GOD-TRACKING IS WAITING AND WATCHING FOR GOD’S PURPOSE TO RIPEN IN HIS TIME

I have a pear tree in my back yard that produces the most succulent large pear. Early spring, it bursts in to vibrant blossom. Leaves then appear and soon I notice small green fruit beginning to form. I wait and watch with anticipation for the tiny pears to grow and grow until finally, they become ripe and ready to be plucked. However, I prefer to wait further until the fruit to falls from the tree, in fear of picking it before it’s fully ripe. Yet, I never know the exact moment each pear will fall. Each fruit becomes ready in season but only falls to the ground when its time has come.

Approximately 2017 years ago a young Nazarene girl called, Mary fell pregnant outside of wedlock. The Holy Spirit had come upon her and she had miraculously conceived a baby boy. By God’s grace, Joseph, her betrothed, remained by her side. For almost nine months she and Joseph watched and waited for the birth of the son they were to call, Jesus. But then the unexpected happened, Caesar Augustus called for a censes to be taken of the Roman Empire. Everyone needed to return to his town of origin to be registered. Joseph, a descendent of king David, was born in Bethlehem so he and his very pregnant wife embarked on the long journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. By the time they arrived, her time had come. Neither parent knew the moment of birth; neither could precisely plan for it, only God knew the exact moment Jesus would be born. Yet, God timed it perfectly so that Jesus would be born in the town of Bethlehem as foretold by the prophet Micah. The season was right but only God knew when Jesus’ time had come.

Just as God the Father orchestrated the circumstances that brought Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem at the right season for the birth of Messiah, so God will arrange the circumstances of your seasons for the birth of his designs in your life. Just as I choose to watch and wait for the fruit to fall from my pear tree rather than plucking it before it’s ripe, be encouraged to watch and wait for God’s purposes to come to fruition in his time, rather than jumping the gun to pick the fruit before it’s ripe. God’s plan for you will mature in season but will only fall to the ground when its time has come.

Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us

I’m told that the Greeks had a race in the early Olympic games that was unique to all the others. The winner of the race was not the runner who finished first. The winner was the runner who finished his race with his torch still lit. Paul the apostle, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit said, “Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we, an imperishable.”

One of my favourite English words is the word tenacity. Tenacity is defined as the quality or fact of being very determined; determination to grip something firmly. I could imagine those runners in the early Greek Olympics running as fast as they could, while gripping their Olympic torches firmly, with determination to win in such a way as to keep their flames burning.

God-tracking implies tracking the plans of God for our lives. This process requires us to remain on track with God’s purposes. If one of these athletes, running a track race, veered off track while he was running, he might stumble and fall in the rough, extinguish his torch. Christian, you and I are called to be the light of the world. Jesus said, “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” To keep that torch burning is to stay on track with God’s plans by acknowledge him in all your ways while seeking first his kingdom principles. Then to run the race set out before you with tenacity. Never, never give up and you will receive that imperishable prize!

God-tracking is running tenaciously

Help me to run with endurance and my flame burning this race that is set before me

“O Lord, forgive me for going off track and stumbling in the dirt of the world. I admit, my light has dimmed. I repent of all sin and grief that I have caused your Holy Spirit. I choose to pick myself up again and get back on the track to run with perseverance and tenacity, this race you have set out for me. I acknowledge you again in ever aspect of my life – from my supper private life to my most public life – and choose to line myself up again with your kingdom and your righteousness. GOD-TRACKING IS GETTING ON AND REMAINING ON TRACK WITH GOD’S PLANS

Ephesians 1:17
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him

Subscribe to GodTracker by email
Twenty-years ago I received a revelation on the concept of knowing God’s purposes for my life. In previous GodTrackers I’ve shared how God seemingly had opened an important door for me, only for him to firmly shut it again. When I asked why, he simply said, “You’re on track with my plans.” You see, the Bible says, “’I know the plans I have for you,’ says the LORD.” That day I discovered that it is God who knows the plans he has for me, but I don’t; not until he reveals them to me, that is. He calls me only to daily seek and track his plans. Hence the concept of God-tracking. And his plans are always for a hopeful future. Since that day I have never been abandoned by the Lord I seek, even through the most gruelling of circumstances.

You may read this, wishing that you could discover God’s plans for your life, too. Discovering God’s plans requires two things: 1) Acknowledge the Lord and 2) Acknowledge the Lord.

