“Even in the darkest places, our God is there. Even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, he is with us. He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies.”

GodTracker Devotional Books by Dudley Anderson

The other day I interviewed a pastor called Lee for my radio show, The Reality. Lee had been admitted to hospital because he was infected with Covid-19 coronavirus. He was very ill, and, for a short while, the medics were concerned for his life. As with any infectious disease like this, the ward he was admitted to was quarantined. Only qualified medical staff were permitted in, attired in full protective gear. The only other person permitted onto his ward was the cleaner (also dressed in protective clothing).

As expected, Lee lay in his bed feeling very forlorn and ill. He cried out to God for someone he could speak with, who might offer him some encouragement. Just then the door opened and in walked the humble cleaner. Desperate, Lee began talking to him and soon discovered that he had been a missionary to Nigeria. It tuned out this man was a deeply anointed preacher. As he mopped and cleaned, the cleaner encouraged Lee. Then he stopped and prayed for the pastor.

Lee was most encouraged after the cleaner left his isolation ward. He even began to feel physically better. Suddenly he had a craving for prawn cocktail crisps and a can of coke, of all things. Lee chuckled to himself as he drifted off to sleep. The next morning the cleaner he’d spoken to walked past the window to his ward and gave him the thumbs up. Lee smiled and returned the gesture. Then the cleaner pushed open the door and dropped a small bag into his room. He waved and walked off. Intrigued, Lee climbed out of bed and collected the gift. His heart soared and tears warmed his eyes as he opened the bag to find an apple, a banana, a can of coke and a bag of prawn cocktail crisps.

In the darkest places, our God is with us. Even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, he is with us. He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies. Nothing will separate us from his love: not tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword.

Stay strong. Keep your eyes on Jesus. And never, never give up.

I put my faith squarely in your protection, provision and presence

“Dear Lord God, thank you that you will never abandon us. Thank you that you are with us through the storms of life. I praise you that your presence is with us at this time. Nothing can separate us from your love and fellowship. Not calamity, not pandemics, not war, not crime, not disaster. Dear Lord, even in the thick of calamity, you know my needs and desires. I put my faith squarely in your protection, provision and presence. I surrender to your hand. Amen.”

“So, whatever your disappointments of yesterday; whatever your fears of tomorrow or your needs today, take heart, Jesus will get you through.”

Jesus had returned home after visiting the Gadarenes where he had driven many demons out of a man into a herd of pigs. No sooner had he climbed out of the boat when he was approached by some people carrying a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Take heart, my son,” and promptly forgave the man’s sins and healed him completely.

On another occasion, while a large crowd pressed in around him, a woman who had been suffering from a bleed for 12 years touched his cloak in faith that she would be healed. Jesus turned to her and said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” She was instantly healed. On still another occasion, Jesus came walking to his disciples on the water of the sea of Galilee as they strained their oars against a raging storm. They were terrified at the sight of him walking on water. So, Jesus called out to them, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

I read in the Bible that God is eternal. That is, he is infinite; he exists simultaneously in the past, the present and the future. We read this in Revelation where it says that God was and is and is to come. Notice the conjunction “and”. The phrase implies that God was and is and is to come. That is, he is all 3 conditions at the same time. And we know that God is all-powerful, all-knowing and ever-present. Therefore, whatever you and I face today, our God knows all about it and has the present power to meet our needs. Nothing is beyond the scope of God. Nothing is external to the control of God. And he exists already in the future, where our needs are met.

So, whatever your disappointments of yesterday; whatever your fears of tomorrow or your needs today, take heart, Jesus will get you through.

I place my faith squarely in your omnipotent power to heal the sick, deliver our communities, restore our economy and bring good out of every disaster

“O Father God, I praise you for your love and care for me. You are with me always, in every circumstance of life. You are with me through global crises like Covid-19 and you are with me in personal intimate difficulties. I believe that nothing is external to your influence. Therefore, I place my faith squarely in your omnipotent power to heal the sick, deliver our communities, restore our economy and bring good out of every disaster. I believe you are already on the other side of my tomorrow. So, I take heart that, in you, I will overcome. Amen.”

