with God.”

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us to God. Sin separated us from a real relationship with the Father but, because of his grace and love, Father God sent his Son, Jesus to bear the consequences of sin and die for us all (the consequence of sin is death). Then through his resurrection from the dead, Jesus opened the way for us to be reconciled to God. After the work of the cross, God poured out his Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “The Helper, the Holy Spirit, the Father will send in my name, will come.” Through the work of Jesus on the cross and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, we can all find meaning in life and a real personal relationship with God.

“God’s love is shown through his people, but only through a daily personal relationship with God can we experience a lifetime of comfort and hope,” I said to Samantha. “People may let you down, but the Lord will never leave you nor forsake you.”

“Dear Jesus, I realise now that I have never actually asked you into my life. I have good relationships with many godly people but have never entered into a personal relationship with you. Lord, come into my life; I give my life to you. Thank you for the cross and thank you for the fellowship of your Spirit. Dear Holy Spirit, I open up every aspect of my life to you. I acknowledge God in all my ways and seek you with all my heart. Thank you for the promise that you will never leave me or forsake me. Amen.”

GOD-TRACKING IS TUNING INTO GOD’S CLEAR SIGNAL

I grew up in the 1970s when computers were great big monsters that filled a room the size of a bus depot. The World Wide Web was a fuzzy construction built by the resident spider in the corner of the room, behind one of the one-ton printers. Online radio was non-existent. The only way one could ever listen to foreign radio was via shortwave. And I loved my shortwave radio receiver. I’d erect high wooden poles to run a wire up to receive a better signal. Little did I know that 20 years later I’d enjoy the privilege of broadcasting on shortwave radio.

Swizz, beep-beep, boing, shhhh would come the sound from the small speaker of my little SW receiver. Turning the knob, I’d listen carefully until I found the reasonable signal of a station like, Trans World Radio. Then, for seemingly no reason, the voice would become garbled and snarled by electromagnetic interference. I’d twiddle that dial and waggle the aerial until the signal eventually returned and I was able to continue listing to TWR.

God’s Word tells us to be holy as God is holy. With regard to the patterns of this world, Christians are exhorted to be separate. In other words, as followers of Christ, we are called to live lives free of the interference of the world. By no means are we told to despise or reject the people of the world (for God loved the world so much that he sent Jesus to die for it) but we are told to tune into God’s voice and separate ourselves from the corruption of sin. You see, sin has a way of creeping in under the radar. Just like when I listened to shortwave radio stations, electromagnetic interference would corrupt the radio station signal I was tuned to, so that I could not hear what was being said, so sin interferes with our sensitivity to the voice of God’s Holy Spirit. May we learn to twiddle those spiritual dials and raise those spiritual antennae higher to cut out the noise of the WORLD to receive a clearer signal from the WORD.

God-tracking is tuning into God’s clear signal.

ANNOUNCING SURE REALITY MEDIA
These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

I would like to begin by thanking you for your faithful support of GodTracker. This e-mail devotional has been running for 14 years. It began as a result of an e-mail received from a listener of a radio show produced by me, Dudley Anderson called, On Track asking for an e-mail version of the content of the show. Thus, began the weekly e-mail we then called, trACker. It was at this time that the Lord gave me the concept of God-tracking. A God tracker is a person intent on seeking and tracking the plans and purposes of God; for the Bible tells us that God knows the plans he has for us. So began the ministry of the weekly e-devotional, GodTracker hosted at godtracker.co.uk

Some years back we began producing a 1-minute radio spot based on GodTracker called, the Sixty-Second GodTracker. This spot has enjoyed air-time on many radio stations around the world. Last year we added the half-hour talk show, The Reality to the programmes of this ministry. The Reality features people from all walks of life who have been impacted by the reality of Christ. The most recent addition to these programmes is a radio segment featuring a full read of the e-devotional GodTracker. (You can listen to the radio programmes of SRM at, surereality.net/listen)

As a cover for this work we are launching Sure Reality Media or SRM. As a non-profit ministry, SRM will oversee the writing and distribution of GodTracker and the production of Christian radio programmes. In addition to radio and print programmes, SRM will also host an annual conference called, The Reality Conference. SRM will be tithing into the work of Boithuto Community Project in Johannesburg, South Africa. We value your support greatly!

We have the potential of broadcasting our radio shows on shortwave radio across central-southern Africa and across Europe and North Africa. There is also the possibility of being listed on a Christian radio ministry that provides programming for hundreds of stations in the US and around the world. These sources will provide a reach to more 600 million people! But we can’t do it alone.