Firstly, have you acknowledged Christ as Lord of your life? Have you come to a point where you realise that God is good and you’re not? Yes, you are not good enough for God! Neither am I! All mankind has sinned and missed God’s goodness; none of us is good enough for God. Only God can be good enough for God. That’s why God sent his only Son, Jesus Christ into the world. The good God became like one of us, through Jesus. Jesus was born of a virgin; therefore, he is sinless. The result of sin is death and Jesus died. But because he was sinless, he did not remain dead but rose again. While we were yet sinners, God showed his love in that Christ died for us. God made Christ who had no sin, to become sin for us so that by faith in him we could be made good by the grace of God. We all went astray from God’s goodness, but God laid on Jesus the inequity of us all. Through confession and repentance of sin and acknowledging Christ as Lord, you can be saved to discover God’s good plans for your life.

Secondly, don’t leave it there. Continue to seek and acknowledge God in every part of your life, daily. Acknowledge God in your work life, your family life and your private life. Acknowledge God in your finances, your ambitions and your desires. Acknowledge God in your successes and your failures. If you acknowledge in every part of your life, then he will make straight your paths and keep you on track with his plans.

Help me to daily seek your will and remain on track with your plans and purposes

“Dear God, I deeply desire to know your plans for my life. I admit that I have been far from you. I confess and repent of my sins and shortfalls. I believe that Jesus, the sinless One, died in my place and rose again to save me from the results of sin, which is death. I not only believe this truth but I now confess the reality of is for myself. I give my life to Christ and accept him as my Lord and Saviour. Dear God, I now acknowledge you in every aspect of my life. I acknowledge your presence. I acknowledge your righteousness. I acknowledge your glory. And I acknowledge your hand upon every part of my life. Help me to daily seek your will and remain on track with your plans and purposes. Amen.”

GOD-TRACKING IS REMAINING SEATED WITH GOD IN CHRIST

Ephesians 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places
More at surereality.net

I awoke around 3.00am and I lay in bed thinking about what I’ve done with my life. Have I had any real effect on the lives of those to whom I minister? What are God’s plans for tomorrow, next week, next year? Then worries, doubts and disillusion creep in. Thoughts like these always seem so magnified at that time of night, don’t they?

I call this the wonder hour. I often wake up around 3.00am wondering why I’m awake. Psychologists tell us that it’s at this time in our sleep cycle that our subconscious minds are attempting to solve problems and rationalise our activities. I climbed out of bed and went downstairs to pour myself a glass of milk. Sitting sipping the cool drink in the lounge I prayed, “Dear Lord, there are so many things going on at this time. I feel like I’m losing the plot. I cast my cares on you, because I know you care for me.” In a flash I sensed the Spirit’s reply, “I will give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation. All things are under the feet of Christ and you are seated with God, in Christ.” I returned to bed at peace and content.

Philippians 2 tells us that God sent Jesus, who humbled himself in the form of a man, to die on a cross for our sins. Because of his humility and obedience, God then exalted Jesus to the highest place, giving him a name that is above every name. At the name of Jesus the Christ, every knee will bow! Then in Ephesians 2 we read that, because of his great grace and mercy, if we acknowledge Jesus as Lord, we are seated in Christ with God. So, the next time you’ve had a tough day or are facing daunting prospects for the future and wake up at the wonder hour, I encourage you to cast your cares on him. Then put your feet up and rest on the lap of Christ, in God’s perfect place.

GOD-TRACKING IS STAYING ALERT

Ephesians 5:13-14
But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: "Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

Subscribe at godtracker.co.uk
With bloodied sweat on his brow, Jesus made his way the few paces back to his friends who he’d ask to join him in prayer in the olive grove. He’d been travailing before the Father for hours. It was well past midnight and he knew that he would soon be arrested, tried, convicted and crucified for crimes he’d never committed. "Could you men not keep watch with me?" he asked them. "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."
John and his two friends, James and Peter had sat down a stone’s throw away from Jesus and watched him pray. They had a feeling that something dreadful was about to take place, but fatigue had overtaken them. Sadly, they could not keep their eyes open at this late hour, leaving Jesus to face the cup of God’s wrath, alone.

Many years later well after Peter and James had been martyred, the risen and ascended Jesus Christ appeared to John in a vision on the Greek Isle of Patmos. Before he revealed to John what would come at the end of all time, Jesus gave John instructions to the churches of Asia Minor. To the church in Sardis he said, “Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God.” I can’t help wondering if John thought back to that auspicious moment in Gethsemane when he had fallen asleep watching the Son of God bear the weight of wrath.