“Together we stand and praise the King of Kings who reigns supreme. Hallowed be his name and his will be done on earth as it is done in heaven.”

Books by Dudley Anderson
Whatever you hear about this coronavirus pandemic, please don't allow it to attack your mental or spiritual wellbeing. Stay strong. We will get through this with God's help.

I've been meditating on Psalm 103 (read it). The Lord our God, El Shaddai, is the Creator. He is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent and eternal. Our God is enthroned in the highest and Christ, our Lord and Saviour, is enthroned at his right hand, crowned King of Kings. The name of Jesus is higher than any name. The Scripture tells us that at his name every knee will bow. I will bless the Lord with all that is within me. No matter what calamity I go through Jesus is still on the throne.

Christian, if you acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Saviour then God has made you alive together with Christ and raised you up with him and seated you with him in heavenly places. You are in Christ Jesus. If Jesus is King of Kings and you are seated with him then – in Christ – you are enthroned above all power, dominion, illnesses and pandemics. You are under his crown. Psalm 103 tells us that the Lord has crowned you with steadfast love and mercy.

Covid-19 is a coronavirus. That is, it is a virus surrounded by small protein extensions that resemble the corona of the sun. It is these extensions that react with our cells and cause the virus to infect us. The word corona comes from the Latin word meaning crown. Covid-19 is a virus with a crown and its dominion is destruction. And we know who the Destroyer is (Satan). So, let us withdraw from under the monarchy of the Destroyer and decrown the "crownvirus" for we are seated under the authority of the King of Kings. The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.

Psalm 103 calls us to praise the Lord our God:

“Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
    bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
    who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
    who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy;
who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.”

Together we stand and praise the King of Kings who reigns supreme. Hallowed be his name and his will be done on earth as it is done in heaven.

GOD-TRACKING IS FOLLOWING GOD’S EXCLUSIVE PLAN FOR YOU

“God’s purposes for you are deliberately and exclusively designed by God to fit only you. You see, with God, one size does not fit all.”

When my children were small, they enjoyed an array of toys from dolls and toy cars to intricate toddlers’ puzzles. I remember one puzzle in particular. It consisted of a sixteen-sided plastic form with various irregularly shaped holes in each side; there was a star shape, a square shape, a triangle shape and so on. With the toy came sixteen irregularly shaped plastic blocks, each corresponding to a different hole. The idea was for the toddler to find the correct shaped block for the appropriate hole and push it through. It was great fun, especially for dad! However, I would often find my little girl or little boy trying very hard to force a round block into a square hole or a star block into a triangular hole. They would try to inject the block into the hole every which way until it finally dawned on them to try a different hole. Eventually with a range of grunts and some whining the correct block would find its way into the correct hole.

Have you ever felt like a misfit in life? Have you ever tried to do a job or explore a relationship that just did not seem to suit your skills or your character? The popular saying goes: “You’re trying to be a square peg in a round hole.” So many times, I have found myself in situations like this. For instance, when I lived in South Africa back in the 1980s, I remember leaving one job for another. At the time, I worked in the IT industry as a network controller. However, in my quest to find the proverbial greener grass on the other side of the hill, I left one company to join another as a systems programmer. Bad move. I was just not cut out for the job. Apart from the fact that I had minimal systems programming experience, my new company was primarily an Afrikaans speaking company and, dare I say, my command of the language left much to be desired. As it turned out I found myself at loggerheads with management trying to persuade them that I really did know what I was doing… in Afrikaans, no less. Needless to say, I finally resigned and moved back into computer networking, in a new company. You see, I was trying to be a square peg in a round hole.