GOD-TRACKING IS LETTING GOD DO THE FIGHTING FOR YOU

Romans 8:37
Know, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

The mighty Philistine warrior stood brazenly brandishing his 6-and-a-half-kilogram spear. Goliath was a giant of a man. He was selected out of the ranks of the Philistines to represent their army in a one-on-one battle against the Israelites. In those times, to minimise loss, a king would select his strongest man to go out against his counterpart from the opposing army in a one-on-one fight. Whoever won the fight and killed his opponent, would win the battle for his army. Goliath was confident that no Israelite would defeat him. “I defy the ranks of Israel this day. Give me a man, that we may fight together.”

King Saul watched in horror as his men cowered in fear. He had no man in his ranks of the stature of Goliath. Just then a young messenger boy was brought to him. “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? Let no man's heart fail because of him. Your servant will go and fight with this Philistine,” said shepherd-boy David to the king. “All this assembly may know that the LORD saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord’s.”

We know the end of this story well. Young David kills the giant Goliath with a single slingshot. Israel’s champion conquers the Philistine’s champion. Under the rules of war at the time, this meant that the Israelite army had conquered the Philistine army. So, the Israelites pursued the retreating Philistines, gaining a great victory.

I love this story because it makes clear that David is the champion who won the battle. Out of hundreds of mighty men left standing in their ranks, David was the single individual who took on the giant. He fought in the name of the Lord, in one-on-on combat and defeated the enemy. He knew the battle was the Lord’s, that day. However, though David fought alone, he won the battle for all the men in the ranks behind him. He fought the fight but his men won the war. David was the conqueror while his brothers in the ranks were more than conquerors.

Whatever battle you’re in remember, the battle is not yours; it’s the Lord’s. If you are sure you are walking in the truth (and make sure you are walking in the truth), then you have nothing to defend. The truth will vindicate you. If you’re facing a fight today, be still and wait patiently for the Lord to defend you. Be strong and courageous, Jesus has won the victory! In Christ, you are more than a conqueror!

God-tracking is letting God do the fighting for you.

This e-devotional / blog is published once a week via godtracker.co.uk. It developed as a result of a radio programme I once produced called, On Track. GOD-TRACKING IS NEVER QUITTING TO PRAY FOR THAT LOST SOUL YOU LOVE

And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.

Pastor Rod was sipping a cup of coffee at the tea table after church one morning, talking to a lady from the congregation. “You seem down today, Sharon,” he said, noticing that she wasn’t making eye contact with him. “Well, yes,” she answered, “I am feeling a little low. You remember my son, Paul?”

“Yes. Wasn’t he the lad who used to always come with you to church?”

“Yes. Well he’s 17-years old now and has dropped out of school. He went abroad with some friends. I don’t know where he is. Could you please pray for him?” she asked with desperation etched in her voice. “Of course I will,” replied her pastor. Rod faithfully put Paul’s name on his prayer list and prayed regularly for him, that he’d be kept safe and come to find Christ as his Lord and God.

Thirty years later Rod was once again sipping a cuppa at the church tea table after the service. Much had changed. He was now pastoring a new church in a new town and had lost contact with Sharon. A well-dressed middle aged man approached him, whom he’d never seen at church before. “Pastor Rod, we’ve not met. My name is Paul.”

Paul explained how he’d wondered far from the life he once knew growing up in a Christian home. He’d moved from town to town, country to country, living a life of sex, drugs, and decadence. Late one night, destitute and alone on the streets of Ankara a stranger walked up to him and said, “Your life is a mess but you already know the way to get back on your feet. Pray and surrender your life to Jesus. He will rescue you from the chaos you’re in.” Paul dropped his head into his hands and broke down. When he looked up again, the man was gone. “I don’t know if he was an angel or not, Pastor Rod, but one thing I do know, my mother told me you’ve been praying for me all these years. Thank you so much.”

Dear God-tracker, our God is a faithful God whose love endures forever. Scripture tells us that he never abandons us, even when we abandon him. When we pass through fire or the flood he is with us. Jesus taught a parable wherein a young man deserted his father and ran off in seek of fame and fortune only to find himself penniless, impoverished and eating husks fed to pigs just to survive. Coming to his senses and returns home to his father who welcomes him with open arms.

Never, never give up praying for that friend or loved one to come to salvation. God is watching over that dear one and will cause them to hear the message of his love at just the right time. You never know, he may even send his angels to rescue them. Just keep praying!

God-tracking is never quitting to pray for that lost soul you love.