As we track God’s purposes we often become blasé about his commands and instructions. We become so familiar with prayer, worship and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit that we fall asleep in our complacency. The danger of this is that we miss the blessings of God and fail to follow his plans. We are told to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author of our faith. If we lose focus of the Saviour we will become weak and open ourselves to the arrest of the enemy. Let’s open ourselves rather to God’s word. And God’s word to us today is to “Wake up! Strengthen what remains.”

I shake myself awake and strengthen what remains, for I believe that you are coming soon, Lord Jesus

“Dear God, I am sorry for my slumber. I apologise for my apathy and repent of becoming complacent about your Word, worship, prayer and fellowship. You have saved me by the blood of Jesus and I have been taking this fact for granted. I am so sorry, O Lord. I stir myself awake now. I rouse myself to enjoy every moment with you as though it was the moment I first asked Jesus into my life. Help me to celebrate every living minute in the freshness of your presence. Help me to live every day with my eyes on Jesus. And help me to make the most of every occasion for the Gospel. I shake myself awake and strengthen what remains, for I believe that you are coming soon, Lord Jesus. Amen.”

Jeremiah 29:11

The night was very dark. The wind howled through torn rigging like a ravenous wolf. Lashing rain combined with smashing white waters, flooded the deck. The crew and prisoners on board this vessel had been lashed by a ferocious storm at sea for weeks. They were exhausted and feared certain death. Paul, a prisoner aboard the ship said, “Men, I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. For this very night there stood before me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship, and he said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar. And behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.’”

True to his Word, God preserved all their lives. The ship ran aground near Malta, but all on board were saved. When they landed, the people of the island welcomed them warmly. While making a fire, Paul was bitten by a viper, but when he failed to die the islanders thought he was a god. Paul hastily corrected their perception, telling them about the power God to save, deliver and heal, through Jesus Christ. The result was a great revival on Malta. The whole island turned to Jesus and many were healed of their infirmities. Nearly 2,000 years later, the island of Malta still enjoys a strong Christian influence.

So often I hear people say that their lives have been shipwrecked by circumstances beyond their control. I think we can safely say that Paul’s shipwreck, as described above, was beyond his control. Yet, God used the circumstances of this apparent disaster to bring many, many into his kingdom and performed miracles of healing, to boot. I think we can safely say that the event of Paul’s shipwreck was well within God’s plan for the apostle’s life.

Acknowledge God in all your ways and he will direct your life’s track. Even through the storms of looming shipwreck, God’s purposes will prevail. God knows the plans he has for you, so have faith in his designs. Keep your eyes on Christ. Look through your shipwreck experience, scorn its shame, and go on to enjoy the blessings God has in store for you. God’s plans are always for your welfare, to give you a future filled with hope.

Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.

One of golf's immortal moments came when a Scotsman demonstrated the new game to American President Ulysses Grant. He carefully placed the ball on the tee and took a mighty swing. The club hit the turf and sprayed dirt all over the President's beard and suit, while the ball sedately waited on the tee. Again and again, the Scotsman swung but he missed. President Grant waited patiently through six attempts and then quietly said, "There seems to be a fair amount of exercise in the game, but I fail to see the purpose of the ball.”

Some mornings I wake up void of enthusiasm, wrestling to affirm the true reasons I do what I do. It’s not that I have been demotivated by anything or anyone, just that I feel unmotivated to get on with it. Ever been there? Inevitably, I have taken on so many activities that I’ve burned out and lost focus. It’s at times like these, I need a fresh sense of purpose.

The Scriptures tell us that God has a plan and a purpose for each of us. God is omniscient and omnipresent – he knows each of us personally. He knows the plans he has for you and me. However, we often assume we know God’s plans and grab hold of every opening that comes our way. Sadly, we often end up missing the purposes God has planned for us and finding ourselves swinging away at life, missing the ball at every strike. We need to learn to trust God’s purposes for our lives. As Brian Houston says, “When the Lord gives you a sense of purpose, that purpose ruins you for anything else. Nothing else will ever bring true peace, because peace is found only in pursuing the purposes of God.”

It was winter in New York when Captain Sullenberger crash landed his wounded Airbus A320 on the Hudson River. The plane had suffered a bird strike, disabling both engines. Sullenberger had no option but to bring the craft down on the freezing waters. Miraculously the plane remained intact. Once down, Sullenberger and his crew evacuated the passengers, most of whom stood on the wings of the craft, awaiting rescue. One hundred and fifty-five people were on board US Airways Flight 1549 that day, including passengers and crew; 155 people survived the crash.

