GOD-TRACKING IS BEING WILLING TO BE PLANTED BY THE LORD

Isaiah 61:3
… they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.

I used to be an avid gardener. I’d rise early on a Saturday morning to go out into the garden and begin weeding, planting, cutting and digging until sunset. Gardening can be very tiring but also very therapeutic. Though my dear wife, Karen is the chief gardener in my home these days, I still love the satisfaction I feel when I stand back at the end of a hard day’s labour and admire the beauty of a manicured garden.

Father God is a great gardener, too. He planted a magnificent garden at the beginning of time called, Eden. We read that God probably enjoyed the same satisfaction we do at the end of a day in the garden. The Bible says he walked with man in the cool of the day. Unfortunately, man rejected God’s fellowship and ended up being excluded from Eden. However, in his immaculate wisdom and love, God reconciled man to himself through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus, the sinless one, became sin for us so that, in him, we could become oaks of righteousness, and so walk with God again in the cool of the day.

Because of what Jesus did for you, your life has become like Eden. The Lord desires to walk with you and fellowship with you as he did with Adam. He desires for you to pour your heart out to him so that he can get-in-there do some weeding, digging and watering. The Lord has great plans for you, just as my lovely wife has for our garden. He may wish to landscape your life by digging up old ground and reshaping your garden beds, filling them with gorgeous blooms. At the end of every season he will cut you back and prune your branches so that you will bear double the fruit next year. You may even find that Father God may pick some of the lovely flowers growing in your garden to light up the life of someone else, in need of cheer. Your God is an avid gardener. Allow him to turn your dry patch into an award-winning masterpiece, that he may be glorified.

In Christ, I am an oak of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to his glory

“Dear Father God, I submit to your expert hand today. I desire for you to weed out the unwanted parts of my life and plant the crop of your choice in its place. Dear Chief Gardener, landscape my life so that I will be shaped according to your plan and not my own. I desire to walk with you in the cool of the day. I desire to pour out my heart to you and, as I do, I know you will meet my needs, cure my ills and shape my life according to your blueprint. In Christ, I am an oak of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to his glory. Amen.”

Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS DISCOVERING GOD’S PURPOSES TO MAKE YOU AN AMBASSADOR OF RECONCILIATION

2 Corinthians 5:18
All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.

Author and Bible teacher, Rick Warren said, “The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfilment, your peace of mind or even your happiness. It’s far greater than your family, your career or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose.” God’s Word says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” It also says, “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” And this is exactly what God-tracking is all about.

I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour at the age of 9. My brother, who is 6 years older than me, took me to a church that was aptly named, The Miracle Centre. Here I witnessed many miracles of God from legs growing to testimonies of the healing of cancer. The best miracles of all, however, were the many people who discovered the grace of God through the work of Jesus. It was here that I heard that the story of Jesus dying on the cross for the sins of the world was more than a Children’s Bible story – it was true fact! There is a real man called, Jesus who is sinless in every way, and he yet took the consequences of my sin upon himself when he died; for the wages of sin is death. But this Jesus (who is the Son of God) did not stay dead, he rose again. Because Jesus isn’t guilty of sin meant, death could not keep him down! It was at The Miracle Centre that I learned how God reconciled me to himself through the greatest miracle of all – the resurrection of Jesus! And he did it for me.

From that age till now I have been discovering that Jesus did indeed die and rise again to set me free from sin, but this fact has a purpose for me on earth. I’ve discovered the reason God has reconciled me to himself through Christ is for me to walk with him by faith, discovering his plans and purposes for my life. As the Scripture says, “He died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who, for their sake, died and was raised.” You see, God reconciled us to himself through Christ so that we might all have the ministry of reconciliation. What purpose!

This ministry can take on many shapes from preaching the gospel to thousands, to sharing the love of Jesus with one close friend. It is God’s will for us to discover his plans for us so that we may fit that purpose. To discover God’s plans and purposes I encourage you to seek first his Kingdom and goodness. Tracking God’s will for you involves acknowledge him in all your ways: your relationships, your family, your career and your wildest dreams and ambitions. Then walk in God’s will by faith, trusting him with all your heart and not leaning on your own understanding. Indeed, discovering your real purpose in life begins with God.

God-tracking is discovering God’s purposes to make you an ambassador of reconciliation

Every blessing

Dudley

Don’t Give Up, Look Up!

Today, O Lord, I confess that my purpose in life begins with God

Pray
“O Lord Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins to reconcile me to God. Thank you that you did not stay dead but rose again to make a way for me to enter new life in God. Today I commit my life to you; I acknowledge you in each and every part of my life and seek first your Kingdom purposes for my future. I receive the ministry you have given me (as you have every believer) to be a reconciler – sharing the Good News of Jesus with those around me. Help me to make the most of every opportunity and to walk exclusively according to you plans for my life. Today, O Lord, I confess that my purpose in life begins with God. Amen."

Dear God Tracker

Walk Again with Him in the Cool of the Day

God-tracking involves tracking and remaining on-track with the plans that God has for our lives. The scripture tells us that he knows the plans he has for us; plans to prosper us and give us hope for the future. However, it is God who knows these plans – not us. Therefore we need to look for and track his plans as he reveals them to us day by day and moment by moment.

One of the plans that I have discovered that God has for us all is to fellowship with us. Jesus once said, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends,” (John 15:13). Then immediately went on to say, “You are my friends if you do what I command,” (John 15:14). This blows my mind: God promises to be my friend! There is a condition to this promise, however, and that is to do what he commands. Following our God’s plans most definitely requires filling our hearts and minds with his word and living by it.

In the Garden of Eden we see how God creates man in his own image. He made us perfect and good, as he is. We notice that man and God had a very deep relationship in the Garden. They walked together in the cool of the day. But God had issued Adam and Eve with a command to not eat of a certain tree, or they would die. Sadly, we read that the devil tempts them and they both fall by disobeying God’s word. At that dreadful moment sin and decay entered mankind and the world at large. Man had stepped out of fellowship with God.

Getting back to the words of Jesus, I notice that God still desires my friendship. In fact, it was by his own initiative that God drew me back into relationship with himself through Jesus when he died and rose again. God made him who had no sin, to be sin for me so that, in him, I might become God’s righteousness. In other words, because of Jesus’ sacrifice both you and I are once again reconciled to God’s perfect image so we can walk again with him in the cool of the day.

God-tracking is remaining true friends with God.

Bless ya

Dudley

Verse of the Week

Hebrews 4:11
Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.

Quote of the Week

A Sample of Dudley’s Fave Quotes.

“The question we must ask our heart is, "Am I comfortable under the eye of God? Or is God getting too close?" We are strange and lovely creatures. We can ache for God tremendously yet find ourselves getting nervous if God gets too close. After all, the closer God gets, the more we hear the call to be divinized. It is both exciting and frightening to hear that call.” --- MacRina Wiederkehr

Don’t Give-up, Look-up!

Look-up and Fix Your Eyes On Jesus!

I May Enjoy the Hope of Walking with You in the Cool of the Day

Colossians 1:22-23
But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation-- if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel.

Pray
“Oh my God and my king; my Father and my friend, thank you so much for reconciling me to yourself through Jesus. Thank you Jesus for your obedience in that you went to the cross for me. I am sorry for all my sin, O Lord, and welcome your word into my life. I choose now to live for you moment by moment and to seek your will for my life by your word. Help me to continue in my faith that I may enjoy the hope of walking with you in the cool of the day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