GOD-TRACKING IS ACKNOWLEDGING THAT HE IS YOUR SUCCESS

Proverbs 16:3
Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.

I was sitting quietly in the prayer meeting pondering the words of Psalm 87 in my Bible, open on my lap. Someone had just prayed about his workload and duties at work, which caused me to think about my own responsibilities – work, family, church, home. As I did so, I became a little overcome by the diversity of my commitments and began to feel my enthusiasm begin to drain from me. Psalm 87 speaks about how God loves Zion (Jerusalem). He founded it and populated it. Then my eye caught verse 5, “…the Most High himself will establish her.”

God’s Word dropped into my heart and quelled my anxieties. If he’s called me to be a father, grandfather, husband and pastor then he will watch over his calling to perform it in my life. I have nothing to defend when it comes to God’s plans for me; he alone is able to fulfil his purposes in my life according to his designs, not mine. Indeed, it was he who gave me those responsibilities and duties in the first place. Therefore, if I continue to acknowledge him in all I do, he will see to it that my work will achieve his goals for my life. All that remains is for me to do is to commit my work to him – to cast my responsibilities upon him.

Are you feeling a little overwhelmed by your responsibilities today? It could be you’ve given your all to your job but, as you stand back to view the results, you’re disappointed by other people’s lack of enthusiasm or commitment. Perhaps you feel you’re undervalued or not appreciated by others and this has left you feeling demotivated and despondent. If that’s you, then my humble advice is to do some care-casting today. That is, cast your cares on him, because he loves you. Commit your workload and all your duties to the Lord and he will see to it that your plans will succeed. Do this and the Most High himself will establish you.

God-tracking is acknowledging that he is your success.

GOD-TRACKING IS FILLING YOUR MOUTH WITH GOD’S WORD AND THEN WATCHING HOW HE FULFILS IT

Jeremiah 1:12
Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”

Yong Jeremiah was stunned as he sat on a rock outside the gates of Anathoth, his home town. He was of the tribe of Levi, which meant he would soon be ordained a priest in the house of Israel. He’d gone for a walk and sat down to think about his future when, all of a sudden the Word of God came to him, “Jeremiah, son of Hilkiah, before you were even conceived or born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

“Ah, Lord God! How so? I’m still young and, anyway, I wouldn’t know what to say.”

But God replied to Jeremiah and said that he need not worry about being too young to become a prophet. He added that he would always be with him; he had nothing to fear. Then the Lord touched his mouth and said, “See, I have put my Words in your mouth.”

It was then that Jeremiah had his first vision. He saw an almond tree branch, of all things. I could imagine he was rather puzzled at this.

“What do you see, Jeremiah?” asked the Lord. “I see… er… an almond branch, Lord,” he replied. “You have seen correctly, young man. You see, I will be watching over my Word to perform it in your life.”

Jeremiah understood immediately why he’d seen an almond branch. It was clear to him, a Hebrew speaker. When God used the Hebrew term for almond he would have said, shaw-kade. And then when he said watching he would have used the Hebrew word, shaw-kad. God was using a pun to instil confidence in young Jeremiah that he would always fulfil the Word he had put in Jeremiah’s mouth. So, every time the young prophet saw an almond tree (which are prolific in Israel) or crunched an almond nut between his teeth he would remember God’s promise that he was watching over his Word in his mouth to perform it.

When I began preaching, many years back, I felt a little like young Jerry. I had no confidence in myself that I would ever deliver a sermon to a group of hungry believers with any measure of success. However, the week before I was due to take my first church service I was reading a leadership magazine. I don’t remember what the article was about or who wrote it but, these words jumped off the page right into my heart: “You may think you’ll run out of words to speak every Sunday when you preach. But take courage, like with Jeremiah, God will put his Word in your mouth and he will watch over it to cause it to impact those who hear it.”

You may not feel called to be a preacher but God has called you to share your faith. We are all called to all the world through the Great Commission Jesus gave us. Are you afraid of what you will say when the opportunity arrives? Don’t be afraid, just pray. God will put his Word in your mouth. And it’s not your job to convince anyone of the Gospel. The Holy Spirit himself will watch over what you say to ensure it bears fruit in the hearts of those who hear it. Jesus said, “For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”

Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS FAITHFULLY TRACKING GOD’S PURPOSES BY THE SUFFICIENCY OF HIS GRACE

2 Corinthians 12:9(b)
Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

“Simon, Simon!” called Andrew as he ran up to his brother’s boat, moored at the edge of the lake. “We have found the Messiah!” John and I were listening to John the Baptist speak when suddenly he pointed to Jesus of Nazareth and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.”