Dear GodTracker, as you seek to track God’s plans for life remember that God knows what’s best for you. In fact, he knows everything about you. He knows whether you are a square or a round peg; he knows whether you are a triangle or a star and as long as you continue to acknowledge him and look for his will in all you do, he will fit you into your appropriately shaped hole. Jesus told us to seek first God’s kingdom (that is his modus operandi and his principles in life) and his righteousness then all else will be added to us as well. God loves you so much that he will always provide for and guide you into the appropriately shaped opportunities for your life, provided you put him first.

Help me, Lord, to find your exclusive, deliberate plan for my life

“Dear God, you are my Lord and my guide. I submit my life entirely to your will and purposes. Forgive me for taking my eyes off your holy plans for me and attempting to run my life my way. I have tried to be a square peg in a round hole for too long and have come undone. Help me, Lord, to find your exclusive, deliberate plan for my life. Help me to find the right hole to slot into, that my family and I will be blessed, protected and provided for; that I may please you by fulfilling your call upon my life. To your glory, I pray. Amen.”

Step into that river in faith that the Lord will part its waters for you, so you can possess that land called Promise.”

Joshua 1:9“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Books by Dudley Anderson
I could imagine Joshua standing on the east bank of the Jordan River, gazing across its flooding waters at the land called Promise. Perhaps Caleb stood beside him. “What was it that Moses said, Caleb… ‘you shall go with this people into the land that the Lord has sworn to their fathers, and you shall put them in possession of it’? But why me?”

“Because you are young and you are a man of faith,” replied Caleb. “Remember, forty years ago, when we came back from spying out the land with the other 10 spies? They were all quaking in their boots, but you and I believed we could take this land. We had faith then. Have faith now, my friend. I am too old to lead these people. God has chosen you. So, ‘Be strong and courageous. The Lord goes before you. He will not leave you or forsake you.’ These were God’s words through Moses. Hold on to them in faith, and step across this river. Unless you take that step, all Israel will remain in the wilderness.”

Dear GodTracker, you may be waiting for God to bring something new your way.  Often, he does graciously drop opportunities into our laps, but most times, like with Joshua, he tells us to step out in faith and trust him to come through for us. There could be a prospect of new land facing you right now and you’re wondering what to do about it. Well, what has the Lord said to you about this new opportunity? Do you believe it’s from him? If so, then go get it! Faith pleases God and he rewards those who live by faith. God does not respond to our wishes or dreams; he responds to active faith. Step into that river in faith that the Lord will part its waters for you, so you can possess that land called Promise.

So Joshua instructed the officers of the people, “Pass through the camp and command the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan to go in to take possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’”

Make provision for all I’ll need to possess this opportunity and make the most of it

“Dear Lord, I believe I am faced with a great opportunity. I believe you have presented me with this prospect therefore, I believe you will make a way across this river for me to possess your promises. Help me to step out in faith. Give me wisdom and instruction that I may know what your will is for me. Prepare me for the unknown (Lord with you, all things are known). Make provision for all I’ll need to possess this opportunity and make the most of it. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.”

GOD-TRACKING IS WALKING PERSONALLY WITH YOUR SAVIOUR

GodTracker 748The e-devotional helping to keep you on track with God’s plans for your life.

Your personal Lord and Saviour is saying to you today, “I know the plans I have for you, plans for wellbeing and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 139:13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

If you have committed your life to Christ, then you are correct in calling him your personal Lord and Saviour. Jesus came to reconcile mankind to God, because mankind has turned away from God and come short of his intimate fellowship. Sin has separated us all from our holy Creator, as we read, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” All means all. If you are included in all then you are personally liable for your sin. However, we also read that all are justified by God’s grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. So, if you have admitted your sin in personal repentance and personally accepted God’s grace (in that Jesus died for your sin) then you are personally justified and reconciled to God.

After Jesus had died, risen from the dead and ascended to heaven, God poured out his Holy Spirit on all flesh. All means all. If you are included in all then you are under the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. That means God’s Holy Spirit is personally upon you. God is omnipresent – everywhere all the time. Therefore, through Jesus and by the fellowship of the Holy Spirit you are in a one-to-one, personal relationship with the great Lord God Almighty.