I was watching the 2016 film, Sully for the second time, featuring Tom Hanks staring as the airline pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger. The film portrayed an accurate account of the 15th January 2009 event. Intrigued, I watched as the crew and passengers stood precariously on the wings of the Airbus as it slowly sank in the frigid winter waters. Captain Sully was indeed, heroic in landing the plane securely on the Hudson, but he was not the only hero. One by one, humble civilian ferries and boats pulled alongside the stricken aircraft, rescuing all 155 people from certain drowning.

As I watch I sensed the Holy Spirit of God speak gently into my heart. You and all those who are called by my name, are just like these humble craft; called to rescue the lost! Rescue those who are on the edge of death, though they don’t even realise it. Go!

Jesus gave us a commission: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations. We are compelled to rescue those who are on the precipice of eternal death – compelled by command and compelled by love. We have been commissioned by our Commander in Chief to come alongside and throw out the lifejacket of his Gospel to rescue those who are lost, though they don’t know it. If we delay or just drift about watching them drown their blood will be on our hands. The times are drawing in. Jesus’ return is imminent. We need to do as he has commanded, GO – Get Out!

I wept and as I watched the humble un-trained crews and passengers of those day-to-day ferries rescuing the perishing.

I pray that you will open the door for me to share my faith with them… before it’s too late

“Dear Lord, I’m sorry for being complacent about the great commission. Forgive me for not making the most of every opportunity to share the Good News of the Gospel. Help my now to be bold and stout-hearted and Get Out (GO) there to rescue the lost. I pray for my friends and loved ones who are on the verge of spiritual disaster and don’t even know it. I pray that they will see the truth and wise up! I pray that you will open the door for me to share my faith with them – to though out the lifejacket of your Word – and rescue them before it’s too late. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”

GOD-TRACKING IS PRAYING WHILE PATIENTLY WAITING FOR GOD’S PLANS TO BE FULFILLED

I pulled up next to a tour coach at a traffic light. It was loaded with fun seeking people at the start of their vacation, all laughing and chatting about days ahead filled with sun and sights. But that red light was taking ages to change. Tapping my steering wheel impatiently, a thought dropped into my heart, “There are times in life when I feel as though I’m just sitting stationary in an old bus, idling at a red traffic light – chug, chug, chug.

The words of God through the prophet Jeremiah came to mind: “I know the plans I have for you. Plans to give you a hope and future.” Jeremiah had prophesied that the people of Judah were to be conquered by the Babylonians and taken into exile. He said they would remain in exile for 70 years but after this time God would restore them and prosper his people once again. Young Daniel was one of those taken into exile. Daniel’s heart was right before God. I could imagine Daniel reading Jeremiah’s words with anticipation of good times ahead, yet, as the years dragged by, perhaps he couldn’t help wondering when the light was going to change. However, Daniel was not idle during his time in exile. He was a man of prayer, so much so that he was even thrown into a pit of lions, because he dared pray to Yahweh. He was also a prophet who interpreted dreams and prophesied coming ages. Daniel made the most of his waiting years. His prayer witness and his words changed even the hardened heats of the tyrant kings. And his witness and words are still changing lives today. Daniel did not idly resign to his fate. While he waited for God’s plans for his people to mature, Daniel rose up as praying man faith.

Chug, chug, chug, spluttered the old bus at the red light next my car. The Holy Spirit spoke into my heart: “So, while waiting for your light to change, pray, pray, pray! For I know the plans I have for you. Seek them in prayer. A time of idling is not a time to be idle.”

DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

I determine to wait patiently for my circumstances to line up with your plans for my life

“Dear Lord, it feels like I’ve been stopped at this place for ages. I know you have plans for my life and I know you have a purpose for me to see the fruit of my work, but sometimes I feel as though I’m just idling away at a red light, waiting for change to happen. So, Lord, I pray for your plans to work out in my life and the lives of those around me. I pray for patience and a pray for peace. I pray for your kingdom to come and your will to be done. I fix my mind on things above and my eyes on Jesus, Dear Lord, I determine to wait patiently for my circumstances to line up with your plans for my life. Amen.”