“Whatever,” replied Simon as he continued to fold his nets. “No, really. Come see.” Simon reluctantly followed his brother to where Jesus was standing talking to some men. Jesus looked right at Simon and said, “You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Peter,” (which means rock).

And so began the life’s adventure of Simon Peter, one of the most dynamic God-trackers of all Bible characters. But Peter was, what we might call, a rough diamond. His outspokenness would land him in most unsavoury situations, more often than not. It was Peter who drew his sword and cut off the High Priest servant’s ear at the arrest of Jesus and it was Peter who denied his Lord three times after Jesus’ arrest. But it was also Peter who acknowledged Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living God. He was the rock upon whom Jesus built the Church. Simon Peter became the primary leader of the 12 founding apostles of Christianity and he was used of the Holy Spirit to pen several books we now have as scripture in our Bible. Simon Peter was a great man.

Thankfully the Bible is packed with characters like Peter. Men and women who were less than perfect but who were used mightily of God. I take courage as I seek to track God’s will for my own life from the fact that God does not call perfect people to do his purposes. (In fact, there are no perfect people – the only perfect man who ever lived was Jesus Christ himself.) If I was faultless in my lifestyle or my service of God, then I could claim credit for what I do. But, because I am a faulty character (like old Peter) I know that any good thing I do must come from God. Wasn’t it Paul who complained about having a “thorn in the flesh”, but when he talked to the Lord about it Jesus said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”  

Grace is God’s doing. Grace does not overlook our deficiencies; grace produces God’s efficiency though us. By grace we are saved and by grace we serve. God-tracking is seeking to live by the grace of God, especially through our shortfalls. Grace does not condone sin. On the contrary, it reveals sin to us. Grace pardons our sin on our confession and repentance. And grace has a brother called, faith. We are saved by grace through faith and we serve as God-trackers by God’s grace though faith in his power to equip us for duty.

God had a purpose for Simon Peter and God has a purpose for you. You do not need to be perfect to follow God’s purposes; you only need to step out in faith, believing that, by grace, God is fulfilling his purposes through you, to his praise and glory. That’s living by grace.

God-tracking is faithfully tracking God’s purposes by the sufficiency of his grace.

GOD-TRACKING IS HONOURING THE NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES – JESUS CHRIST!  

Philippians 2:9
Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him
the name that is above every name.

Funny how we read the words, “Frequent use of mild bad language”, in the viewing guidance controls on the reverse of many DVD boxes, but when we watch the film it turns out the “mild bad language” is actually the use of the words, “Jesus” or “Christ”. In fact, the use of the Lord’s name as an expletive is so common these days that the average millennial has no idea that Jesus Christ is the name of a real person. There is power in the name of Jesus; there is salvation in the name of Jesus and there is answer to prayer in the name of Jesus.

In his epistle to Philippi Paul writes about the name of Jesus. He tells us that Jesus is the incarnation of the Almighty God and yet, he did not consider equality with God something to brag about. In fact, he says the Son of God humbled himself to the lowest form of ridicule and death, that of crucifixion. The righteous One became our sin on the cross so that we could become God’s righteousness in him. But then, because of his humble obedience, God exalted Jesus above every man, spirit and force. Listen: “God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.” The name of Jesus is powerful – supremely powerful! At that name your knee and my knee as well as the knee of every human, angel and demon will prostrate. It was through Christ that God Created the universe. There is power in the name of Jesus; any wonder why the devil attempts to belittle that name?

After healing the lame man at the temple gate, Peter and John were dragged before the Sanhedrin. The authorities challenged them on the use of the name of Jesus to perform a healing. In response, Peter said, “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Jesus Christ was sinless, yet God placed on him the sin of the world, because all the world has sinned and come short of God’s righteousness. He died to take the results of that sin, but, because Jesus was sinless, he rose victoriously from the dead. In this act, Jesus Christ opened the way for all who would call on his name to be saved. There is power and salvation in the name of Jesus; any wonder why the devil attempts to belittle that name?

Jesus once used the analogy of a grapevine to describe his relationship with his followers. He said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” By this he was saying that we need to remain connected to him. We connect to Christ in faith when we accept him as Lord and Saviour. But Jesus said we need to abide in him. In other words, we enter into covenant with him, like a wife enters into covenant with her husband. When a woman marries a man she takes on his name. My wife is called, Karen Anderson. When you entered covenant with Jesus Christ you took on his name, Christian. Therefore, just as my wife bares my name in business and daily dealings so too do you bare the name of Jesus in your daily life. And it is in that name that you pray! By the authority of the name of Jesus you approach the throne of God with confidence. Therefore, Jesus confidently said, “I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” There is power, there is salvation and there is answered prayer in the name of Jesus; any wonder why the devil attempts to belittle that Name?