And the Lord Almighty has a personal word for you today: you are never alone; he is by your side every minute of every day and night. He knows your intimate thoughts and feelings. He hears your cries when you’re lonely, he knows your thoughts when you wake up with the blues at that wonder hour in the middle of the night. Your personal Lord and Saviour is saying to you today, “I know the plans I have for you, plans for wellbeing and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

So, cast your cares on him, because he cares for you. Come to him when you’re lonely, burdened or bogged down with life issues, and he will be your comfort and rest. Place your trust in him to meet your financial needs – because he can! Confide in your personal Lord and Saviour every day. Lean on him and not on your own perception of circumstances for he is already on the other side of your tomorrow. He has known you personally since the day you were conceived. And he loves you.

Praise you Lord that I can walk every day in a personal relationship with you

“O my Lord and Saviour, thank you so much that you – the mighty God – know me personally. I am so grateful that Jesus died to reconcile me to you, so that I may walk a personal intimate walk with you. My Lord, today I cast all my worries and cares upon your shoulders. Thank you that you care personally for me. I trust you to meet my every need until the day I die, according to your magnificent wealth. I’m sorry for taking my eyes off you and looking down at my circumstances. Today, I refuse to give up but look up and fix my eyes on Jesus, who is already on the other side of my circumstances. GOD-TRACKING IS TRUSTING GOD’S PLAN

“This is where trust comes in. Despite the stress, despite the burnouts, we can be sure that if we continue to acknowledge God in all – yes, all – our ways, then wherever we find ourselves in life will be precisely where God wants us to be.”

Ephesians 1:11In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will

Books by Dudley Anderson
My mind was numb, as I walked home from the business meeting. For the past one and a half hours, I’d sat around a table with three colleagues discussing the future of our work. Through the haze of pressing issues, I vaguely remember us reviewing our vision and projects. However, somehow, it was as if I wasn’t there. I heard a voice discussing our plans. It sounded like my voice, but it seemed I was listening in from the other room. When I opened the front door and entered my home Karen knew instantly that there was something wrong. I was on the verge of burnout.

I always teach that God has a plan for our lives. The scripture makes that plain. In Jeremiah, we read, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.” And in Ephesians, we read that God’s purpose was for us to know the mystery of his grace, through Christ that we might fulfil our destinies. And in Romans: “All things work together for good for those who are called according to his purpose.” I likewise teach that if we acknowledge God in all our ways, he will direct our paths in life. All this amounts to the main concept of what I call, God-tracking.

Yet, God never promised that tracking his plans would always be easy. For as much as God has a plan for your life so does the enemy of God’s plans, Satan. Satan’s plan is always to derail you from the track of God’s plans for your life. Thankfully, Jesus said, “In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Stress, criticism, loss, illness, anxiety and more are sure to rise up in your life, as you seek to stay on track with the plans and purposes of God.

This is where trust comes in. Despite the stress, despite the burnouts, we can be sure that if we continue to acknowledge God in all – yes, all – our ways, then wherever we find ourselves in life will be precisely where God wants us to be. So, be strong and courageous, he will never leave your side. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, who endured great stress, looking through the cross to see himself victorious on the other side. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don’t lean on your own understanding.

Safe to say, though my circumstances have changed since that formidable business meeting a year ago, God’s plans have prevailed in my life. His plans are for our welfare and not evil, to give us a future and a hope.

You are the uplifter of my soul! Today I place my trust squarely in the plans you know you have for me

“Dear Lord, I don’t know if I can face another day. I feel so empty – so burned out. Loss has overcome me; stress is overwhelming me, and the criticisms are overbearing. Forgive me for taking my eyes off Jesus during this trial. Dear Lord, I consciously acknowledge you again in prayer and commit every part of my life to you.