GOD-TRACKING IS PATIENTLY WAITING FOR GOD TO CLEAR THE BOTTLENECKS OF LIFE

Psalm 47:7

Karen and I were trekking home after a tremendous few days at a Christian conference. We were driving southbound on a main motorway in the British West Midlands. Our side of the motorway was free flowing, thankfully, but as we drove on we noticed a large articulated truck that had pulled off the carriageway on the opposite side of the road. The large vehicle had endured a blowout and its crew were changing the wheel. Due the size of the vehicle and the hazard it presented to other road users, the police had cordoned off two lanes, resulting in all the upcoming traffic being directed into one lane past the broken-down truck. Consequently, the traffic had backed up for miles leading up to the bottleneck at the road incident. Still charged from the touch of the Holy Spirit at the conference, I had a flash of inspiration cross my mind. The Lord dropped a word into my heart: “This is where so many of my children find themselves these days, backed up at a bottleneck in life.”

I know from my own walk along God’s track of life, that we, as 21st century Christians, become so involved and committed to myriad activities that, when we come across a little hiccup along the motorways of life, we become backed up and slow down like cars in a traffic jam. Consequently, we become stressed out, anxious and impatient. By our own reasoning we think we have everything under our control so when the unforeseen happens, we end up blaming others or God for messing up the free flow of our lives. But, God often uses the unforeseen little holdups in life to force us to stop and survey our journey. It’s when the unforeseen little holdups happen that we notice the scenery for the first time. And it’s often when the unforeseen little holdups happen that God begins to thin our lives out and teach a crucial lesson in patience and endurance. Our God is a patient God.

GOD-TRACKING IS BEING READY TO CAST YOUR BREAD UPON THE WATERS

There’s an Jewish tale that goes: Bar Kappara, an old Jewish sage, was once walking along the seashore of Caesarea, when he noticed a shipwreck out at sea. As he watched, he saw a man swimming from the wreck towards the shore. When the man reached land, he almost collapsed with weariness. Bar Kappara went forward and gave him a helping hand. He then took him home, clothed him, fed him and offered him some money. So, the man went away refreshed and restored.

Some years later, the Jews of Caesarea found themselves in a predicament with the local authorities and decided to send a petition to the Governor. They chose Bar Kappara to go and speak on their behalf. Bar Kappara prayed to God to for guidance. When he reached the palace, he asked to see the Governor. As he was ushered into the presence of the Governor, to his great astonishment, Bar Kappara recognized him as the same man whom he had once saved and helped on the shores of Caesarea.

"What can I do for you, my friend?" said the Governor, recognizing Bar Kappara as his onetime friend in need. "Bar Kappara earnestly begged the Governor to use his influence in helping his fellow countrymen deal with the pending need. Listening carefully to the story, the Governor said, “I will gladly do this favour for you, my friend, because when I was in such a desperate state you helped me to the maximum of your ability, without asking for or expecting any reward. Because of your unselfishness and kindness to me, I shall now help your suffering brethren at your request."
The Governor gave a large sum of money to Bar Kappara saying, “Take this money back as a gift from me. For, although the sum of money you gave me was not as great as this, to me it meant everything at the time of my need. You may return to your brethren and tell them that I am helping them, out of gratitude to you."

Bar Kappara joyfully hurried back with the good news to his friends who were anxiously awaiting his return. Great was the rejoicing among them at Bar Kappara's good tidings. They all acknowledged how true was the saying of King Solomon: "Cast thy bread upon the waters for you shall find it after many days."

You may be faced with the prospect of letting go of a vision or a dream today; or God may be asking you to sow into the needs of another. Be sure that, if you acknowledge God in all your ways, he will guide your life’s track. And if he is guiding your life’s track then you can be sure that the words of Jesus will hold true for you: “For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

ANNOUNCING SURE REALITY MEDIA
These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.
Colossians 2:17
I would like to begin by thanking you for your faithful support of GodTracker. This e-mail devotional has been running for 14 years. It began as a result of an e-mail received from a listener of a radio show produced by me, Dudley Anderson called, On Track asking for an e-mail version of the content of the show. Thus, began the weekly e-mail we then called, trACker. It was at this time that the Lord gave me the concept of God-tracking. A God tracker is a person intent on seeking and tracking the plans and purposes of God; for the Bible tells us that God knows the plans he has for us. So began the ministry of the weekly e-devotional, GodTracker hosted at godtracker.co.uk

Some years back we began producing a 1-minute radio spot based on GodTracker called, the Sixty-Second GodTracker. This spot has enjoyed air-time on many radio stations around the world. Last year we added the half-hour talk show, The Reality to the programmes of this ministry. The Reality features people from all walks of life who have been impacted by the reality of Christ. The most recent addition to these programmes is a radio segment featuring a full read of the e-devotional GodTracker. (You can listen to the radio programmes of SRM at, surereality.net/listen)

As a cover for this work we are launching Sure Reality Media or SRM. As a non-profit ministry, SRM will oversee the writing and distribution of GodTracker and the production of Christian radio programmes. In addition to radio and print programmes, SRM will also host an annual conference called, The Reality Conference. SRM will be tithing into the work of Boithuto Community Project in Johannesburg, South Africa. We value your support greatly!