God-tracking is honouring the name above all names – Jesus Christ!

GOD-TRACKING IS FACING EVERY NEW DAY LIKE IT’S NEW YEAR’S DAY

 

Psalm 118:24
This is the day that the LORD has made;
    let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Every New Year’s Day we make a big deal of new beginnings – out with the old and in with the new. As we wave farewell to the previous year we look forward to fresh hopes for a new beginning. We search our lives and create New Year’s resolutions with the anticipation of improving our lifestyles. But, the truth be told, 1st January is just another day! And, for me, as the old song goes, Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.

Tracking our way through life often leads us to situations that leave us wanting or feeling disappointed. So often when things don’t work out the way we’d hoped, we feel let down. Perhaps this is how Simon Peter felt as, from a distance, he watched the Roman soldiers nailing his hopes to a wooden cross. He’d had such high expectations for their little band of revolutionaries under the leadership of the One he called the Christ.

“The Christ? Yea, right!” Peter thought to himself. “All those words about the coming Kingdom and all those miracles… If he was the Christ, why doesn’t he do as the Pharisees are shouting and come down from the cross?” Peter had given up everything to follow Jesus. He’d put his hope in the words of his Lord but now, as he watched the Christ die his hopes for a new life were dashed. But if Peter had truly discerned what Jesus was alluding to when he said, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up,” he would have understood that the cross was not the end of their hopes but the beginning. A new day was coming when the Christ would rise again!

Tradition has it that Jesus and his disciples sang Psalm 118 at the last Passover supper they ate together. On the eve of the crucifixion they would have sung the words, “This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Indeed, it was the eve of a new dispensation though before they could realise the joy of resurrection they needed to endure the pain of crucifixion!

As you face the New Year, dear God-tracker, you may have your own hopes for great new dreams. Indeed, God-tracking is based on the premise that God knows the plans he has for each of us – plans for prosperity, hope and a future. Though sometimes those hopes seem to become dashed remember joy comes in the morning. Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.

God-tracking is facing every new day like it’s New Year’s Day

Keep your eyes on Jesus, always.

Guide me and help me to track your plans and purposes every single day, not just the bright new days of January. I commit this year to you and determine to seek first your kingdom and your righteousness, always. And as I face disappointments and let downs, help me to remember that every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before. Amen.”

Dear God-tracker

God-tracking is shouting about all God has done for you!

What’s in a word? Jesus once said, “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Words are thoughts, emotions and pictures held captive in our hearts yet they escape through the gate of our lips. The spoken word is very powerful. The spoken word is a confession and a confession is an admission to belief. This is why we are told to believe that Jesus died and rose again and confess him as Lord.

The scriptures also say, “And they have conquered him by the Blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” This verse is talking about conquering the devil. When Jesus died his Blood was shed as atonement for sin just as the blood of a spotless lamb was shed under the old covenant. It was by his Blood that Christ conquered the forces of darkness, and there is absolutely nothing the devil can do about that! However, the objective victory of the Blood only becomes subjective victory in your life if you confess – testify – to your belief in the victory of the shed Blood. Therefore, if you have confessed that Jesus shed his Blood for you then you have gained victory over Satan, sin, sickness, poverty, anxiety and eternal death itself!

Nevertheless, Satan will do all he can to prevent you from testifying to what God is doing in your life. The devil is the source of all that is evil and destructive, including all forms of physical and emotional illness. Jesus called him the thief who comes to kill, steal and destroy. And the devil is also called, the father of lies. In him there is no truth. And lies hold no water. On the other hand, Jesus is called the Truth and in him there is no lie. The Truth of God stands solid for eternity and the Truth of God supersedes the lie of the Destroyer! So when Satan tells you you’re not healed or that you’re not forgiven or that you’re not free from anxiety then tell him he is a liar!

When you receive a touch from God remind your mouth to confess what God has done. By the shed Blood of Jesus you were healed. So go ahead and shout about it! God’s word promises that he will meet all your needs in Christ. So go ahead and shout about it! God’s word says that God has not given you a spirit of fear but of love, power and sound mind. So go ahead and shout about it! Add your testimony to the victory of the Blood of the Lamb and you will overcome the father of lies!