We have the potential of broadcasting our radio shows on shortwave radio across central-southern Africa and across Europe and North Africa. There is also the possibility of being listed on a Christian radio ministry that provides programming for hundreds of stations in the US and around the world. These sources will provide a reach to more 600 million people! But we can’t do it alone.
Please pray for this new media ministry. In a media world consumed by so-called, fake news it’s great to know we can offer good news. So please consider becoming an SRM Ministry Partner. It will require about £20,000 to comfortably establish SRM. We value your support greatly!

GOD-TRACKING IS BEGUN BY CALLING ON THE NAME OF THE LORD

O death, where is your sting?”

As a pastor, I am often asked to conduct funeral services. All funerals are sad, as we remember the passing of friends and loved ones. To me, the saddest funerals are those I conduct where the deceased has not acknowledged Christ as Lord. However, my loving counsel to believing loved ones is, only hope! No one knows the last thoughts of a soul on their death bed. The old saying goes, “My life flashed before my eyes.” If this is true then it could be that, at the very last split second before death, the dear soul may have called on the name of the Lord. And all who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

At every funeral I conduct I like to talk about life. It may seem an odd thing to do at a funeral, but Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,” The reality of life on earth is, we are all going to die. That is, there is coming a moment when the chemistry of your and my body will cease to react and our hearts will cease beating. But this body I have is only a jar of clay that contains my soul. My soul and my spirit, once created by God, are immortal. That is, the real me will always exist, even after my body has ceased to function. The question is, where will the real me spend eternity? Because of sin, my soul has come short of God’s glory and, unless reconciled to God, will suffer the eternal death we call hell. However, the truth is, God has made a way for me to know his forgiveness of sin and to be reconciled to his life, through Christ. Indeed, God loved the world so much that he sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in him shall not suffer eternal death, but shall enjoy eternal life. Death has lost its sting!
And so it is, at every funeral I conduct I talk about life. This life is free and available to all who call on the name of the Lord, before it’s too late.

God-tracking is begun by calling on the name of the Lord.

Come into my life, Lord Jesus, as I give my life to you

“Holy God, I admit it, I was born into sin. I confess that I have sinned and come short of your righteousness. I am sorry for my sin, O Lord. I now believe that Jesus, the sinless One, died in my place to take the punishment for my sin. And I believe that he rose from the dead, to free me from the clutches of sin and death. I now call on your name, Lord and put my faith in Christ. I confess him as Lord of my life. Come into my life, Lord Jesus, as I give my life to you. Amen.”

GOD-TRACKING IS PRAISING GOD IN THE HALLWAY

Psalm 27:14

“And while you’re waiting for God to open that door, praise him in the hallway!” I read the Facebook posting on my timeline and smiled. I immediately remembered what the scriptures say in Revelation. John the Apostle was given messages to the 7 churches of Asia Minor. To the church of Philadelphia, he was told to write that what Christ opens no man can shut and what he shuts no man can open. Then he went on to say that God himself had placed before the Philadelphians an open door.

God-tracking is all about acknowledging God in all our ways and seeking him by faith. If we do this then God will lead us according to his plans for our lives. In the process of tracking God’s plans, we often encounter so called, “doors” of opportunity. In other words, we’re presented with options to walk through new doors in life as God gives us opportunity. Sometimes these doors are way open and all we need do is step on in. However, sometimes we find ourselves in a large palatial hallway with several doors before us (or opportunities), all closed. It is here that we need to pause before grabbing the first available door handle and thrusting the door open, on our own initiative. It is here that we need to wait on God and wait for God to orchestrate the circumstances of our lives to fall in line with his plans, before a new door opens to us. It’s in this waiting that we need to patiently praise God and submit to his will. So, while you’re waiting for God to open that door, praise him in the hallway!

I give my future to you and choose to praise you here in the hallway, as I wait for you to open the next door in my life

“My Lord, thank you for the many doors you have opened to me in my life. Thank you for all your blessings and opportunities. Yet, sometimes I find myself in a hallway, facing many closed doors, not knowing which door to push open. I do acknowledge you in all my ways, O Lord, so help me to hear your voice and follow your bidding in making the most of these opportunities, with all wisdom.
